Is there any way to increase the backlight further, because screen is not bright enough even when set to max. Maybe some registry hacks?..
I think this is possible, because if you guys had noticed, that when you start the 'Camera' app, the brightness increases a bit even when it was already set to max.
Even my previous Nokia 3100's screen is brighter (shame), so any suggestions would be appreciated. Thnx in advance..
Well, can't anyone help me?? (Even the experts??)
It's probably not possible to make it brighter. I think what you see with the camera is an illusion because it changes the LCD contrast/bright level, not the backlight level. It's not logical to think that the backlight is purposely limited to be less bright than it truly is.
That may be why there are no responses.
Well actually there's a response, since you're using the WM2003-SE it will decrease the brightness as I noticed from several flashing and I'm very aware of that and sensitive about this case. Further more, from couple minutes when I downgraded from 1.72.00 to version 1.66.00 WWE, it decreased as well, so if you flash back to 1.72.00 you'll notice the screen is much brighter than the WM2003 SE and the 1.66.00, I want to add something else. HTC released two type of Himalaya which is different in the Screen type and the flat cable socket. New releases are brighter than the predecessors.
a quick reply, adjusting brightness will also decreases the battery.
a big big diff.

At maximum brightness (or auto) I don't have any problem of readability under direct sun. It's not perfect, but readable.
What kind of problem? I also had an issue with the phone in direct sunlight. Darker colors would be all messed up on lighter backgrounds and I returned the phone back to Samsung under warranty.
I did had issues while set to auto brightness. For some reasons (battery was more then 50%) the handset didn't switch to higher brightness, but once I managed to half blindly set this up manually (not even to full 100%), it was perfectly readable.
Haven't tried the auto brightness since (it's pretty rainy today).
Hi did anyone notice that while watching movies screen brightness tends to go up and down by itself? Its like automatic brightness, but it does it even when its turned off. Even on lowest brightness setting i can see it going little bit brighter, then little bit darker, its quite annoying when watching videos...
Are you streaming or watching locally? Streaming content usually displays odd behavior. I use MX Player Pro and love it.
streaming - netflix.
but its doing this stuff even in games... its not that notiecable when brightness is high, but on lowest settings its so annoying...

I've had that issue on my first Prime. Eventually I replaced it. Haven't had any issues since then.
It's called DIDIM. Basicially it's supposed to automatically adjust brightness and contrast to save battery, you can read about it if you Google "Nvidia DIDIM". I agree that it's really annoying when watching things on low brightnesses in the dark, but hopefully software changes will be able to even it out to make it less annoying. It's a new technology, just have to give it time I hope.
this issue is already known als a * tegra 3 energy saving feature* and is in Android 4.0.3 still enabled and not a changeable value

ok im glad to hear that i wasnt sure if its some kind of "feature" or hw problem. Thanks a lot for explanation, and i hope they sort it out somehow in near future
Any update on this? I'm still having this issue
I had this problem 30 mins ago. I was watching podcast on my flight with brightness all the way down because it was dark on the plane and it would do it every time a white screen came on.
It is annoying but not worth complaining about. It would not be so bad if it didn't take so long to rise and lower the brightness.

I have a friend that bought a GS III recently. When I hold my GS III up next to his, with the same picture set for the background on both phones, both running on auto brightness, I notice that mine almost always looks less vibrant than his, and he agrees. It definitely isn't just my imagination. When both of our phones are set to max brightness, they look the same, the issue seems to go away. Is it common for different phones of the same model to have different ways of managing auto brightness? Is it possible that the screen on my phone simply has build quality issues? Also, is there anyway, short of always just messing with the brightness slider, to have the auto brightness work at a consistently slightly brighter level than it currently does? any apps out there that fix this?
Has anyone else experienced a similar issue?
Hello everyone.. You might have that problem where your phone's screen (probably a samsung phone) flickers and goes crazy in low brightness settings.. I've done a lot of searching about the problem or a possible solution. The only working solution I've encountered, which is a software one and requires root, is setting the brightness slider on the lowest point that doesn't cause flickering, then, applying a black overlay to lessen the brightness. I'm wondering about the brightness control mechanism... is it based on hardware and software mechanisms?(case1*) or based on hardware only? (Case2*) In case 2: at least we can adjust the minimum current the phone delivers to the display in order to disable brightness settings that cause flickering. In case 1: we would do as suggested in *case1, plus, we would let the software mechanism kick in to lower the brightness when the hardware mechanism is delivering the lowest amount of current that doesn't cause flickering. It's just an idea.. applying it might be as easy as changing some values in the phone os somewhere or flashing a custom kernel!. But finding that change is what i don't seem to have a clue about.. I have a SGS 5 mini duos.. but i think it doesn't matter as the problem presists in other models (S5, J7) I hope I'm posting in the right forum And i hope someone will figure out a better solution and thanks for reading
Up..
