[Q] Odin trouble - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

Okay so I downloaded everything as per the tutorial as per this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2290798 . I have searched several different sites and many different threads, almost finding my answer. My problem is that when I download the files they show up as image files and not tar. I am having some sort of problem with .tar file name with Odin. I found several links of how to, and great info but none of them are solving my problem. I found a link that almost had what I needed to fix it or was in the right direction, but somehow lost it or closed it. When searching using pda, the files do not appear in the file folder. For some reason they show as images in the file on my desktop. This is before and after extracting to see if either way made a difference. I even re-downloaded the links and they still show as image. I even tried typing it in manually it seemed to find the file but still did not work. I am using winrar one of the links I found said to try win7 or something but I couldnt get that to work either. I just want to root my new toy. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Help/Info regarding large tmp file in root directory

Hi All,
Am getting a bit desperate, as I've never before found a problem that has *absolutely* no result in even the most generic google/forum search.
Was running SDMaid on my Galaxy S5 (SM-900F; 4.4.2) and one of the .tmp files it came up with was named 'store_file.tmp' sitting in the 'root/data' directory. It was a whopping 1.81gb!
Have been trying to figure out if this is something I can safely delete or not, but even the most generic search of the filename on Google or the various android forums doesn't give me a single appropriate hit! The file hasn't been modified for a couple of weeks, but there's really no suggestion as to what program generated it. Have tried copying it to my PC and opening with verious text/hex editors, but none of them want to have anything to do with a file that size.
Has anyone come across this before? Any idea where it originates?

strange downloads aftet reboot

Hey there,
I have a strange issue - maybe someone can explain this or tell me how to get rid of this:
After rebooting I get notifications about a unnamed file which was downloaded several times. But the download folder is always empty ?*
I am quite riddled
Answers are very appreciated ?
I'm not sure if android file explorers have an option to hide files but I'd suggest trying to check if there are any hidden files in the downloads folder using your PC.

Help needed, deleting a file not visible on the phone but knowing the path

Hi Guys
First of all excuse me for posting here as I am far from a developer but you are the only ones who can help me with this.
Yesterday I was trying to download a file from Facebook, and it would download but then i could not find it anywhere, even plugged my phone to the computer and did a search and nothing. So I kept trying to download it.
Thing is today I used this password storing app and went to open my file where i have stored all my passwords (nothing to do with what happened yesterday).
And in most recent downloads i saw the 10 duplicates of the files i had downloaded yesterday, and this app gives me the path for example
content://com.android.providers.downloads.documents/document/5412
how can i delete them having the path for each one?
thank you so much
