[Q] Videos as TV Shows - Xperia Tablet Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all,
I am very pedantic about everything on my tablet and was looking for a way to get the TV shows on my laptop to show up as TV shows on my tablet. I've got a mix of mkvs and m4vs. I've imported then into Media Go and sorted them all out as TV shows on there, but when I sync them to my tablet (internal or external storage), they only appear as movies. I've scoured the internet and found no answers, so I was wondering if anyone here knew a way around this. I know its a very small thing but I would appreciate it if anyone could help me.
Thanks!

[Q] allshare question

Hello, first post here. Pretty new to the whole smartphone thing. Trying to get the allshare, specifically the screen share to work with my tv. I have an ethernet cord plugged into a samsung tv with allshare with the other end going into a wireless router. The phone and tv find each other and I can stream a movie without a problem. When I go down to the screen share option in the settings it says no device detected. I spoke with samsung a couple of times about it and they said the only way for that to work is with one of their wireless dongles. I find that hard to believe that I can stream movies but not share the screen but I'm also new at this so I was wondering if you had any insight. Thanks in advance
DLNA isn't made for screen sharing. It's just not...I've been using DLNA for a good while before I got a smartphone with that capability. It's really apples and oranges.
i don't understand why in the tv manual it would say that you could though. Just that my phone needs to have screen share on it. was hoping to browse the internet on my tv or play some emulators on it. has anyone else been able to do that with this phone?
ndavis, it seems you are thinking of the phone's tv out feature via 3.5 mm jack. You can't run emulators over DLNA.
i've been trying to figure out how to play videos on the phone (from my pc). the phone sees the videos, but when i try to stream them, it says "unsupported file format". I know that the file is supported because if i physically download it to my phone, it plays fine. Any ideas?

[Q] App that easily streams video from PC -> Android

Hey there all!
I'm looking for something similar to, My Movie Library, but where I can view the library (on my tablet) with the poster art, description, ect and then choose the movie I want and it streams to that device. (over internal network).
I found a few options, but they arn't quite what I'm looking for, although I'll probably settle with one of them if I no one knows of anything else.

Are the two I've found so far....
If you know of any others (free or paid). Please, post them I'd love to see what else is out there.

Cheap NAS using any Android device. HELP!

Hi all
I bought recently one of those cheap Mini Android PC (the MK808B) and I am trying to setup an easy/cheap NAS with it so I can see my videos from other devices. This would let me turn off my big energy-sucker desktop PC and leave that light small device doing its job. By the way... I am using the MK808B, but the idea is that any rooted Android device would do it.
Until now the progress is big and I can say it almost works... but that "almost" is why I am here, asking for help.
This is what I have done until now:
In the MK808B I have installed:
- Paragon NTFS&HFS+ (so I can mount any NTFS device, in my case a 32GB FTFS flash drive but this would support any big hard drive) (needs root)
- Droid NAS (a free app that does in theory what NAS do, in theory only accessible from Macs and Android devices although that would still be OK since I want to access to those videos from our phones and tablet)
So, once all this is setup and running, I go to any of my Android devices and try to access. To do so, I installed:
- ES File Explorer (to access my MK808B via my WiFi connection)
- MX Player (to play the videos)
And here is the problem: I manage to access my MK808B, I can get into the mounted flash drive... but when I try to play any of the videos, whatever the format, MX Player gives me this error:
"Video problem"
"Can't play this video"
If I click on an image it opens it, if I try to copy files I can... is just playing videos that doesn't work. Could be accessing them through my WiFi connection the problem? Maybe the MK808B is not reliable enough, WiFi speaking? Should I get one of those USB-LAN thingy?
If you could help me I would appreciate it. And also, I think getting a setup like this working would be very useful for a lot of people, who could access their files from any device while at home
Thanks!
I use BubbleUpNp from the play store across all of my devices.
HTC One X, Google Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 and an MK809 plugged in the back of the TV. I do have a OTG-Lan plugged into a hub, with 1TB hard drive all plugged into the MK809. I have Finless 1.7 Rom on the TV Stick.
Seems to work well, allowing me to say use my tab to render a movie from my MK809 library (1TB Hard Drive).
Other recommendations for you are Droidmote. Droidmote server on your TV Stick and Droidmote client on your phone, acts as a remote.
XBMC android installed on your TV stick.

Streaming live TV to a tablet

Good evening all,
I have been searching for an answer to this for a long time, I'm not 100% sure if this is the right section but any suggestions or help was massively appreciated.
I recently moved from the UK to Malta (sick of the cold and rainy weather) whilst I'm trying to earn a crust evening entertainment is a bit thin on the ground, whilst looking around a few shops I've noticed that android TV boxes are big here, they seem to offer live TV streaming directly from the internet, multiple countries and their respective channels (IE no TV tuner) my question is, can we get the same software on a tablet?
I've tried searching for a lot of things but all I seem to get is sites that either suggest you setup a server with a TV tuner to stream to a tablet or use geo-locked apps such as iplayer, hulu etc.
As i said, any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Bob
