Just curious if anyone else has had to reboot their phones to get mms messages to start working again after this last update? Could be purely coincidental and just something with AT&T general, but would like to know if I am the only one here.

I had an issue with SMS where I had to reboot. Can't quite pin it down yet either, but I am on .12 too.
I haven't noticed any sms/mms issues with .12. I've been running Scott's rooted version since the day it came out.
I have been experience some random sms issues before the upgrade where I can't send any MMS. If I put the phone in airplane mode and take it back out it works. After the update, I haven't seen this happen anymore but it has only been 24 hours so time will tell.
Ok, well it's good to know I'm not the only one. Assuming it's just AT&T related then and not firmware related as person above is not running stock.

Ok, so for some reason today i havent received alot of texts or calls from anyone, and this kinda just randomally started happening, im a huge texter sometimes upwards of 2-300 a day so this came as a shock to me since im running bamf and have had no problems/issues ever with this..
now i was told that bamf has their own kernal so i never installed a new one on the phone..
and i did use a newer radio, but could the kernal or radio have anything to do with what happened today, is their a better kernal or radio that i could flash onto my phone and this problem will never happen again?

I did some work on my brother-in-law's Thunderbolt. When we used the 802 radio set (CDMA+LTE), he couldn't send sms/mms, we didn't test receiving, but once we backed down to the 627 radio set everything was fine.

Can you elaborate please? is that just different versions? or is one more more compatible then another?
So far it seems to be ok texting again, however (and i know this sounds stupid) but one of my friends i cant text.. literally i can recieve everything he says but if i try to send anything to his phone it wont recieve, he is a tmobile carrier and i have never had issues.. even put the phones side by side and he still gets nothing.
I've had a thunderbolt since they were released and dealt with all the bs from the get go. The problem that I still don't understand is why sometimes my phone will not receive texts from people! It's mainly my girlfriend that I know of but I'm not sure if its with other people as well.. my phone will be receiving text messages and then all of a sudden I'll stop receiving texts in return for awhile. I contacted Verizon about the issue but they said I may have a "glitch" in my service? They also told me its too difficult to troubleshoot?! Which did nothing to solve my problem go figure ha I'm sure I'm not the only one experiencing this issue. I've tried multiple sms apps along with stock and still no dice. Anyone else having issues or have any advice on how to solve this extremely annoying problem?

Are you rooted? Custom rom? 4g or 3g? The more info you give the easier it will be to help.

I'm rooted mostly 3g(no 4G towers around me yet) using the latest build eternity r134, I've used multiple roms and still continue to have the same issue.

I hate to say it but I think the RIL built by erishasnobattery still has glitches and all these Roms are built off his source like MIUI and all sense 3.5 roms with the messaging
Went back to a stock RIL and quit having the problems

I'm using bamf forever now and still having the issue but I'm gonna check out my girls phone cuz she hasn't even updated her iPhone 4 since she got it so I'm starting to think it might be her phone haha is there known issues with messaging between ios and aos?

Try enabling revision a, or disabling it in the rare case your settings came that way from the Verizon store, by dialing ##778# on your phone, hit call if you need to.
Choose edit mode
Password is 000000 (six zeros)
Choose modem settings, go down to revision A, and change from e HRDP to "enabled"
Press menu and commit modifications, phone will reboot.
After it settles you may need to go to *#*#4636#*#* and choose phone info then change your preferred network settings to get a solid signal.
You need to also try another radio version because on my thunderbolt the new radio didn't work that great so I use the one before the last one and it works good

I also use skyraiders zues 1.3 and it works great and I'm on imo's 5.1 kernel
Plus when I use to have messenging problems all the time when I restarted my phone it would start receiving again
I would send a text to myself to check it
I game on that setup with 4g and it works good but Verizon works different in different areas so you have to check it out by trying different radios and different kernels

I'm gonna try the modem process first and see where that gets me cuz I've used plenty of different kernels and roms and still no dice.. thank you kindly for the tips and tricks cuz there has got to be a way to Solve this extremely annoying issue.

you really need to check out different radio versions

and see which one works better
just make sure its named right and you need both cdma and lte put one at a time on root of sd card and flash through bootloader
If your not recieving texts i know a definate way to fix it while verizon works the kinks out but you can use google voice download it from the market and set you up a account and it doesnt use verizons native service it goes through internet to send messages
I use all the time and its free for me since i have unlimited data
but that will fix you up

also this was told tyo me by a verizon techy that if you go into applications and under the messaging app your using clear cache and data it might work and it did for me but it started back a few days later but it can never hurt
1st get another radio version i like 802 LTE and 817 cdma but they all work different for each phone
2nd clear data and cache from messaging app
3rd use post steps that i sent to you a few post back to get into the radio info for verizon technicians
if all that fails
4th this always works use google voice to send messages

and if you use a generic battery and the cover does not have good contacts
your signal will be weaker also
I had to get a verizon extended battery cause i bought one off internet and my signal dropped pretty bad and when i put OEM back on it it done way better
that was way back when there was so many gps problems tho but every little thing helps and the higher quality contacts inside your battery cover even helps
I've never tried to flash a radio through bootloader before, is it as easy as flashing a Rom in recovery? My buddy updated my radio for me so I didn't have to. That's alot of useful info for sure man thank you! Do you work for Verizon? Lol

AM S-off and unlocked running Nils k5.7 Rom. Have restored from a couple of Nandroid backups with the same results.
Any help is always appreciated.

Yes, I just noticed this yesterday. I have used emoji before in the .10 ruu
So i did some testing from vzw to vzw from a user that has an iphone and she can send them all without any thing failing, however someone who has sprint iphone sends things ans some do not work ( most ). Another person who has boost ( also sprint ) sends corrupted emojis as well, not all, but most are bad.
I think this could be a carrier thing to be honest since this is the first time i seen this yesterday. Now who is to blame is unknown.
I have been using the .10 leek since it has come out and its been working fine til now

Thanks for the comeback. Occasionally I get one and it seems that it works after real text. Switched to Newts Sense 4.0 Rom and have a little better success. Also using Handcent. The ROM BTW is terrific. Fast and no errors up till now.

I still think this is a carrier thing IMO just b/c it works vzw to vzw.
Maybe someone else can confirm this?
Anyone's Phone app completely fail on them , regardless of ROM?
Dialing a contact & getting no activity?
It'd be nice to get at least an error or network fail message but neither happens.
Receiving calls is oddly enough ok.

Sorta same issue. Anything to do with a contact is the fail at the moment. Composing text message; type in name with no results for 15-30 seconds. Dialing out; same deal. Receiving calls that I have saved in contacts, only 50/50 recognizing caller and matching to contact with name and or pic. Composing email, same deal. It's kind of annoying. Feel like I'm back to the Hero days where it took everything at least 15 seconds to recognize like things as this. Running meanRom 5.7 s-on. Issue for me has been getting worse and coincidentally it feels its getting worse with updates? Personally I'm thinking about downgrading a few to see if it clears. Only thing stopping me is finally reaching that point of being tired of it and doing it.

YES omg it's so damn annoying. As a result, you can't pull up people from your contacts, caller IDs don't show up, and I keep getting acore errors (actually this could be the source of the issue). ICS problem?
The only rom I have ever gotten this issue on was viper. Every app that was related to the phone eg. sms, dialer, 3rd party sms, or anything would be hella slow. Back running mean rom and everything is smooth as can be....
Currently running meanrom on my lte, i do not have this problem.
I been having this problem and its been pissing me off. It didnt start happening till a few months ago and I didnt notice it right away. Maybe it was with the Viper 2.02 update. It had me trying to switch to another ROM. Strongly been considering CMX. Maybe ill try Meanrom before i go pure AOSP
MeanRom has just solved this problem with the release of version 6.2. If you are experiencing contact or messaging lag try the newest version of MeanRom and you will be happy. I was experiencing this same log and it was getting ridiculous. Mikey has figured it out and implemented it in his latest rom so get it and love it. By the way, MeanRom has been moved to the Original Development forum now.

Are you wiping properly before flashing a fresh rom? Cache, dalvik cache, system, and factory reset all need to be wiped to make sure the new rom has a clean slate.

This goes without question, of course. Still the issue persists.
It was happening to me too and what I ended up doing was unsyncing all my Facebook sync stuff and after that I haven't had any problems with dialer or sms or emails, they pop up instantly. It's annoying that they can't fix integration like that but give it a shot and lemme know if ur evo gets better

Since Kitkat, which I got around the first day I get crashes on Sense or on Phone. It's inconsistent but does tend to happen when I text someone using a paid version of Go SMS Pro.
Anyone else experiencing any issues?
Is it stock? You may have to reset and start clean.
