4G shutting off during Spotify play - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

My 4G is shutting off by itself. I can play one Spotify song, then it shuts itself off.
Power manager is off, and I am running Juice Defender Aggressive Mode, but Spotify is whitelisted as needing internet access. I have rebooted.
I am stock rooted and running no ROMs. I have used the Wifi Notification removal tool.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?

care to share how you solved it?

It was a Juice Defender setting: enable/screen off.

[Q] Alternative to Juice Defender? It keeps turning off my Data Network

Hello all,
I have been using Juice Defender for a few weeks and the last two days I noticed I couldn't connect to the internet. I then noticed that my data network had been turned off and after doing a little research I believe that Juice Defender is indeed the culprit. Is there any other battery savers out there that are basically the same that won't do this to me?
Thank you for your time,
AJ
What are your settings in juice defender, cause you can customise power saving profiles..
I just set it on balanced. What is a good setting?
Balanced is good, click customize and set it to your liking... The free version wont give you much customization, you might wanna get the paid version "Ultimate" for maximum customization options..
I have never used juice defender, but most of the "battery saver" apps I am familiar with get most of their battery savings by disconnecting data except for short periods of up time.

OK. I wonder why it shut my data completely off and didn't turn it back on. Hows battery 2x
Just curious how much does juice defender actually save on battery? Currently I get about 4-4.5 hrs screen time, is juice defender really gonna improve it that much?
(sorry for the ot)

I personally found that JD killed my battery faster when it was enabled. I got rid of it a long time ago.
Alternative to Juice Defender? Nothing.
Just don't use it, except:
Use BetterBatteryStats to identify apps that are hogging your battery by holding wakelocks, and uninstall them.
Use Advanced Task Killer to kill wakelocking apps that you HAVE to keep around for whatever reason, but want to kill if they're holding wakelocks. (Like Facebook - that's the only app I kill after bootup at this point.) - Note, NEVER use an automatic task killer, and never use a task killer for memory management, only for killing wakelock holders.

+1 on that. I didn't see any battery saver app that does not do it.

Why not use AutoStart?
It prevents FB from starting all together till you actually open it up.
I need to figure out how that app actually works then maybe I can modify it myself in the rom/apk.
I use Green Power and it has helped me get longer battery life. The only thing I have enabled in it is mobile data tweaking: Mobile data is turned on only for a minute and then turned off for 10 mins while the screen is off. It has settings to define day and night (11pm to 6am). Above toggling behavior happens only during day while screen is off. During night, mobile data is turned off completely. You can even go to airplane mode if you want to.
Using Llama, I simply set WiFi to go off when screen turns off and turn it back on when screen turns on.
I also use Llama to turn on bluetooth when the phone is ringing or when I am in a call. Bluetooth is then made to turn off when the call ends. I don't use bluetooth for music, so this setup works for me.

I use the Titanium Backup Pro's freeze/defrost/launch widget to prevent FB from running in background. One click to defrost and launch it and another click to freeze it.
I use tasker. Very powerful program. Can tell your phone to do so much, whenever you chose. Since I am a lazy guy, I tell it to shut off data/wifi when screen is off. I also do things like disable Bluetooth after a certain time (don't need bluetooth while I am sleeping).

I use myprofiles. I use it to automatically turn off auto sync while I'm at work, and turn on airplane mode while I'm sleeping. I can get nearly 2 days with light to moderate usage.
I set it and forget it, never have to manually adjust settings. Different than juice defender, but works for me

I love tasker. Use it to turn on wifi when I'm near home, turn on GPS when I load up maps, and all types of other stuff.

Issue w/ Data dropping with LockScreen

Odd issue and I will use Pandora as an example. I usually stream music through my phone in my car over the AT&T data connection. Odd thing is, if my screen locks by itself when a song is playing it will not play the next song, due to no data connection, until I unlock the screen.
The only thing I can think of, and I admit I have not verified yet, is if it is Juicedefender doing this when the screen locks. I will test this out by uninstalling and verifying, but I wanted to see if anyone else has anything similar happening to them.
I haven't used juice defender is some time but I think unless you tinker with some of the settings. It will shut off your data anytime the screen locks. Try digging into some of the options.

I almost made this exact thread the other day. The problem is juice defender. It's actually not a problem because that's how it works by design. When you run pandora, pandora caches the song it's playing so while it's playing that song, there's no active data transfer so juice defender shuts down the data connection when the screen locks.
To fix it you can either get one of the upgraded pay versions of juice defender which let you set up a list of apps that you don't want JD to shut down the data when they're open or just do what I do........disable JD when you're running pandora.
I appreciate the replies from you both! Thanks

Juice Defender widget locker [solved, delete]

I’m trying to use Juice defender so I can listen to podcasts at work without the network and syncing draining my battery but when I turn it on my network never seems to turn off, it’s constantly connected to 4G.
I realized that this only occurs with widget locker being used, when I disable it and use the defualt lock screen then juice defender works as it should. Is there any way to make these two apps work together?
Edit: I made it work by installing 'No Lock' and fiddling with the settings. If anyone else wants to know how to get it to work I can try to figure out what I did exactly. Otherwise a mod can delete this

What is keeping Android System awake?

Any ideas? I only installed a couple of apps thats all. Have to restart phone to make it sleep? Weird. And i realized after i turn on my screen my data has to activate. How do i find out which rogue app is causing this?
Could it be that i just plugged in a usb thumb drive or something?

Install Better Battery Statts and cpu spy to monitor unusual app activity`s and for possible cpu deep sleep issues.

Greenify Keeps Turning My Display On Dimly Then Keeps Shutting Off at Least Hourly

Hi, I've been using Greenify for quite a while, and love it. However, recently my Note 4 has been turning on by itself with a dim display, closings apps and shutting off again. I believe that is the process to shut off apps after you've shut the phone off for a few minutes, but mine is doing it at random times, and because it is dim I can't particularly see the first app each time it is shutting off.
I keep a list of every app I install and changes I make to the system, because I have run into problems with installed apps before, so now I reverse uninstalled all apps that I recently installed, and it is still doing the same thing! Is there some way/some app for me to tell what is causing it to turn on and shut down apps over and over? I really like Greenify, and I know it's not taking a lot of juice to turn on and do the close thing, but it is irritating every time I hear it turn on, make the popping sound to close apps, and shuts off again. PLEASE HELP!!!
Thanks,
First check that exposed is fine and clear. If is all cool, than it's greenify beta version. Probably.
Hi, I'm not running Xposed Framework, just the "Automated hibernation". I have Lollipop version 5 on my phone.

If you are unrooted, that is the normal behaviour when an app you chose for hibernation, wakes up the device. With root, the screen will not light up but still the other actions will go on.
Earlier in non-root mode, the screen would light up bright. After people complained, the Dev has dimmed the screen. I don't think it is possible to hibernate without lighting up the screen.
You can disable the sounds so that it doesn't irritate you much.

Thanks for the thorough answer. And yes, I am not rooted. The odd part to me though is that it wasn't happening until about a week ago, and then it started. I've tried to retrace all my steps to see what I've installed since then, changed, etc. but reversing all these activities still does not cause it to stop starting up like it is doing now. Do you know of any app or some way I could see what is causing it to wake up so that Grennify needs to keep shutting it down? I would really appreciate it!

Have you hibernated any system app (I think not, without root)? If so, a background update might have changed its behaviour.
If you can, backup all third party apps and then uninstall them and see whether your problem is solved. If not, it is a system app which causes it. See for which system apps you can roll back the update and then roll them back one by one and check.
I have no idea about any app which shows you what is waking up the device at any particular point.

This is happening to me also after installing latest beta 3 update. It is accompanied by 2 toast messages saying greenify has been granted root, and a long list of all apps that were put into hibernation. Seems to only happen when phone is plugged in to USB or outlet.
I am rooted running lite rom and cataclysm mod. I do not have xposed installed.
I uninstalled beta version, opted out and reinstalled standard release and it hasn't happened since.
Don't update the greenify.

seems that greenify is disconnecting power as well when this occurs

I have also expressed this concern on other thread. I downgraded to beta 1 and the issue didn't reoccur again.

Figured out what was causing mine to continue to turn on over and over. It was Google Fit. I uninstalled apps that I have installed recently (I keep a list of every app I install), and once Google Fit was removed, the Greenify turning on the phone and shutting it down stopped! FYI for others with this problem.
Thanks,
Dave

i don't have google fit installed and i was having the issue.
i downgraded to 2.7 (non beta) and greenify works correctly.
-i still have trouble with random reboots when all xposed features are enabled. haven't taken the time to narrow down which feature is causing this
I don't see HOW to turn sounds off, the popping IS annoying.
I have an unrooted S3 Galaxy Thanks!

I have a similar problem. When Greenify locks the screen on my LG G4 I cannot open screen with a double tap, like I was able to in the past, I have to push the power button to be able to use my phone. I have Android 6.0, Greenify 4.1, non-rooted. Tried disabling Auto hibernation for manual, same problem. Have donation package (But can't find icon) . Love Greenify, used to work great but have to fix this problem. Please help.
