Hello all!
I bought a THL W8 in Argentina, and I noticied that it works ok in GSM (QUAD BAND) but in WCDMA it only works in 850/2100.
I just ask if there is any baseband flasheable zip to enable 850/1900 instead of 850/2100 knowing that maybe its included in the hardware but capped by software baseband.
Thanks!!!

Hi all, I'm Martin from Argentina, I write to ask and know if you can help me or guide me to find a solution.
I have a U20i that brought me outside.
When I received the phone had Android 1.6 and upgrade to 2.1.
I do not remember if the previous version had 3G, with almost no use.
My phone provider supports 850 and 1900 MHz bands.
In the configuration, network mode, I can see options:
- WCDMA
- GSM
- GSM / WCDMA (preferred)
When I search for available networks, I see only 2G networks.
Phone Details:
Mobile Network Type: EDGE
Firmware Version: 2.1-Update1
Kernel Version: 02/06/1929
Build Number: 2.1.1.A.0.6
Can you help me get a 3G signal?
PD: Sorry for my English
Thank you very much.
Greetings.
U20i does not support 3G on the 850/1900 bands. No one can help you get 3G signals with that phone.
Than you...
I confirm that I have an U20i
Hello, i live in Argentina and here UMTS/3G networks use the 850 Mhz band, as you know this is different to the 3G bands in use in Europe/Asia/Brasil, So far i haven't seen any GingerBread ROMs for the Galaxy Ace that use that Band.
I was wondering if using ODIN i could flash BOOT/PDA/CSC and leave the old Froyo MODEM ROM installed.
There is a brazilian modem working on your band, 850 mhz. Look this post

Nope, that won't work, Brazil uses the 2100 Mhz band,
I've already tried that ROM with no luck, had to return my phone.

Believe me, that works on 850 mhz frecuency. Mexician users had no problem with telcel in that band
I have North American version of RAY ST18a (WCDMA / HSPA 850 Mhz, 1900 Mhz) All mods and custom kernels are done for ST18i version. If i will use them i will loose my 3G network capabilities.
How i can flash / port 3G WCDMA radio park of the kernel from ST18a to ST18i ROM?
Hi, you don't have to worry. The bands are hardware. The mods and custom kernels will not affect your 3G capabilities. I have an ST18a as well.
Only thing is.. It will show up as an ST18i on the google market... but that's purely aesthetic
So then is there any SW difference I ans A ? There should be one...
I've installed doom kernel, no problem. But when I try to put CM 7.0x mod in CWM it returns an error that my phone is ST18i and can't proceed...
I have both a RM-801 and a RM-819, I just flashed 7.8 to my 801 with NaviFirm and the NCS. I was wondering if it was possible to use the 801 FW on the 819, as I don't see the 7.8 FW for the 819.
If this has already been asked and answered, please point me to the thread. I saw something about using 819 FW on a 801, but not vice versa.
Thanks!!
yes you can flash if rm is different but phone models are same
Thanks!

Dont know if roms all also band related..
Nokia Lumia 800 variants
RM-801 / 800 - Global - GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz, WCDMA (3G) Band I (2100), Band II (1900), Band VIII (900)
RM-819 / 800.1 - US - GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz, WCDMA (3G) Band I (2100), Band II (1900), Band V (850)
Well if it doesnt work just flash the original fw back.
Works. Already got like that and no problems with 3g or signal... so, go ahead and flash it!
My GF has a 801-819 from US, which ROM on navifirm is the generic, unbranded one?
Is there is a way to flash change the modem for my S3 I9305 (international unlocked) so that it works with Wind mobile which uses the 1700 band?
Is there a custom ROM for this, or a modem rom I can flash to make this happen?
Hey Max,
what model do you have?
i9300-international
or the i9305 ?
Anyways both models doesn't and will not support the 1700 band as it's a hardware and not software.
sorry mate..

I thought the modems were just software controlled for the bands?
The modem can affect your signal, but only as long as your device has the required hardware.
I mean, you can't control the TV from your S3 as you don't have the IR like the S4 does
