my phone is stuck on the install screen how do I reset my phone to get back to recovery?
Hold down power button for awhile. Capacitive buttons will flash then reboot.
Find a bright light and hold phone under it. Press and hold the power button until the phone shuts off.

for some reason if holding the power button alone doesn't work, and sometimes it doesn't overwhelming the ambient light sensor does the job. It's the same on the HTC Butterfly too.

I honestly thought you were trolling as well, good trick to know.
its to prevent accidental button combos while its in you pocket or bag. it uses the light and proximity sensors to determine if its in a pocket or bag
I about laughed, then I knew you know what you are talking about, so I went and did your suggestion, and lmao, it worked. I was going crazy in my dark dungeon of an office, then I saw the light. Thanks for that.
Aroma is not very stable. I personally use up and down keys instead of touch screen and it works much better. Also I try to not rush. Once you get to next screen, wait 2 to 5 seconds then use up and down and then power to select or push buttons. Works for me every time.

This will save your power button. This app uses motion detected by your proximity sensor to turn your phone on.
Just installed it and it works awesome. Works so good you can just hold your phone and wiggle your thumb in front of the sensor and it turns on. All with the same hand
Here is the link to it in the market. Enjoy

Hit up my THANKS if you liked it.
Hmm... I'm giving this a try now. I'm worried how it will function in my pocket. Also, I'm more comfortable using my phone in my right hand.and reaching the sensor with the right hand isn't totally comfortable. But, I'll play with it and see how I like it. Cool app anyways. So thanks!

Don't know. Only had it installed for a couple of hours.
Been testing this for a while now. Doesn't use any battery so that's awesome.
I had to use this on my O.G. Evo because i had worn out the power button from flashing too much. Seems like it worked ok but at times it would lock up where I couldnt get it to turn the phone on to save my life. Ofcurse I'm sure they've gone thru plenty of updates since then.

That's what I use but it doesn't have the option to turn the screen on by tapping the sensor. I might have to check this other one out.
Why do I need to "save" my power button? That doesn't make sense, lol. As long as you're not bashing the power button to turn it on you're fine..
Tried out all ways to reliably trigger the prox sensor with one hand.
Finally fingered it out Holding the phone in my left hand, I can use my forefinger to double tap the edge of the phone just over the prox switch.
I don't have any real use for this....but it is pretty cool!
A pretty slick maneuver I found was to quick draw from my holster, then hold the phone towards the bottom, then do a quick double swipe over your sleeve then your unlocking thumb is in the right place!

This is for people who'd rather rub the paint off the area around their prox sensor than wear out the power button. Nice to have choices, I must admit!
Mike
This would be helpful for the seidio extended battery since the power button doesn't really work

Wouldn't the difference be that you have to just lightly tap the proximity sensor while you have to actually press down on the power button? I don't foresee any paint rubbing off around the sensor.

It works about half an inch from the phone also so no need to touch
Cool.
But shouldn't this be in the EVO 3D Themes and Apps forum?

Save the Power button but totally drain your power. Battery power.
No way I'm running an app that will force my sensors to be on at all times.
I've been using this for a few hours now and it doesn't seem to be draining the battery.
Cool app, testing now.
Edit: Im on a G2, and it works sweeeeet. Still testing.

Suit yourself, doesn't drain whatsoever.

Thanks

I don't know of any hack/mod that will do that, but I put my finger over the light/proximity sensor to make the buttons light up if I have trouble seeing them.
Be happy you can do that, I couldn't do it on my last phone.

Thats what Im doing now but its a pain. Thanks for replying, and hopefully someone knows..
Has anyone else noticed that the LEDs behind the home and back button are the dimmest of any HTC phone so far ? Next to my regular one, a DNA, and a rezound you can almost barely see them! The display model and the vzw employees all looked the same.
Hoping a software fix is coming ..
Edit- these are the softkeys not hardkeys...

I personally am happy about that. First phone I have not wanted to turn the background light off completely.

I agree. I know in general where to press for the home and back soft keys so having them light up at all isn't that big of a deal.
+1 prefer the dim leds also....
Hey guys, something that iv'e been noticing lately that has been an annoyance. I notice sometimes when I pull my phone out of my pocket and press the power button nothing happens unless I press it twice, it seems the power button doesn't respond until the second screen turns on. Is this some sort of software setting that has to do with the gyro sensor and being in my pocket?

I can't reproduce this. In fact my phone will turn on in my pocket of it press the power button. Fingerprint reader unlocks it there.

This is my first LG phone, I honestly could be pressing a volume button by mistake, but I can't figure it out! I also do not use the fingerprint reader, not sure if that would really make a difference with this situation however.
I've had back buttons using the G2 and G3. It took me a while to not press a volume key instead of the power button. I always used knock on with those phones though, never the power button. Fingerprint reader has been awesome to me. If it's taking 2 taps you might have a defective unit.

No, you got it right. The phone is basically sleeping while the second screen is off. It doesn't turn on until the proximity sensor trips it to come back on. Put the phone in your pocket and wait a minute. Take it out really quick and try and turn it on. Or even use the knock on..... It won't work.... It's kind of annoying.... Lol.
Android Central mentioned that annoyance in their review.... :banghead:

Yup, I just put it on a flat surface for a few seconds, quickly picked it up and hit the power button. Nothing. Annoying!
Hi,
The power button on my Redmi Note 10 has become too sensitive. It reacts to the slightest touch, I just put the case on it, they literally barely touch each other, and immediately the phone turns on or off. I had a problem with restarting tself, probably because the button is stuck. Does anyone know if the problem can be solved without changing the button, and what is the approximate price for the button?
My phone is out of warranty because camera glass and back cover are broken.
same thing happened to my volume down button
for me the solution was to press the button really hard until its sensitivity fixes itself

Just 4-5 seconds
Wow, it's real!
Last night I encountered this type of oversensitive, but now my F3 works properly.
I tried 3,4 times of few seconds strong pressing with towel, depends on your phone.
