I have a Belkin Screencast widi device that I use with my laptop. I figured it wouldn't work with the screen mirroring feature on the S4, but I opened it up, and it can see the receiver. So I decided to try to connect. If you hold down on the device in the app on the phone, it lets you enter the pin to connect. It goes through the "Connecting" steps, and on the TV it says "Connected" but the phone keeps spinning, saying "Connecting" before eventually failing.
I know that people have gotten the Netgear Push2TV devices to work with it, but I had one of those, and it didn't work a damn with my laptop. The Belkin device works much better with my laptop (although it's still buggy, I would call Widi an alpha product at best - that is, an alpha level product that's expensive and has been on store shelves for a while, go Intel) but it seems strange that it can walk so far along in the connection and then fail out.
Anyone able to get the mirroring to work with a Widi 2.0 receiver?
I could never get it to work on my Galaxy Note II. However, the firmware recently updated on the belkin device when I connected my laptop to it.
After that I was able to use screen mirroring on my Galaxy S4. However, since then I have not been able to get it to work again.
I have tried everything....even a factory reset on the S4 but still no luck.
i got it to work
i have one of those belkin push2tv widi receivers too for my toshiba. i kept getting bugs like it would disconnect after 30sec after i upgraded to win 8. i was being able to connect my s4 to it though, it was working pretty good, kept kinda disconnecting but it was working. i then updated the firmware a month ago and it started working flawlessly with the laptop but it stopped working with the s4. i see there have been some new updates for firmware things in the s4. maybe now it will work. i will let u know. but it was basically saying it's not compatible ...the s4 with the belkin...when i was trying to connect them. will see if samsung fixed it. there was an update for screen mirroring from what i remember.

Simply asked, will WMWifirouter work on the Sprint's Touch Pro? Or will it at least work as well on there as it does on my Mogul? (in that it will allow me to use the "Sprint PCS" as a teathering option instead of getting sprint's phone as modem service.)
I took a different route: Tether via USB cable which takes a lot less battery power to do than running WiFi. Yeah, cables are "old school" but they can be more practical at times.
Anyway, I can now tether my Sprint Touch Pro via a USB cable and do Internet sharing without subscribing to the "Phone as Modem" service. If you're interested in how I did that, visit THIS THREAD.

Short answer yes it works. Longer answer it works but you still have to do the ics hack first. There is a new version out there if you register it lets you do more things. It can work with the cable as well. The cost for the liscences version is 30 dollars us. It is worth it the old free version is also still out there. They both work I have used them. Tho the old version did seem to have some problems. Not sure if it was the phone or vista causing the problems tho.
I can confirm that the lastest version 1.25 works perfectly on the Sprint Touch Pro. It does allow you to choose "Sprint" as the network instead of "Phone As Modem". Also, with the latest version, there is no need to do the ICS hack. Just install, follow the prompts, and everything needed is setup for you.
I hope that helps!
So you said you got it to work without doing the ics hack? Their website says you must a working ICS and sprint by default turns that off. I have noticed I can't get ICS to work thru usb anymore since I installed it. any way the important thing is it does work. 15 day free trial in fact they request you test with the free trial before you can buy.
Let me add that though the latest version of WiFiRouter DOES indeed work perfectly with my TP and ANY computer with WiFi capability there is one drawback. After about 45 minutes of use, the TP is almost scorching hot on the backside. I limit my usage to make sure I'm not going to fry any of the internal components on the phone. Just my two cents.
WMWifiRouter is a great program. It works great for almost all of the computers that I have that I would want to have connected to the internet when I am on the road
EXCEPT
my lenovo laptop. it will not see the network created by wmwifirouter, no matter what I do.
wmwifirouter can only set up ad-hoc connections, and not infrastructure connections.
so make sure to test it out before you go and buy a licensem just to find out that you can't use it with your primary laptop
opening the keyboard and setting up so it is kind of sitting up helps it stay cool. It also has a temp reading in the program if it gets to hot it shuts down the connection anyway. I also cheat and hook up to my playstation 3 using their standard cable for the remotes and it charges my phone while it getting me online.
To combat the heat I made a "cold box" out of a small (5"x5")square shipping box and an old computer fan. I just set the phone inside it with the back removed and faced down so the bottom faces the fan. It never over heats.
I use a similar method to the cld box..a small desk fan with the back cover off and the TP stays cool
i cannot get my archos 101 to pair with my moto s305 headphones. it won't even recognize them when i scan. i use them quite a bit so this is a huge let down if i can't get it to work. just wanted to know if anyone else had any troubles in this department and if there is anything that may fix it or help me.
thanks

Jepp, having troubles too. Can pair with my HTC desire and my netbook, but connecting isn't possible. On my netbook there are no BT services showing up for the Archos, which is the reason a connection fails.
i was finally able to get my archos to see and pair with my headphones but it will still not let audio stream. so it will not fully connect, it says unable to pair with this device. this is a problem with archos because these headphones have paired with a dozen other devices no problem.
I've had problems getting my WiiMotes to connect. I have gotten them to connect twice - each time it was after a firmware flash. Once I d/c them I cannot get them to connect again.
Real bummer - wanted to play some SNES...
Yes, many ppl have had serious issues trying to connect an Archos Gen8 to their phones. So far, Droids seem to be the most "connectable" with the Archos. My rooted Moto Cliq with tethering enabled has never been able to connect no matter what I try (bluetooth or WiFi).
My only hope is that when the A70 gets rooted, there will be a custom firmware that actually makes tethering work properly. I'm fairly certain that it's a problem with Archos' software.
Nokia's seem to be connecting also through BT. I've read people with oldies like mine (E71, E72, E63, 5800s, etc.) that can teether and connect without problems. Haven't tried a headset yet though.
I just recently bought a white galaxy s2 from newegg. I have an MHL to HDMI cable incoming, and when I saw that you could use a mouse with the device, I was really excited.
link: I'm too new to post links, but search google for "magic mouse samsung s2" and the youtube link should pop up first.
However, even though I am able to pair a mouse (I've tried a magic mouse and a mini presentation Microsoft Bluetooth mouse so far) when it connects, it instantly disconnects... and it keeps doing that over and over.
Bluetooth is able to keep a connection with other devices, like a headset and transfer data over bluetooth to my computer.
When I called Samsung support, first the girl didn't know connecting to a mouse was possible, and upon seeing the video, her response was why would I ever want to do that, and there was nothing she could do to help.
I saw other threads mentioning bluetooth problems could be fixed with a factory reset, but after doing so I have identical behavior. I don't think its a hardware issue, and I applied the newest update 2.3.5... I'm really confused here. What should I do? Any other details required? Maybe my magic mouse just doesn't like my phone?
From what I have heard apple magic mouse does not connect correctly.do you or a friend have a different bt mouse to test?

I have now tested the Bluetooth with a Logitech lazer Bluetooth mouse, in addition to the magic mouse and Microsoft mouse, with the same results. Does anyone else have this problem? Could the mouse HID been disabled by Samsung? or should I do a hardware warantee exchange?

I bought a cheap (8€) noname bluetooth mouse from amazon and it works perfectly on the Galaxy S2 on the stock rom, it also works on my Galaxy S running CM7.
Are you sure you have set your mouse to pairing mode?
(I had to press the connect button for 5 seconds)
I'm sure it's pairing. I press and hold connect on the mouse until it becomes visible to my galaxy s2. It ends up showing up as paired after I tap, but when I tap again, it only connects for a second (enough that the options for that device now show me HID) but it just drops immediately. But perhaps these mice with special buttons (like the Microsoft presentation mouse) and apple mice, and the Logitech mouse, are all beyond the scope of running on the phone.
I bought a super basic and cheap bluetooth mouse ($15 cdn) from amazon, it should arrive in 1-2 weeks. I'll follow up with this then. If the phone can't connect to that, I'm going to call Samsung and ask for a hardware exchange.
Also, I may be able to get my hands on a USB host cable, to see if i can get any mouse period working.
I really can't imagine it being faulty hardware though, considering all other Bluetooth functions work? or am I incorrect in assuming that?
So I decided to see what happens with a Bluetooth keyboard, and indeed I get the same result, connecting for a second then dropping.
I'm going to exchange my unit for a new one, hopefully that solves the issue. I'm getting paranoid that something is different with the white galaxy s2, can someone extinguish those fears for me?

Alright, follow up post. The new phone connects to mice/keyboards fine. It is current on 2.3.3. Could someone with an updated 2.3.5 s2 just confirm that the feature still works after update?
Edit: Ok, i let me phone upgrade from 2.3.3 to 2.3.5, and nothing can pair once again. Wow. Did Sammy really remove this functionality?
Final edit: Flash stock 2.3.6, and mouse will work again. So to recap, 2.3.3 good, 2.3.6 good, 2.3.5 bad
I have an Apple Mighty Mouse which work fine with my SGS1. It doesn't connect to SGS2. Same issue, the connection drops out after a second. My SGS2 is running on 2.3.6 Batista ROM with Siyah 2.3 kernel.
HID Bluetooth killed by 2.3.5 upgrade
Hi, I think I have a good picture of what has happened having trawlled the net looking for answers. In summary:
2.3.3 and 2.3.4 supported and worked with bluetooth HID devices (like my sandberg mini bluetooth keyboard).
2.3.5 as suggested by Samsung key's had issues with bluetooth from the start. It all looked good until you turned bluetooth on then it went into a FREEZE, BLACK SCREEN, LOCK SCREEN cycle with a 20-30 second window at best to try and turn bluetooth off once you realised it, repeating "ad infinitum".
Some folks found that a factory reset cured this. I got a replacement from Otrange UK after a lengthy discussion!
BUT however you may have fixed this is seems that any bluetooth HID device (Mouse, Keyboard) will not stay connected against 2.3.5. They pair ok, they even actually connect for a fraction of a second then bomb out again.
I just spoke to Orange UK Tech who in turn spoke to Samsung who said they were "Not aware" of the issue but would "Escalate a resolution" and get back to me. 2.3.6 is supposedly about to come out for Orange UK within "2 Months" and will contain a fix. Apparently. Looking at other stuff, 2.3.6 does appear to be the best hope.
They confirmed something though; 2.3.5 back to 2.3.3 / 2.3.4 is not supported/advised/safe so waiting for the new version is the only hope.
All this, so the lists won't bounce a'la APPLE and have a blue "bottom of list" flash instead... Ok, maybe there was some good stuff in the rom but it's kinda been overshadowed for me
Good luck out there and hold on to your hope!
I heard back from Samsung support today (Orange having referred my case).
They said that their 2.3.5 was new (erm, yes) and that it wasn't backwards compatible, and for any devices that no longer worked I would have to get that devices supplier to provide new software on that device.
They used a car kit as an example.
So I specifically asked "Are you saying you released an update without any warning, that would render all previosuly compatible bluetooth HID hardware incompatible?" And he answered that this was the case and that I would have to ask Sandberg to update my device so that it would connect to 2.3.5
Now, either he had absolutely no idea what he was talking about, or there is something very wrong at Samsung.
I have asked for him to confirm this to me in an email. (I intend to make use of this writen statement if it confirms the above conversation.)
Has anyone else ever heard anything so bizzarre?
I surely hope this can't be right!
So i finally recieved a allshare cast dongle. However no matter what i do it displays nothing on my tv (or a monitor i tried it with). I'm guessing its DOA, but i just wanted to hear if anyone have any tricks before i send it back...
*Update* Got a replacement. Works great, much better than the HTC media link HD. Fairly smooth without being perfect. Seems the picture is compressed quite a bit though. Running JB leak btw.
Allshare cast dongle don't work with custom roms I hope that, they fix it as soon as posible.

I know, which is why i went back to stock... But thats not the issue. I can connect and all, but nothing gets displayed... Not even the "welcome" screen seen in video previews...
Updated OP
Hmm... At home it works like crap... I suspect due to 2.4ghz congestion... However it should run on 5ghz, but there seems to be nowhere to check that :
Also the audio plays through the phone speaker... (Might be a JB problem though)
im getting the wireless allshare cast dongle here shortly....and i just wanted to know. will it work with all android phones? My note, Skyrocket, S3....and future use with my Note 2 ?
i dont think i will buy one if i can not use it down the line or with my other phones.
Hi guys if your reading this maybe you can help me. I have an appradio3 that I to be able to cast my screen onto. Now brief background, I used to be on Verizon limited data with a rooted note2 that I direct connected via HDMI. I now have mistakingly switched to att and now i have a new note7 that doesn't have anyway to connect directly to the deck since Samsung has taken it out. Now I've since read about using a Chromecast and casting that way. That's all well and good if and only if you have a Wi-Fi hotspot on your phone which I don't and i dont want to pay for the very limited hotspot plan for my phone to do that. Now I'm not opposed to rooting my note7 which I've looked into that but I've got an sm-n930a. And using the Sprint method doesn't work well for my model. Seen a video were a guy did get his tmoblie phone to root but the process was very lengthy. Or I'm not opposed to rooting if possible the Chromecast. I've got both the newer and the older version of that. I've looking briefly through the Chromecast threads and didn't see if once rooted that you could Wi-Fi direct to the CC. Like once your setting it up it Wi-Fi directs to your phone then switches to normal Wi-Fi. Is this possible??? Or if there's any other device that could get this to work with an appradio3 I'll totally try that.

I'm guessing after the note 7 recall this issue has "solved" its self... I am curious what you did wind up doing. I have the same App radio 3. I used to mirror my S5 to the thing with a samsung hdmi adapter and had full bluetooth touch controlls. Ever since android started setting selinuix to enforced it has become an issue to emulate touch control from the app radio to the phone. Screen mirriroing alone didnt really make me all that happy since I couldnt make it do much without touching the phone. Do you by chance have any advise on this?
What phone did you go to after the Note 7?
Well unfortunately I've gone to an iPhone 7 plus. Which I'm a droid person at heart and it's been a hard switch. Mainly cause I like the ability to mod the droid over iPhone. That said though the iPhone can still hook up to the AppRadio once you've got the appropriate adapters. So right now I can mirror the phone and can watch YouTube videos on the deck. If watching a YouTube it'll allow the phone to go dark or browse for your next video. Still looking into loading videos on the iPhone than watching them on deck but haven't put to much effort into as of yet. The real bummer is that there isn't no support to mod the iPhone to use full touch screen like if you had a droid with the hdmi. I've actually posted on several iPhone forums with just the question and after 2 months have not gotten a response. I still have my note2 and could hook that stuff back up but I have no internet on it so I couldn't watch YouTube from it. And I know this is droid forum but if anybody can help with modding the AppRadio app for iPhone like they did for the droid I'd throw some funds your way, but I can't throw to much since winter time is slow work months for me.
