Hey everyone. I along with a few others are having an issue where there is no widget for favorite contacts. It shows in the application manager but it's not an option in the widgets area. Is anyone else missing this widget and does anyone know if it would be possible to get it? Thanks in advance

I've seen another thread on it somewhere that shows some versions of the s4 came with a favorite contacts widget. I'm hoping it can be moved over here cause I really liked it on my s3.

If you are rooted.....
I have found a method of gettin gthe "Contacts" app to open to the last tab it was closed on.........close it in Favorites and it will open in Favorites.
Using Root Explorer, or another smilar app:
Open /system/csc/feature.xml with a text editor.
Edit the line: <CscFeature_Contact_FixMainTabWhenAppLaunched>true</
Change "True" to "False" so it reads: <CscFeature_Contact_FixMainTabWhenAppLaunched>false</
Now, every time you launch the Contacts App it will start in the tab you left it in....even after reboot....rather than always revertin gto the contacts tab.

i see. then have you tried an app called "systemapp remover"??
of course needs root to use and you can get it through android market or internet.
you can uninstall regular apps (the ones you installed) and
uninstall/disable system apps..
from the app, you can also make a backup for incase..
the backups goes to a folder called "systemappbackup" in int. sdcard
and i have this app installed and i can see the "vvm" app.
Vv is easy to uninstall with titanium backup if your rooted. What confuses people is the icon that is still left in the app drawer. That comes from the htc mms app

I have my Google/gmail account synced to my N10. Is there a way to view/edit my contacts? I, for the life of me, cannot find a way to see them, other than the fact an individual contact will appear when entering into a new gmail message. This tells me they are on the tablet, just out of sight, apparently.

Use the people app...I have it in AOKP rom

I'm also using aokp, but don't have the people app. Where might I find it? I even searched the Play Store for that before I posted this thread.
Things might be different for you, but when I pull down my toggle bar on the top right corner I can see my username as the first toggle. Clicking on it displays my google contacts and I can edit them as well. This is the case with both my stock 4.2.2 ROM and the AOKP version I use.

Strange. I have my user in there, but no contacts when I click it. I'll have to do some more digging.

What happens when you click on the username? For me, a new window opens with my username in there. As soon as I click on that window my contacts open.

Nothing. It closes the status bar.
You really should have the "people" app. That's the default display name for the icon in your apps list, but it actually loads up an apk called "contacts".
If you don't have this, there could be something wrong with the way GApps are installed on your device. Which GApps package did you install?

I chose through aroma on Mr Robinson's AOKP. Very possible that I missed it. I'll dirty flash tonight.
Edit: I just dirty flashed and made certain that I chose the contacts app in aroma installer. I still do not have the people app. Thinking about a clean flash because it's annoying me.
I've heard of some problems with that new aroma installer. I'm running the same rom, but manually installed all cause I'm still afraid of the installer! No probs here so far, & I run nitro's inverted app package from Eclipse which is still - 2012 something. I just let Play Store update whatever's needed after install or batch restore with TiBu. But that installer I'd bet is the culprit. I think!

Re: Contacts SOLVED
OK. I'm an idiot. If any of you have this problem in the future, I have a fool proof way to fix it:
1. Go into your app drawer and open TiB
2. Scroll through the list until you find the Contacts app.
3. Defrost it, because somewhere along the way it got frozen.
4. Profit.
Thanks to all who tried to help, but you all were wrong and I figured this out all on my own. (Insert sarcasm here).

Why can't I save a Facebook photo while tap/holding on a picture I'm viewing?
When I click the menu button, i have the option to share, or assign as a contact photo, and even to Dropbox but now on the device.
Seems to be specific for my GS4 and a buddy's GS3.
Ang work around?
Its not your phones....ive had the htc one s, gs3, and now the gs4....its a facebook thing...not the phone. I believe there is an app on the market that will allow you to download pics.
Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk 2
I just assumed because my buddy has a DROID incredible and CAN save them by holding on the photo, another friend with some kind of Motorola running Android that also can, seems like a stupid problem, I know it's available in the Facebook app, i'll check version numbers of their specific facebook apps.
I've never been able to do this on any of my previous Droids or Tablets with the official facebook app. The free-version 3rd party facebook app, FriendCaster allows you to save pictures.

I don't post often because I usually do some searching and find my answer. Not the case this time.
When I had an iPhone I was annoyed that it was not possible to choose defaults to override certain functions. For instance, you can't change the default browser. That's just one example, but there are many more.
After switching to android I thought I'd be all set. And for the most part I am. However, I still have not figured out how to modify one behavior that's bothering me: control of what happens when hyperlinks are clicked. The particular example I am thinking of right now is eBay.
I have the eBay app installed. So, whenever I click an eBay link - whether it's in a browser, an email, or another app - I want it to open the eBay app. I don't ever want it to open the eBay web page in the browser. Same goes for all the other apps I have installed. Another example - using the xda app. If I have the xda app installed and I get an email that includes a link to a thread here on xda, I want to view it in the xda app, not in a browser. Ever.
How do I make sure this behavior always works the way it should? It appears that some apps will ask what behavior you want to use as default. But that doesn't seem to work 100%. Our the setting isn't sticking. I don't know.
its not androids fault, its the app/web developers... tumblr makes great use of defaults but no other app seems to...

Is it a limitation caused by the "from" app or the "to" app?
For instance, I just got an email that there was a reply to this thread. When I click on the link in the Gmail app, there is no option to use the xda forum app to open the link. Is that a fault of the Gmail app, or the xda app?
I'd say the "to" app. I use tapatalk and any xda link gives me the option to open the forum in the app

I say its both both sides can be programmed to do it. the app can intercept links and webpages can add app specific buttons
tumblr has app specific buttons (open in app) and YouTube intercepts most links (thus when you click a YouTube link the app opens)
