[Q] Should i upgrade to JB on xperia go ? - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

hey guys,
I just bought my xperia Go, and i've been reading around, to "assimilate" all this information. I have a couple of questions:
Fact1: My phone is a locked bootloader, and is not possible to unlock.
Fact2: It has ICS 6.1.1.B.1.54
Fact3: My carrier (tmn Portugal) still isnt upgrading to Jb. So for me there is no official update to JB yet.
Questions:
Should i upgrade to JB ? wich rom should i use? If i upgrade to official JB, its not possible to root yet? Or should i root my phone before upgrade? Im confused, if you guys could help me out. Thanks

Do you get notification update at Sony PC Companion?
If no you need to root your phone and change SI number at build.prop to get update or you can download JB ft and flash via flash tool.

Hey Ben, thanks for your answer.
Nope, i don't get any update notification. What method do you recommend?
On the link below, there is 2 JB oficial ftf files, which one should i use?!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2267712
Also, if i update to a stock JB firmware, i will not be able to root?
Thanks

Update availabe for Xperia Neo- Build 4.0.2.A.0.62

Hi guys,
I Just want to inform you that yesterday I updated my Xperia neo and got 2.3.4 build 4.0.2.A.0.62.
Does anybody know what are changes since previous build?
Using 4.0.2.A.0.62 I can not root using DooMLoRD_v3_ROOT-zergRush-busybox-su,
So becareful, you may need to wait until some solution for rooting is found.
Is It Available For Neo V Too ... Cant Find In My Region.. Will Wait Till There Is Any Solution For Rooting
Which region are you in?
Screenshot of about phone?

I have rooted 4.0.2.A.0.62.
First I flashed InteksV15 kernel. After I used DooMLoRD_v3_ROOT-zergRush-busybox-su.
it's working
But after it will be running on Inteks kernel. You may need to extract original one from 4.0.2.A.0.62
and reflash it.

I have my neo rooted with locked bootloader and 0.42 firmware.
If I upgrade to 0.62 ,I supposed it won't be rooted any more.
Right?
Any way to root it again with locked bootloader?

I can get the update, but I have an unlocked bootloader so I used flashtool. But I had a conversation with @SonyEricssonNL, and it turned out I have a scandinavian SI number.
I think you can just use flashtool to flash the ftf, also non-rooted.

Is this a custom rom or a program to root locked bootloader?I am interested in rooting my xperia u with locked bootloader in order to change my customization number and flash the phone with arabic firmware from se update. Thanks!
When the U ICS update rolls out next week - is it expected we can use the "Root Many Android" method to obtain root without unlocking the bootloader?

yes, you are on GB,
see the instructions under GB for root,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Sony_Xperia_U
try this also
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2063029
though rooting ICS can be achieved on locked bootloaders where on GB you may need to unlock it !
update to ICS and root, is what i suggest.

[Q] [SUS] Update from 2.3.3 to 2.3.4, NOT ICS ?

Hi guys,
My apologizes if its been asked already. From my quick research it hasn't.
So, the GF just got an Xperia Ray (essentially the same phone) its on 2.3.3 and she would like to update it to 2.3.4 and NOT ICS.
She says that when she launches Sony Update Service the program only asks to update to ICS...
Any idea?
Would like to keep the official updating method here;
Thanks in advance.
yea SUS only gives you the ICS update..but it might give you the GB update when the new one (4.0.2.A.0.84) releases.. (if it releases )

Yea in fact I checked her phone last weekend and there was 4.0.2.A.0.62 OTA update available, she just thought it was Android 4.0. I must admit its pretty misleading.
So updated it and done!

[Q] Updating firmware while rooted

Hi all,
I have a rooted xperia go 6.1.1.b.1.54. I have a notification for an update for 6.2.A.0.400 and was wondering if I am able to update the firmware while my device is rooted? How do I do so? I'm quite new to this and i am afraid that i may brick my phone while updating my firmware. Lol
Just flash your ics .54 ftf using flashtool.. Then update.. Or while you're rooted change si no in build.prop to this 1264-7472.. You'll get the latest a.1.100 firmware update through pc companion!

So there are two ways? 1.)Flash .54 then update, 2.)change si no in build.prop and update through pc companion.
Hmm, I think i will do the 2nd one.
Just making sure. Uhm when I change my si no in build.prop to 1264-7472 and update through pc companion, will my device update from .54 to a.1.100 directly? Is this perfectly safe? I'm a bit paranoid haha
Yes it is perfectly safe.. !! Just change the si number n reboot.. You'll get the update
Oh and another thing, will I lose my root once i get updated to a.1.100?

Download stock gingerbread FTF file for your phone. (search On xda, ull find it) then download flashtool... Ull find it on xda also or u can Google.
And you can watch a video tutorial on how to flash a ftf file using flashtool on YouTube.
