The tower near by finally switched over to 4G today. I've always had crappy 3G service at my house, and have been waiting for this day to come hoping it would improve signal a bit and provide faster service. I don't have DSL/Cable options, so my primary source of inet is Verizon. Does anyone have any idea why the phone would show 4G signal in advanced signal status, but only connect to 3G. I know i'm in a bad area, and sometimes if your near a window it will switch to 4g...but it ALWAYS shows a 4G connection if you open advanced signal status. I am debating on getting the Wilson 4G LTE 700 signal booster...but not too sure yet. Any suggestions?

Been somewhat aggravated with how the phone displays cell signal for the longest time. Maybe I'm just not understanding how it should be displayed, but......
Service w/ 0 bars

I understand I may have just enough service for the "T-Mobile" to be displayed, but not enough service to display 1 full bar. Here's where I'm confused.....
"Searching" w/ 4 bars
I don't know how many times I've shown 4 bars and tried sending a text only to have it fail right away. IMO, if my phone is searching for signal, it shouldn't be showing any bars.
This is only happening at work where I have horrible signal. At home is no problem.
Ran Speed test on low (zero bars) reception, still got great speed!

Too bad it changes the time on your phone
Nah, you read my post wrong Speed Test doesn't change it, it is the DNS server you are routed thru on 4G.
I seem to be having trouble with wirelessly tethering. Every time I try to tether either the 3g seems to toggle on and off every 30 seconds or the 3g stays on and just hangs. I am on the 605.3 radios and flashed CDMA first followed by LTE. I HAVE to stay in CDMA - rev. A mode other wise I lose all data connections.
Another thing I noticed is that I can not connect to the LTE network. I assume this is because I have to stay in rev. A, but upon flashing the new radios this is what I have for connection types.

CDMA (PRL) works and unknown works until I enter a LTE area.
What should I do?
I have 2Gb unlimited data plan, currently used about 500Mb..
The 4G speed is so slow, I called Tom CS, they said its the tower's problem, and wanted me to wait for two days..
The following pictures are the results of Speedtest..
The download speed that more than 5Mbps is tested in Manhattan, NY.. Others are tested in my area, Elmhurst, Queens..
I am wondering if this is my phone's problem..

Hey man if it helps I had that same problem, T-Mobile is updating their tower in a ton of places including underground work. Had that exact problem on my s2 for about 4 days.

I am currently using the -dBm signal to see my cell reception in my Hyperdrive rom. I no longer need or want the regular cell signal bars. Does anyone know how I can get rid of the cell signal bars without getting rid of the WiFi or 4G icons? I want to keep those. Is this possible with root or an Xposed module? Once again, I don't want to get rid of the WiFi or 4G icons, just the cell signal bars next to the 4G icon in the screenshot below since I don't need them anymore.
