Thank you for the link. However, I received the following Google Play Store message at the end of the process: "Application not installed"
Everything else worked just like downloading any other app.
Thanks again for your help.
try going to setting, applications, then manage application, and uninstall update on google playstore, and you should be back at stock market,
then go to my files and click on downloaded apk file and install.

Went to manage applications, but did not get the option to uninstall updates, currently running Google Play Build version 3.5.16.
Thank you
if you have root explorer, this should be fairly easy. go to system, app, and then find com.android.vending or playstore. change permision to Mount r/w to r/o. just delete that, and then try installing the downloaded apk normally. see if that works

Thank you. I can get the Play Store loaded as User App, but not as System App. Also, New Play Store works fine until an APP update is processed. The YP-G70 crashes at this point; luckily I had a back up.
I will keep trying to solve this problem. Thanks again for your help.
I'm not sure, but it could be because the Google Play store version 4.0+ should be updated on android ics+.
My device is on android 4.2.2 jelly bean and my Google play updated in its own.

I have a 10.1 tab and I never had problem going to Android Market or recently updated to Google Play Store. However, since last night I was trying to download a ADWtheme and it was getting some kind of -101 error downloading. I realized that all of the apps are giving me the same error. So i tried going to settings-->manage applications-->and clear the cache for the google play Store and also tried to unistall the updates back to original Android Market but still giving me "server error, Retry". Now absolutely no entry to the market. What is going on?? I tried signing out from the google account and re-signin but the same error message.
I wish I can uninstall the market and reinstalling it, but if i unistall the market how can i get it back?? do i have to download the apk from the computer first?? This is really getting frustrated. I hope someone can give me a solution. Greatly appreciated.
Thanks in Advance.

Can you get to the google play store from a browser? If not maybe it is actually a server problem or issue between your ip and the server. It's happened to me at least once but resolved itself.

Yes, I can access through the browser. But this problem is since last nite (more than 24 hour so far and going). Just don't think it should behave like that. However, my galaxy S2 phone can access randomly but not my tab. Well, if anyone has a solution. Please let me know.

Root Explorer has always been there on the market, maybe they took it down for some reasons, eitherway you can always find it via Google
You can also us the ES File Explorer. There you have to enable "root explorer" and "mount system" in the setings.
Another possibility is to use the Filemanager HD,whereyou also have to enable the same settings.
Both work on my tab and I can edit system files.

Not working here either but I'm in St lucia on a wifi only. Returning to the states Friday morning. Tried force stops and clearing app, not resetting or anything down here. Wife's wifi phone was OK earlier. Not sure now. Its a et4g .

Yes, it is rooted and still didn't work for me. But Like it post it before, the problem has fix itself on its own. So that is why I assume is the google server problem.

I am in China and am currently having the same problem. Play did not come installed on the phone and after I downloaded and installed it on my I9300 it doesn't load. blacks my screen for a split second then kicks me back to my home screen.
Any ideas?
What if you delete the current PhoneSky.apk from the system/App
and flash the current Gapps, that may fix it.
To properly install Play Store on the phone you need:
- a rooted phone
- a deodexed version of the APK
- NO DO INSTALL THE APK using the usual methods
- rename the APK to Vending.APK
- copy the APK to /system/app/Vending.apk
- reboot

I'm going total neophyte mode here: this is my first Android phone (former iOS dummy) and I have little experience using Android. My phone is rooted with the CF-root from Chainfire. As for deodexed APK, what exactly does that mean? Also, you mentioned that I need to copy it to a filesystem location...how to access that? Again, sorry for sounding like and idiot but this is all so incredibly new to me.

I suppose your apk itself got corrupted somehow.
May be you can search on the net for that version of apk and download it from some of the websites that allows you to download apk directly rather than from Google Play.

Hello,
So I've downloaded the black themed play store, was so excited when I flashed it. But now I want the original play store back! I have a back up of the original play store but once I install it, the app wont be installed because its a different signature..Any Suggestions?
Try removing the Play Store apk you have installed (with titanium or something like that) then install your backup apk.

Thanks for your help. Have you tried it yourself? And does it auto update
When I try to install an app it says app not installed. I have tried signing the app, changing the version number and can't get it to work. I have tried installing apks I have downloaded and patched apks from lucky patcher and nothing works. So is there something that doesn't allow the phone to install modified apps?
I can't install samsung keyboard apk on my samsung galaxy s9+
Are you trying to install a new version of an apk that's already on your phone? If so, can you uninstall the older version first?
it is Android 8.0 security features. Google removed install unknown source. You need to give specific permission to file browsers or apps that does the install - for example, if you have app, copy to your phone, and open Samsung File, and click to install.

Emm nobody?
Samsung blocked sideloading most of it's system apps. Nothing you can really do about it.
Replace app with tutuapp
Your Android application may not be suitable for them. What you need to do now is:
Try updating Android, otherwise you go to the store by reinstalling your device, but this is very time consuming and costly. You can also use tutuapp android (visit tutuappplus.net to download) this free app store that helps me use great apps for Android.
