I was trying out different roms on my new HTCOne coming from CyanogenMod 10.1 i decided to load InsertCoin 1.1.1. I loaded into CWM Recovery choose wipe cache, davlik cache and factory data reset loaded up the rom selected the options wanted installation completed without issue rebooted the phone, Now when phone loads it boots to the htc logo then reboots again to the htc logo and says entering recovery at the top then i get a very quick flash showing clockwork recovery mod then it reboots again and continues in a loop i can press the volume down button and enter the bootloader but i'm unable to do anything cannot reload Clockclock mod tried using HTC One AIO kit but unable to find device any help please. thank you
Your best bet is to start over fresh trust me you aren't bricked at all, just botched ... A brick you'll know it I'll have a dead screen no lights nothing . .Download the stock Rom 1.29 ota zip Rom on your pc plug in phone boot into hboot volume down and power .Choose factory reset from hboot menu let it do that then reboot into hboot
Choose recovery, select sideload Rom baicslly you'll be loading the rom from pc onto your phone via Cwm choose the rom zip location on your pc. Then install it
It'll work .
If not use the tmobile toolkit by hasoon2000
Extras at bottom show the links to the stock ruu
You have to relock the bootloader first to unroot and stock ,this tool kit is a script it does it auto for you ,after your stock and spared your phone from death you can reroot all over again .
Point being is your phone is still alive

Ok well for future reference I and others I know had trouble with windows 8 the toolkit works but some reason it's hit and miss on win8
Cm10 is a headache, future reference avoid it if ya can .. in my opinion, cause going back to 4.1.2rom from 4.2 messes with a lot of peoples phones ,sometimes.

Forgive me for asking where do you get the stock Rom?. Mines got messed up as well and I was using the kit in Windows 8. I would gladly give it a shot on my Windows 7 pc.

Windows 8 works for the boatloader unlock for some reason on the tool kit but I had to switch over to win 7 to flash cwm via fastboot.I believe it's just a driver issue
Just use the tool kit extras at bottom to flash stock ruu with the script
Use win7 fir sure .
Or download the 1.29 ota rom zip that has the new update built In that we havent officially got on OTA yet. It also greatly fixes cam battery and the home key sensitivity
Sideload it from pc to cwm and flash
1.29 ota rom that was made is the way to go and where u wana be on your Htc one it's way better than 1.27 software

I plugged it in and yes, it charged! but I am gonna try the RUU now, ill tell you the results, really never encountered this before ;(
May I ask why you want to relock your bootloader?
If your phone is not charging, it's probably because your Recovery is not the latest to date.
@muhhh351
You should flash a Recovery known working on charging mode, the first releases were lacking this mode, but this is resolved now. Click on Frequently Asked Questions in my signature everything is there for you to find about HOX+ and their recoveries.

TWRP is more complete and a rigourously tested recovery. CWM was modded to work on the HOX+.
First make sure your SDK tool (adb) is correctly installed and also the HTC's drivers. (There is a link for a tutorial in my signature.)
Download the correspondent recovery for your phone International OR AT&T/Telus (N.B. Links are available in the Sticky FAQ)
Flash the Recovery.
Clear Cache
Reboot in Recovery
Install your correspondent version of any ROM.zip you want that is already on your storage. (Otherwise,Sideload a ROM to be able to flash one inRecovery)
Flash the boot.img of your desired ROM
Clear Cache Again
Reboot
Should work

I tried to be polite (anyway I am not allowed to talk like that, I never developed any sort of app, neither a ROM or kernel so I am not very qualified to judge others work), I'm sure you understood what I meant.
And yes I agree everything is way more complicated and unstable with CWM.
Please help. I'm having same problem. I can get into bootloader and fastboot and even successfully installed recovery but I can't get into recovery bc I always go to that white htc screen and no idea what to do next. Please please help me. I am on 1.15 software and 1.32 hboot and 4.1.1 Android version
Thank u

Reboot your phone in Bootloader mode (fastboot) you should have this 4 choices :
HBOOT
REBOOT
REBOOT BOOTLOADER
POWER DOWN
leave HBOOT highlighted then press the power button once, a new menu will appear :
FASTBOOT
RECOVERY
FACTORY RESET
SIMLOCK
SHOW BARCODE
IMAGE CRC
From there with the Volume control (up & down) simply select RECOVERY and press Power button one time, your phone should Reboot in Recovery mode.
When in Recovery mode the VERY FIRST thing you will do, is a complete backup of your actual ROM and you will keep it as long as you gonna own the phone, so put this backup in a safe place on your computer and make sure to never delete it.
Thank you but the thing is.. I put twrp on it and version 2.3.3.0 and it won't boot in it. Any ideas why? Then I looked for a more recent recovery and I wasn't sure if this is evita?? So, basically I'm still unable to get into recovery and it goes to that htc white screen.
Btw. Your instructions are excellent

OK I will give you a trick...
Navigate to platform-tools of your SDK folder.
Right click and create a New text document
In the new text paste this : c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe
Save it with this name : StartADB.bat (important to save it with .bat extension and overwrite the warning)
Now right click again on your new bat file, and create a shortcut to your desktop.
Now try to adb devices your phone via your new desktop shortcut.
Type this command with your phone plugged : adb devices
You should have your serial in return
OK I am doing that. Please give me a few MIN. Ty

The T-mobile RUU isnt out yet. Try wiping data, if it still doesn't work you will have to install a custom rom since there is no T-Mo custom roms yet. This is until there is a T-Mo custom Rom or RUU.
I almost guarantee something was botched with cwm,try this .....
Over write and flash twrp over cwm use the adb fastboot folder method .
Watch qbking77 vid on YouTube very reputable. You still should be able to boot into hboot. Power down device until it goes dead ... then keep hold vol down while power up until hboot comes alive. Do the usual plug in phone select bootloader until u see fastboot usb.
Flash the latest twrp RECOVERY.You will have to dload the files on pc
This may clear things up if it's just a recovery loop issue.
Make a backup and reboot system.
It's an idea and may solve the issue .
If you get into hboot you are not totally screwed.
Word of advice alway make a backup first always .

Thank you for the help luckily they swapped it out for me today. It was a nightmare for some reason cwm and twrp got installed together and messed it all up. Hopefully this can help someone else though thanks again!
Yes man be safe it's a delicate process ... Follow the hasoon tool kit for unlocking bootloader only I nevr had luck flashing a recovery with his toolkit... and use the manual method to flash twrp with fastboot adb stay away from cwm.
Like mentioned the easiest way for someone that is unsure to do this is to follow the YouTube vids ,I reccomend qbking77 he's reputable and has covered a lot of devices .
Intact I just bought a second HTC one unlocked and rooted today
Remember to make sure you use the correct version of twrp for the tmo HTC one.

I've read that some fixed this by clearing the cache.
I've just received my OTA KitKat 4.4 update on my HTC One, but it won't successfully install. i tap "install now" on my phone, the phone reboots and goes into TWRP recovery. i found the zip file, flashed it with TWRP, and it seems to have unpacked it because i now have a file with the same name as the KitKat 4.4 update zip file that contains a "META-INF" file and a "patch" file, but when i reboot system, i'm still running Android 4.3 with Sense 5.0 according to Settings>About>Software information. what is going on? am i doing something wrong? do i need to relock my bootloader? uninstall TWRP? if i do need to uninstall TWRP, then how? i don't even see it listed under Settings>Apps. i was really looking forward to running KitKat and i've been trying to update to it all night, so much so that my wife is now mad at me for spending so much time "playing" with my phone! if anyone can help me, i would greatly appreciate it. i'm a newb when it comes to TWRP, but i've had an HTC Tilt, Tilt 2, and a Vivid, all unlocked, rooted, and with custom roms. i was even trying to learn to cook my own roms for my Vivid, so i know (basically) what i'm doing, but i am familiar with using the "install from internal SD card" option in recovery, which i don't even have anymore. now when i enter my bootloader, scroll to "recovery" and select it, my phone boots up into TWRP recovery, which i'm not liking thus far. seems like more of a pain than the simple "install from internal SD" process that i'm familiar with. i'd much prefer to use the process i'm familiar with than TWRP if that is possible. if anyone can help me with any of these issues, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do so. reply to this post, pm me, or email me. doesn't make any difference to me. i'll take any help or advice i can get at this point!

How do I pull it? I take it your talking about extracting it from the zip file, right? If not, then how do I "pull" it? If so, what do I do after that? Just flash it with twrp? Also, does the "volume up + power" procedure get you to the "install from internal sd card" option? Sorry for all the questions, but it seems that a lot has changed since I got my Vivid & used to flash a new ROM every few days. I finally flashed HoliRaider Final Version by bananacakes & liked it so much that I used it for the next 2 1/2 years. It looks like a lot of stuff has changed since then. By the way, I actually have the zip file for the update. I copied it to my PC before I finally decided to select "do not install" & started looking for help. Thanks!

yeah you just remove recovery.img from the Guru reset and flash it
are you sure your phone is unchanged from stock otherwise ?
to flash the stock recovery it's done from fastboot and command window
extract the stock recovery to your fastboot folder then the command
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
after this is when you can boot to stock recovery (the one with the red triangle)
and then you can flash the ota.zip you downloaded
just keep referring to my other post for the correct steps to take

I had flashed a Viper Rom, but I didn't like it. Flashed Android Revolution, but still wasn't satisfied, so I went back to a stock rom. But I did flash it from twrp, so it may not actually be stock. come to think of it, I haven't seen the red triangle since I've been running this Rom, so it most likely isn't stock (i assume). Right?
As far as the "up volume + power" goes, do I do that INSTEAD of "down volume + power" or do it on the red triangle screen? Sorry, I just want to have all my ducks in a row this time.

fastboot reboot-bootloader will get you to the bootloader the same as power+volume down
after the stock recovery is installed from the bootloader you choose recovery you'll see the red triangle screen (after a few seconds) this is where you do the power+volume up to see the flash options
choose install from phone storage
click 0 then find the OTA file you downloaded and install it.
If your phone is not Stock it will FAIL, if that's the case you need to start from scratch by running the guru reset and following the instructions I already gave you. So you know I did the total reset and was on kitkat in about 20 min it's not that hard just follow the mini tutorial and don't skip any steps

Sorry for the delayed response. Spent the last couple of days trying to figure out what I was doing wrong in learning to sideload a ROM. Anyway, yeah, I received the OTA update for4.4 KitKat. Finally succeeded in flashing a stock 4.3 Jelly Bean ROM, received the OTA 4.4 update, and am now running KitKat! Thanks to everyone for all of your help! I was starting to think I bricked my phone.
TL;DWR: I want to go back to absolute zero and revert my phone to factory. I'm new to android and just followed a youtube video guide to root and unlock boot loader and now don't know how to go back.
Hey guys, I am completely new to android and have been with iPhone for about 7 years so please forgive me for my questions as they are elementary in comparison with the topics that are typically discussed on here.
I decided to switch it up and try an M8 cause the build quality and screen really excited me so I sold my iPhone and made the switch. I was in absolute love for about a week while on stock. Just learning android and all it's small quirks was fun for me.
but now, I have the phone up for sale, I'm amazed at how convoluted it is just to return to stock after rooting and roming. I spent 6 hours last night with a phone that wouldn't boot and just hang at the opening htc one opening boot animation.
I installed TWRP, unlocked the boot loader and used Hassoon2000's all in one toolkit to root as well. I used this video posted on the toolkit thread on here to help guide me.: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Krw6H4gQ6g0&feature=youtu.be
I followed the video to a tee with some stops on my side cause what he said in the video didn't always happen on my end, so I would unplug my phone and plug it back in and continue where I left off until the whole process worked. It's at the very end when he used twrp to reboot back into his "normal phone" that my phone just hung on the HTC boot animation.
I have all neccasary drivers and software installed to run this the toolkit and still received the "error: no device found" from time to time when using the kit. so you can imagine all the hair I pulled out coming from jailbreaking an iPhone with one click to trying just to root my device to disable ads and not can't even use my phone.
after some digging to find what I thought what supposedly a stock rom/img/Whateverthenameis for my phone, I breathed a sigh of relief and flashed it using tarp adb side load option and it finally booted up. I now however don't have working Wi-Fi and some apps that came preinstalled on my phone are missing. I don't like and just feel like it's a buggy mess.
long story short, I just want to go back to absolute zero. all the way stock; I don't even care about keeping any root or unlock. It would be nice so I can adblock but I don't care about it if it will stop me from going back to zero.
Here are all the tools I used to ruin my android experience aka the tools I mentioned above:
Toolkit (thread): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2699065
rom/img/whateveritscalled that i used to get back into a buggy phone: http://www.androidfiles.org/?developer=M8&folder=StockRoms
video guide I used: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Krw6H4gQ6g0&feature=youtu.be
I ran all this on a Windows 7 64-bit desktop machine.

I think there was a shipped RUU for the M8 that could be used to go full stock, I'll see if I can find it.
RUU = Rom Update Utility, which was named that back in the old WinMo days. This would just be a file that you either flash thru SD via fastboot or thru your computer.

If you could find that it would be most appreciated
I just looked and couldn't find one. Would this be the only way to revert to stock from either a bad flash, boot loop or just plain want to be stock again. I want to root but I'm just not confident enough to use the toolkit without any handups. At least if I knew how to get back to stock I wouldnt worry as much.

Word around was that there has been no RUU released for our device yet. There is a stock rooted TWRP recovery image on the Android Development forum but that's probably the closest you will get. I'm not sure if a straight up factory reset would do it or not, but you would need to flash the stock recovery as well. Overall a pretty drawn out process, especially if you are unfamiliar with adb and fastboot. You might have to wait for a RUU

It probably would not find one, but if it did nothing good would happen, it won't successfully take an OTA with a custom ROM, recovery, etc..

I think I need to find someone to help me, because I never had to deal with rooted devices before. So i wouldn't even know what to do with the files you posted

It's pretty simple actually.
If you are using TWRP recovery, just place this in that folder on your SD card, boot into recovery, and hit "restore"
it will restore a stock ROM on your device.
Use the recovery version he mentions though.

reboot the phone into recovery (your power menu might have the option) and it will give you the version.
You can also access it from fastboot, or adb (typy adb reboot recovery)

Yea, android phones are a complete different world then that of iPhones. I was in your shoes a yr after the ip4 release. I didn't jump right in...I didn't flash or root my 1st phone for months. To be fair, not all android phones have difficult root/restore methods...most I've used were 1 click, same goes for jb programs. The only thing I can think of that iPhone had a slight edge was if you bricked from a bad app or jb...DFU and restore thru iTunes but then you worry about restoring to the new firmware...waiting for the next exploit and praying its not tethered. If iPhone is your thing...great but don't bounce from android after your 1st set back...it happens to all of us.

Yeah, luckily I went from WinMo to iOS, so I went from "if you flash one wrong file you're bricked" to "I cannot brick this device if I try"
coming back to Android was like the WinMo days.
Depends what you have too, my daily is a Nexus 5, pretty easy to do anything on it. Samsung are really easy too, you just Odin a factory tar no matter where you are for the most part.
But HTC is the difficult one, all these tokens and issues and hboot versions and patches etc...
You get used to it though, and then it doesn't seem so daunting...
In this case, these are things OP needs to know if he is going to mess with any Android phones, basic things like recovery and basic ADB / fastboot commands etc...

So how do I do that?
Sorry for being such a noob, but I just want my wifi to work lol
Well i used to have a hox+ with Android Revolution custom rom and a custom kernel. I tried to power it up but it stucks at htc logo, then reboots and goes straight to twrp recovery. I tried to flash again the rom via adb but i can't see my device in cmd. I found and dowloaed htc drivers my htc, plus adk and htc sync manager but still no luck..any ideas what is going on here?
do a full system reset in cwm recovery
now install the rom
reboot into fastboot
fastboot flash boot boot.img for the rom

Somewhat similar situation. I previously rooted my HTC One X+ (Intl) with Viper X+ rom. I thought I would experiment with it as it is no longer my daily phone, and since I liked the Cyanogen experience on OnePlus One, thought i would try to install it on the HOX+.
I followed these official (?) instructions http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_enrc2b#Installing_recovery_using_fastboot, however, after getting CWM recovery on and then flashing via sideload command the ROM, I am now stuck in the CM bootloop animation and computer no longer recognises the device, and can't find anyway to get back to bootloader, recovery etc.
I did read about bootloop issues after this and some people said that the boot.imhg file should have been flashed separately (thanks CM for not including that instruction!), and somehow my computer recognised it one more time after the bootlooping started and I managed to get into fastboot to flash boot.img, but, then rebooted and bootloop again. Since then I have had no way to get back into recovery or bootloader, so it just runs until battery dies.
Should it go into the bin? Or anything else I should try?
Thanks so much for any
EDIT: Solved...I was able to get recovery back, then did full reset and followed instructions above re boot.img flash and now am back into my phone with a new lease on life and CM ROM!!
Two more noob questions if I may, now that I have my HOX+ back...
I am now running CM 10.2.1-enrc2b.
I have 3 updates available and being offered to me (upgrade to CM11 from CM10):
- cm-11-20140308-SNAPSHOT-M4
- cm-11-20140916-SNAPSHOT-M10
- cm-11-20140916-SNAPSHOT-M12
1. I downloaded and installed the latest M12, but upon rebooting it went into a bootloop for 15mins+. I then followed your instructions again to get back. So, it seems I at least need to install them in order starting from the earliest (ie M4), but before doing so I wanted to check if anyone knows if these are even compatible with my HOX+ (Intl)?
2. Which would be the best place to get the right gapps package and installation instructions (if CM can get it wrong, am now wary of someone else leaving out the critical boot.img flash step eg)?
Thanks!

EDIT: Nothing like some self-help. I am good now.

to get into bootloader, hold down the vol down and power, the home lights will flash (atleast they do when its booting), it will reboot, when you get the htc logo, let go of power button. and now try a stable er version of the rom.

ok, dont do an ota update in cm, you need s-off, which you cant get on the hox+
flash the rom, flash the boot image, boot, reboot into recovery, SIDELOAD gapps and that should work. use cm10 for the moment, as cm11 has an annoying system ui crash loop bug.
Thanks again for your clear and helpful pointers that got me out of a mess, I seem to have figured it out, downloaded the latest CM11 update and extracted boot.img for separate flashing and it all worked, then added gapps and seems working good now (except for dead touch zone from kids dropping it too many times probably!). The OTAs clearly don't work as is and CM probably should update their instructions and how they push major updates that need a new boot.img. Now to work out what to do with my spare phone...!
