UPDATE 08-20-11.Ok Guys, I have been getting quite a few PMs and replies to the post regarding the New (OTA) software update. Rather than replying to every post or PM Here is the Answer...
If you have updated your phone using the Offical OTA with the latest Hboot 1.50 Then you CANNOT Root your phone using the Revolutionary method. The Revolutionary Tool only supports 1.30 and 1.40 Hboot for NOW.
In short if you Update your phone in Excitment or without thinking you are SOL for NOW...
Update 08-17-11 As Pointed out by a few users there is an update to the revolutionary Tool it's now 0.4Pre4, I have updated the revolutionary Zip found in the link provided to include this new update...
First and foremost many thanks to Unrevoked,AlphaRev,TeamWin and all the other devs that have made this possible. Endless RESPECT & LOVE to the Devs...
Now on to the fun and EASY stuff. There are a lot of guide on how to final permanently root your Evo 3D. This to me is just another method and hopefully others who are having issues with doing the process will find this easy as 123... It may look like a lot of reading but it's very simple and detailed.
Hope This will help those who have been frustrated with other methods/guide
I have tired both ADB and this method to obtain S-Off and then custom recovery... I have also included all the files needed in 1 link to complete this steps.
***Link***http://www.mediafire.com/file/5w6hovty8y79wey/EVO 3D All Files Update 08-17-11.zip
AFTER DOWNLOADING ALL FILES PLEASE EXTRACT JUST THE REVOLUTIONARY FOLDER. PLACE THE OTHER THREE ZIP FILES AS IS ON THE ROOT OF YOUR SD CARD (PG86IMG_eng-hboot, su-2.3.6.3-efgh-fixed-unsigned AND TWR). tHE htc DRIVERS IS OPTONAL, IF YOU HAVE THE DRIVERS INSTALL THEN YOU CAN DELETE IT.
Prerequisite
STEP 1: S-Off & ClockWork Mod Recovery (CMR)
1. There are 4 zip files in the folder from the link provided, the ONLY 1 you should extract is the revolutionary folder. The other three files should remain as zip files and should be on the root of your SD card...
2. Make sure you have ADB enable on your device (Menu--Settings--Applications--Development-- USB Debugging).
3. Connect your phone to your PC, select charge only. If you do not have the HTC drivers installed then you show find the exe in the revolutionary folder. Run the .exe to install the HTC android phone usb device. To verify if the device has been install right click (My computer) or (computer) ---Manage-- Device Manager--Double click Disk drives. Your phone should be listed a usb device.
Once this is done4. Open up the revolutionary folder, you should copy/extract all the files by now. Run revolutionary.exe. You will now need to go to http://revolutionary.io/ to get your Beta key. Just click on download (u already have the file) so you don't have to save it. Enter your Hboot version and serial number, generate your key. Enter your key exactly as shown...
5.If you have successfully enter your key the S-off Process will begin. You will be prompted to download Clockwork Mod Recovery (CMR). hit Y and enter to install CMR... Your Phone should reboot and once you are on your home screen you should have S-Off... End of Step 1...
Ok now that you have obtain S-off it's Time for Team Win custom recovery Project (TWRP) + Eng H-boot. I would recommend you check to see if you have clockwork mod recovery before you continue. Power down your phone. REMOVE the battery, put it back in. Hold your hand on the volume down button while pressing the power button. release the power button after a few secs while still holding the volume down button. Your phone should boot to Hboot/bootloader menu. You should see S-off on the top. Now press volume down to select recovery and press the power button to boot into recovery. Your phone should boot into clockwork mod recovery. Make a nandroid backup of your system if you like. Now install "Super user fixed" seeing that you are already in recovery.
Go back to the clockwork mod recovery main menu if you did a back up, if not select install zip... look for su-2.3.6.3-efgh-fixed-unsigned and install/flash. reboot your phone. You can open your App draw to see if you have super user install Just for fun...
You are almost home...
STEP 2. Flash Eng Hboot, Team WIN recovery
1. Connect your phone to your computer and select disk drive, go to your SD card and look for PG86IMG_eng-hboot RENAME it to PG86IMG. If you do not have it on your SD card then copy/move it to the root of your SD card.
2. Remove your phone from the computer and power of your phone. Remove the battery and put it back in. Reboot into recovery (hold vol down + power button for a few secs). Your phone should boot to the bootloader and it should pick up the PG86IMG which is your eng-hboot.
3. Press the Vol up button for yes to flash the PG86IMG. Reboot your phone when done. You have now install your eng-hboot without ADB...
4. Connect your phone to your computer and select disk drive, go to your SD card and REMOVE or REMAIN the PG86IMG. I would recommend you just remove it. Make sure you have the zip folder TWR on your SD card. If not now is a good time to do so. Once this is done remove the phone from the computer and power down your phone. Remove the battery and then back in.
5. Boot into recovery once more (should be a semi pro by now ) Remember vol down and power for a few secs.
6. Go to recovery (vol down) then press power to select. Your phone should boot into clockwork mod recovery. Select install zip... look for TWR and flash/install it. Once down reboot your phone You have successfully install a custom recovery(Team WIN Recovery) AGAIN no ADB or fastboot... You can download quickboot from the market and boot into reocvery which should take u to Team WIN Recovery Project...
7. WE ARE ALL DONE, if you have follow these steps correctly....

Update 08-17-11 Alternate Method Greetings All,
Did not want to start a new Thread so am Adding an Alternate method for those of you who have been asking if you can Flash TWR and the Eng H-boot Via the Bootloader. The step above was a step by step guide for beginners. Here is the Alternate method for standard & advance users.
If you do not want to Flash the two Zips (Eng hboot, TWR) via recovery then do this:
Steps
1. Obtain S-Off via revolutionary (it is up to you if you want to flash CWR , works both ways...) Reboot... Once Done...
2. Connect your phone to your computer and select disk drive, go to your SD card and look for PG86IMG_eng-hboot RENAME it to PG86IMG
3.Boot into recovery, it should automatically pick up the PG86IMG and ask if you would like to update. Select Yes and once done reboot your phone.
4.Connect your phone to your computer and select disk drive, go to your SD card and REMOVE or REMAIN the PG86IMG. I would recommend you just remove it.
5. Now you will need to rename the TWR to PG86IMG, disconnect your phone from the PC once done.
6. Boot into recovery, it should automatically pick up the PG86IMG and ask if you would like to update. Select Yes and once done reboot your phone.
7. Important: You would need to go to recovery 1 final time to flash the Super User (su-2.3.6.3-efgh-fixed-unsigned).
ALL DONE ,yet another simple way to Root Your HTC EVO3D
JahNile
Evo 3D
Finally now With S-Off + Eng Hboot+ TWRP
Would it be possible to use your Eng Hboot without ClockWork Mod? I accidently hit no instead of yes, I can't figure out why ADB is not working.
You may be able to flash the eng hboot seeing that you now have S off. However you may not be able to flash superuser (SU) and TWR. This requires a custom recovery I believe. You can approach this a few ways. You can try to push the TWR via fastboot /adb then SU. You can also go back to S-On then start from the beginning again.
Both methods can be found in the forum. Good luck.

is this the same ENG Hboot version that was posted in another thread.
Yes all files are from the forum no changes. Just place them into 1 folder rather than post links to them... Try to make it as simple as possible 4 every 1.

Pretty good guide just a few comments that may prevent confusion.... A couple times you say reboot to recovery via power and volume but your are actually booting to bootloader then letting it find a .img or selecting recovery from the menu. I think that's what you were trying to say but like I said trying to prevent confusion. Also I'm almost 100% positive a back up made I'm CWM won't work with TWRP. Otherwise great job I'm sure there will be many people that will appreciate this guide and not having to use fastboot or adb.
Edit: changed a few things in my post... It's late and my brain is toast. Also you can hold off on installing CWM and just install TWRP from the bootloader after renaming it just like the hboot.

Correct you can install TWR that way as well and def.ly u can reboot to the bootloader instead. Just wanted to be a little detailed. Tx 4 the editing.
If you want to install TWR VIA the bootloader you would need to rename the TWR zip to PG86IMG...
Btw u can flash TWR via clockwork. You r only flashing a zip file so it does work.

This guide looks a little easier.

hey guys what are the advantages of the eng hboot for are phones other than the 1.30 and the 1.40?
Do you run into the problem with the error for not being able make calls receiev texts..etc?
Yes forgot to mention this. That happen to a few users who have rooted their evo 3D. Just call sprint and they will reset your profile no questions ask. Just tell them no voice services. Its actually a 5 mins or less call. Think its their new fraud protection system kicking in.
u should be up and running in no time easy. They gonna back you remove the battery then put it back In while they update your profile. Then they will have you place a test call and then the Rep will call u to confirm you can recv calls also.

If am not mistake for the most part The ENG hboot is what unlocks NAND protection. Without the NAND unlock, we wouldn't be able to flash ROMs or have custom recovery. Hope this helps.

The ENG HBOOT gives you access to more fastboot commands. For the average user you will not notice the difference. The only time you may need it is if you soft brick your phone... the extra fastboot commands can help you recover. Bottom line is better have it to be safe cause there are no negative side effects.
thanks
Nice guide appreciate the time you took to put this together..

Anyone try this and worked out?

Does the wireless tethering work?
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
Once your are rooted any wireless tethering app should work. The wifi tether from Google on the market works. There are also some custom stock rom that includes the wifi tether app along with a working version of the sprint hotspot app.
Great guide..just a couple updates: CWM wouldn't download - failed all 3 times. But the way around it was turning the Hboot-ENG into a PG86IMG and went through the bootloader..did the same for TWP. Once in TWP i did the zip for SU.
Other than then, worked out great.
Beta key = cut and past simplest lol.
I have the Sprint Evo 3D and have been wanting to root for some time now and almost got the chance a few months ago but there had been an update just a day or two before I got the nerve and Idid the update and then found out that because the HBoots needed to be updated Iwasn't able to root and now with the IceCream Sandwich coming up I wasn't sure what to do.
Have the HBoots been updated? Is there a root for the 3D that will work with the last update from HTC? (That was back in late August I think)
1st off, the latest hboot from HTC would be 1.50 You need to know the hboot version. You can use revolutionary if you have 1.30 or 1.40 but if it says hboot1.50 then the only way is ttp unlock it the HTC way. If you do have hboot1.50 go to htcevohacks.com and there are some very easy instructions on how to do everything. If you are on 1.3 or 1.4 go to revolutionary.io for their instructions. If you do have to do the HTC way, you can flash kernels and Roman but just not splash screens. I am on the HTC unlocked and I have custom everything. The only difference is you have to use fastboot to boot into recovery and flash there so kernels will stick.
Here you go. this isnt my work but i can conferm that it works

HTC Evo 3D – How to ROOT, yes, even with the most recent updates!
Posted on October 12, 2011 by JJsax
Hey everyone! I know it’s been a while since I’ve personally posted to my own site (VERY thankful, and grateful for my other writers to keep this thing going) but I’m back
First of all, I wish I could say that this post was written all by me as there’s a ton of information below, but I can’t take all the credit. Thank you to runner77 from the Vaelpak forums for this write up.
As usual we here at The Root are not to be held responsible for what you do to your phone or should something go horribly wrong and you turn your pretty 3D into a paperweight. Make sure you read and understand everything below before you start the process.
Unfortunately, many of us that purchased an Evo 3D phone recently (after Sep 2011) got the preloaded HTC Hboot 1.50 version. Sadly, if you have this version the preferred method of attaining full root with S-Off doesn’t work. According to the developers of the preferred rooting tool Revolutionary (http://revolutionary.io/), HTC patched the previous S-off exploit with this new Hboot version. Therefore, they are working hard on finding another way for full root with 1.50 but they have stated that it will probably be awhile before release.
You can however still unlock the bootloader using HTC’s method and flash any custom ROM/kernels just like those with S-off on their 3Ds. It just requires some additional steps.
I compiled a guide from various sources but changed it to include the new superuser version and the TWRP recovery rather than CWM. This also includes steps on getting my favorite ROM VaelPak up and running after you achieve S-on root. Hopefully this will save you all hours of searching and headaches.
Again, I didn’t create the rooting process or steps, I simply compiled various instructions and links into a one stop location here. I jump back and fourth between my below guide and zedomax’s guides so I hope its not confusing.
Here we go… the following is my experience and the steps I performed the first day I got the 3D:
ROOTING (Unlocking the 3D via HTC’s method)
1. Unbox and turn on the phone. Play around with it to make sure it is working well. Go into settings, power, and UN-CHECK fastboot.
2. Shut down the phone and then pulled the battery for good measure.
3. Hold the volume down and power button for 10 seconds. This should get you into a white menu that shows your the Hboot version. If you have anything pre-Hboot 1.50 than you are lucky and are able to perform a FULL S-off root with this tool: http://revolutionary.io/ Follow their steps exactly as they list them. If your Hboot version is 1.50, then continue on…
4. Vaelek sent me the following link that includes zedomax’s guide with video which I watched and followed word for word. Open this link then come back here to perform steps 5 through 9 before starting zedomax’s process. http://htcevohacks.c…-unlock-method/
5. First thing you want to do from this link is download the rootevo3dnew.zip located in step 1 of the instructions. Here is the direct link if you can’t find it: http://downloadandro…ootevo3dnew.zip
6. Next, create a folder on your desktop (I assume you are on windows) and call it the same as the zip file, rootevo3dnew
7. Extract the zip file to the new folder you created on the desktop. The video shows this but you can go ahead and do this now before you get started.
8. Before starting the video and steps, if you want TWRP instead of CWM then download the modified TWRP recovery img file located in this post: http://forum.xda-dev…3&postcount=223 . Put that downloaded .img file in the same folder on your desktop that you extracted the rootevo3dnew.zip in. The folder you created called rootevo3dnew.
9. Next, the superuser zip file that came with the rootevo3dnew.zip and is used in zedomax’s step 21 is an older version (2.3.6.3). Download the newer 3.0 version. You’ll use it later in steps 21 and 22 of zedomax’s guide. The zip file can be found here: http://downloads.and…efgh-signed.zip Again, once you download it, put the .zip file (do not extract it) into the rootevo3dnew folder.
10. Start the video and follow the steps that zedomax walks you through until you reach step 18 of his guide.
11. Modified step 18:
a. To use TWRP recovery rather than CWM, type this instead of what is shown on zedomax’s instructions: fastboot flash recovery twrp-1.0.3-modified.img
b. This is the file you downloaded above. Remember, this has to be in the rootevo3dnew folder to work.
12. Continue on to step 21 of zedomax’s guide.
13. Modified step 21 & 22:
a. To install the latest Superuser version, use the .zip file you downloaded earlier rather than the one that came in zedomax’s rootevo3dnew.zip.
b. The file you will move to your SD and flash in zedomax’s step 22 is called su-3.0-efgh-signed.zip
14. Finish up with step 23!
Once you reboot, download Titanium Backup and open it to confirm you have root access. You might also want to verify that the superuser app is now available in your app drawer. If it is, open it and then navigate to preferences and check for updates. Lastly, if this achieved root for you then please go back to zedomax’s guide and thank him!
FLASHING ROMS & KERNELS
If you want to flash VaelPak or other custom ROMs, you must boot into recovery through fastboot. Apparently fastbooting into recovery allows you write access to certain partitions contained in the phone. S-off roots (Hboot 1.40 or lower) don’t have to worry about this. Hopefully the unrevoked team can find a new exploit with Hboot 1.50 in the near future so we don’t have to be next to a computer to flash roms and kernels. I’ve read that some user can wipe and flash roms without going through fastboot. However, if you are near your computer and want to good flash, I highly recommend booting recovery through fastboot.
Basically you need to follow zedomax’s other guide located here every time you want to flash a rom or kernel: http://htcevohacks.c…-3d-htc-unlock/ . You’ll use the same files in the rootevo3dnew folder you created. However, if you want to use TWRP recovery rather than CWM’s, you need to change zedo’s fastboot command instructions to the following: fastboot boot twrp-1.0.3-modified.img (you can always rename this file to whatever you like. I shorten it to recoveryTWRP.img). Just make sure the TWRP .img file is still located in the rootevo3dnew folder.
If your running 2.17.651.5
Search on YouTube. "Root eco 3d 2.17.651.5 and will get this video made my htcevo3dhacks

I am a rooted htc rezound user and am in desperate need for help. My rezound is rooted and the bootloader is unlocked. I just recently tried the new ICS (sense 3.5) rom that was released yesterday. Before i used the rom i did a nandroid backup and then a factory reset. Once i was finished with the rom (because of the bugs it carried), i went to restore my phone using the nandroid backup. When the phone booted back up, after it hit the HTC splash screen, it freezes. The phone is still on, but stuck on a black screen.
I have tried everything. Restoring the nandroid backup multiple times. Flashing a stock rom of the htc rezound in the recovery and also (changing the name to PH98IMG) and the tried flashing it through bootloader/hboot. I also took the stock kernel and did the same exact thing. Ive also downloaded the automatic (.exe) RUU update of the stock rom, from Scott's Roms, but that just kept giving me an "Update Fail" message.
Please help me!

No offense, but this is what you get for flashing a leak without understanding the repercussions. Fortunately, you can be helped but in the future it may not be possible to restore to an earlier version if you flash a leak via a PH98IMG.zip.
Several things you and others must understand now that you have flashed your phone via the PH98IMG.zip leak. If you flashed scott's rom of the leak, you are fine and this DOESN'T apply to you.
1) Your mainver was updated. It is possible you WILL NOT be able to EVER use an RUU to restore in the future. The RUU checks for the mainver and if yours is newer, it will error. A new RUU of the official ICS update will probably work, but that could be a ways off and you could be screwed if you need to RUU in the mean time.
2) Since your mainver was updated, the current ways to install kernels that involve PH98IMG.zips won't work unless you modify them yourself. So you will have to install them via fastboot. Some of them are distributed as zImages so you can't flash those anymore without devs updating their tools. It is unlikely that they will, because in order for them to work with your phones, it will update everyone elses mainver when they run the kernel installation and doing that for everyone would be irresponsible.
DO NOT FLASH THIS IF YOU DIDN'T UPDATE TO THE LEAK VIA A PH98IMG.ZIP IF YOU FLASHED THE BOOT IMAGE WITH FASTBOOT OR CLEANFLASH YOU ARE FINE. IF YOU MODIFIED THE android-info.txt YOURSELF BEFORE FLASHING BECAUSE YOU ARE SMART, DON'T FLASH THIS EITHER.
Anyway, to use:
1) Wipe in recovery
2) Format /system in recovery
3) Run your nandroid restore or install a rom of your choice.
4) Flash the PH98IMG.zip from the bootloader.
Restart and you should be OK

As stupid as it was that I installed that PH98IMG.zip without looking further into it, or if I had just used fast boot, or cleanFLASH I wouldn't be in this mess. I mainly blame it on having the Eris, INC1, and INC2 all S-OFF, esp my latest phone before the Rezound inc2, was perma S-OFF thanks to the XTC clip so I could flash just about anything without repercussion. But you live and you learn. The Eris had crazy 2.1 leaks and people got stuck on some bad builds, and not only that they were unable to root when root finally came out, because they flashed the 2.1 leak.. I thought I learned my lesson then but with this I didn't know any better. Learn something new everyday. but I disagree with this part. "It is possible you WILL NOT be able to EVER use an RUU to restore in the future."
Jcase has assured me this is not true.

Sounds like you haven't gotten a hang of flashing a ROM with this device. Try the following.
1 - Download Cleanflash to computer
2 - Download ROM you want to install.
3 - Using a ZIP program, look in the ROM and copy the boot.img file and put in the Cleanflash folder.
4 - Open the back cover, pull battery, wait 10 seconds, put back battery and cover.
5 - Press and hold Vol-, then power for 2 seconds, release power, wait for hboot screen, then release vol-
6 - Connect phone to computer
7 - Make sure HTC Sync is not running on computer
8 - Run CleanFlash and use option 2 to flash boot.img to phone
9 - On the phone, use vol keys to go to recovery (I assume you have Amon Ra recovery already installed)
10 - Follow the menu to mount your sd card
11 - From the computer, your phone's sd card should now show up as a drive
12 - Copy ROM (entire zip file) to sd card, while your at it make sure there is no other ZIP file on the card. You should also mount the internal card and make sure there are no zip files there either.
13 - Unmount the card and disconnect from computer
14 - Now flash the new ROM
15 - reboot phone

Considering I can't post in the development forum yet, I'll try asking here first. I've been reading up for the past few days on flashing recovery and ROMs for my new Rezound, mostly on ADB today to get a feel for the very basics. Right now I'm trying to get Amon Ra onto my device, only to run into the command prompt telling me, "error: cannot load 'recovery-ra-vigor-3.12b-gnm'. The recovery.img is in the root directory where the fastboot and adb executables are located. What am I missing? It's likely a simple fix, but as of yet my searches aren't finding the results I'm after.
Also, when I tried using fastboot to reboot the device to the bootloader (fastboot reboot-bootloader) I got a < waiting for device > message. I ended up just doing a battery pull to get into the fastboot menu on the phone. And as I've seen it asked previously, I did install the drivers when I was going through the unlock process last night. Any suggestions?

Recovery img has to be in the same folder as the fast boot file. Second...you must make sure too add the file ext for that file. Should be .img for a recovery file.

I hadn't added in the file extension, that did the trick nicely. Thanks!

Can i use the PH8 zip to return my Rezound to stock? I am on Scotts leaked ICS rom. It works and all but i want to restore my phone to stock. Im on a Mac so i can't use a RUU. Is there a zip of the latest RUU i can flash in Hboot?
There is a stickied post with the stock vigor RUU's that the phone's came with . Shouldn't have an issue since you used Scott's version he altered the mainver to avoid issues with going back to stock.
Need to relock then run RUU though FYI.. just in case you weren't clear about that.
I rooted my rezound and wanted to update my rezound to ics os I followed the step exactly but when I rebooted I got stuck on the white screen. I took out the sd card and deleted the zip file and download the file again put the sd card back into the rezound but same thing. Now I can't get back to old 2.3.4 os i was using before because the post said do a wipe all data can someone help me with this to get my phone back to working order. I don't care if it is android 2.3.4 or ics 4.0 plase help.
I would first delete the PHzip file so you can start over.
Are you able to get into fastboot?
If so, check what mainver you are on with the following command:
fastboot getvar all
Also, check if you can get into recovery. Do you have Amon Ra on there? Did you make a nandroid before trying to flash ICS? If you made a nandroid and can get into recovery then restore that. If you didn't make one make a mental note to always make one before you flash ANYTHING on your phone.
If you can't restore, after you get your mainver, try to run RUU to get you back to stock. You need to relock the phone before running this.
Use the file from here that corresponds to your mainver:
http://www.filefactory.com/f/c2e320ee1d5c7886/
(Link from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1338916)
If your mainver is 3.xx then you are up to ICS and will need to find a thread about getting back from that mainver to stock. I know I've seen one or two.
I had that same screen after flashing my first ROM, and in my case it was that it couldn't install the lower mainver in the ROM kernel (most are 1.x) since I was already on 2.x from the OTA. You probably need a different kernel to flash that has your version. Look in Rezound Android Development for a thread titled [KERNEL] Assorted stock kernels, then get the one you need based on what you learn from the previous reply and flash in recovery.

This is the thread I believe:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22076459
If just the kernel doesn't work, another thing you can try besides RUU is flashing a Stock OTA ROM. You can use con247's Stock OTA ROM instead of running the RUU.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21880389
Here are the steps to take to accomplish that:
1) use Amon Ra to flash con's vigorStock OTA ROM. It will do its thing then reboot to hboot. I think it then asks you if you want to update. Don't do it yet.
2) At this point you want to relock. So go into fastboot on the phone. Using adb/fastboot type the following at the cmd prompt:
fastboot oem lock
3) Reboot phone and let it flash the PHzip file. It should reboot completely when it's finished.
4) delete the PHzip file using a file explorer app like ES File Explorer or Root Explorer.
5) get the phone back into fastboot. Unlock again using adb/fastboot. I don't remember the exact command but you can find that in the guide for unlocking.
6) reinstall su using Amon Ra.
Now you should be stock OTA rooted with the new goodies.
i can't even get into the command promt it scolls down really fast and closes. when i went to sdk manager all the 4.0.3 boxes were checked does that mean i hane ics 4.0.3?
Sorry yes i can get into fastboot iv'e tried everything i can search for. Am gonna try getting a different kernel for the 4.0.3 ics
Well i install a custom rom and kernel but before i installed i did a wipe and restore to factory and i wiped delvek and then sared the install of new kernel and custom rom. am i missing somgthing. If i were to try to back up android 2.3.4 from my girlfriend lg revolution would i be abould to exract only the android 2.3.4 and erase the lg and somehow get sense 3.5. I dont know am new to this. I rooted the phone fine with no prob and i thought that an update would be easy. I did have amon ra but now i cant locate it on my sd card. I even tried the PH98IMG.zip thing and that didnt work. I will try anything please help and dont give up on me. Oh and is there another way to get the command promt up.
Everything you need can be found in these Rezound forums.
So you can get into fastboot. That's good.
Do you still have your computer set up from when you unlocked the phone? If not, download the mini sdk that MrSmith317 made that I've attached and place that in the C: directory of your computer and name it something easy, mine is named android-flasher. Then just always keep it there as you will need to use it often when modding your phone.
1) get the sdk working on your computer
2) On your phone, do a battery pull, then boot it into fastboot and then connect it to your computer.
3) Type the following at your computer's cmd prompt:
fastboot getvar all
and find out what mainver you are on.
* If you are on a mainver that starts with 3.x then you cannot run the RUUs. I will try to find out what you should do in that case. If your mainver starts with 1.x or 2.x then continue onto step 4.
4) Relock your phone by typing the following:
fastboot oem lock
5) Download the RUU for your mainver to your computer. Use the file from here that corresponds to your mainver:
http://www.filefactory.com/f/c2e320ee1d5c7886/
This is an exe file so just run it on your pc with your phone attached. I know you need to be locked, I think you need HTC Sync installed, so if it's not working search for those answers, it will work, others have done it. Now you are back to stock.
5) Unlock your phone again using the same unlock bin file you got before by putting it in the same folder you are now using for sdk. Type the following command:
fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin
If you don't have it obtain a new one by following the same steps you did before to get it originally. Here is a guide for that:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20780879&postcount=1
Now you should be stock and unlocked.
6) Flash Amon Ra in fastboot. Get the lateset version, 3.13. here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?chpoxzb8bl4nn2b
Type the following command to flash it:
fastboot flash recovery recovery-ra-vigor-3.13-gnm.img
Now you should have Amon Ra on your phone.
7) Root your phone by installing su using Amon Ra. Go to the developer menu and find the option in there.
Now you should be stock, unlocked and rooted.
8) MAKE A NANDROID BACK UP NOW AND LABEL IT.
9) Flash a new ROM.
*** If your mainver is 3.x try this thread to see if you can come up with a method to go back to stock. I haven't looked into this since I have not ventured into ICS land as of yet.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459347
There are also some threads about getting back to stock from ICS I think so here are my search results for "stock ics" in the thread title and you can probably find an answer in there somewhere.
Hope this helps you get back up and running.
OK nevermind I got it. I just download mik roms and the kernel right under ineffabilis rom and the link for the kernal is right under it. I had to do the steps twice but it work finally like at 430 in the morning. I turned off the computer and went to bed. The first thing I did when I woke up was check my phone and it was still working. Phone calls, text wifi pretty much all features are working. So i decided to write an update to let anybody know that if you have trouble fixing white htc screen dont worry it can be fixed. Am verying new to this and if I can fix this anyone can. I will check back on this post to see if any needs help. Thank you for the people who tried to help me in my post. Now I can be one of the people who help others now that I know who to root and fix the white sceen.
If you haven't done so, make a nandroid right now so you can always go back to that if anything gets messed up.
The "people" who tried to help you was me, so maybe you can hit my "thanks" button.
Just a detailed messages of What I did.
1) I erased any PH98IMG.zip or any other roms I download so the sdcard should have no roms, kernels or anything you downloaded to fix the white htc screen. What I did was use my girlfriend LG Revolution to insert my sdcard to erase any roms or whatever I tried to use to fix before.
2) put the sdcard back into the same phone and hold down the - volume and the power key to get to HBOOT screen. On this part I always did the battery pull but I left the back cover off up to you if you want to put it back on I guess it doesnt really matter and connect your phone to your computer.
3) Push the volume button down til you get to recovery and push the power button once to select recovery.
4) push the -volume til you get to USB-MS TOGGLE and push the power button once. Now go to USB-MS Toggle SDCard now your SDCard is read by your computer.
5) Now go to this website and dont read everything just use download link about half way down the web page. Ineffabilis V1.0 make sure to skip the ad first then the real download should pop up. Now click SAVEAS and when the files come up to choose where to save left click once to highlight your SDCard or removeable stroage and click save. Now do the same thing for the download right under Ineffabilis V1.0 named stock rooted kernel (flash in bootloader)
http://themikmik.com/showthread.php...-0-12-31-11-Sense-3-5-Beats-Tweaks-1-02-605-6
thank you so much guys from themikmik.com you saved my phone
6) After dowload is complete press power to disable USB-MS. Now push power once to return to recovery menu and disconnect your phone from the computer. Go down to wipe push power once to select. push power once on Wipe ALL data/factory reset and push power again to start the wipe. After that is done scoll down to Wipe Dalvik-cache after that is done go back to the recovery menu.
7) Now go to flash zip menu and push power once. Go to choose zip from sdcard now install the kernel and then the rom you downloaded.
9) once it is complete go to re boot system now and push the power button. and your done it will stay on the white screen for about 20 min and start up.
more info my s-on.
Just thought I would share this good luck.

Also erase or rename the PH98IMG.zip file from the root directory of your SDCARD. It could save you some headaches in the future.
Per mjones73
Why are you flashing the RUU first? It's not needed. If you're already rooted and unlocked, steps 1-11 aren't needed either if you want to save some time.
If you aren't rooted and unlocked, just follow the rooting guide in the Dev section, there's no reason to RUU there either.

My response:
I was having several problems with flashing the program. It could simply of been a result of not having the latest Hboot with the ControlBear.exe zip. If that fails, then try the steps below. I also noticed if I didn't do the steps below, I would never get the wire trick on the hboot screen. It would only show on the black HTC screen.
I made some scripts that will save a lot of time when trying to go S-off. I also included a ZIP that has the correct hboot in it if anyone's interested in using it.
Prequisites:
1) Have Hboot of 2.21+
2) Download the Scripts I have in place or run them through fastboot yourself.
3) Disable HTC Sync.
Here's my method and it seemed to work well.
1) Download ControlBearRelease-vigor-ics-windows
2) Ensure ControlBearRelease-Vigor-ICS-Windows has the latest "jb_hboot.zip" in the zipped folder.
3) Relock your device. You can use the .bat file below, just make sure you edit it with notepad to ensure your paths are correct. Your's might be different than mine.
http://www.mediafire.com/?i493322n33bfqax
4) After you've relocked your device, Get the Stock RUU and rename it as PH98IMG.zip then place that on the root of your SD Card. I've included the Stock RUU Link here:
http://lts.cr/Be5_
5) After you've placed the PH98IMG.zip on the root of your SD card, place it in your Rezound, then battery, then press Power plus Volume down until Hboot comes on. When it asked you, if you want to run the update, select "yes."
6)After about 5 minutes, your update should be complete. Battery pull, then place your SD card into a SD reader then rename the PH98IMG.zip to RUU-PH09IMG.zip(so it won't run again on fastboot until we need it to.) Place it back into the Rezound and the battery.
7) Go back into the Hboot screen, by holding power on and volume down until it loads. Once it loads, run my 2-adb-Push_unlock.bat. This will unlock your device. Just make sure you change the path to where your token is and save the .bat file.
http://www.mediafire.com/?u6500a60panw1qw
8) After you've unlocked the device, battery pull and get back to the hboot screen. What you want to do now is install Recovery. You can do this by using my script or modifying it with your director path.
http://www.mediafire.com/?eegd20xc4b8d5hd
9) After you have installed Recovery, battery pull again and Hboot the screen. Select recovery. If recovery fails or it just boots to ROM, battery pull and try again. It takes a couple times for Recovery to start up but it should load.
10) Once you're in Recovery, install CleanROM Standard 4.3.zip. This worked for me which is why I'm recommending it.
11) After you've flashed CleanROM Standard 4.3, go into your settings>Develop option>Turn on Debugging mode.
12) Run ControlBear.exe. This part was messing me up for a while. I didn't realize the jb_hboot.zip wasn't updated. The zip I have posted DOES have the corrected file. After I had that corrected, everything seemed to flow.
Notes:
If you mess up on anything, you'll need to repeat all the steps over. Especially if you have a black screen with Small disk in the center, just battery pull, Relock, Install RUU, Unlock, Reinstall Recovery, Install CleanROM 4.3, Run the program until you get the timing right.
Why are you flashing the RUU first? It's not needed. If you're already rooted and unlocked, steps 1-11 aren't needed either if you want to save some time.
If you aren't rooted and unlocked, just follow the rooting guide in the Dev section, there's no reason to RUU there either.

I'm glad to get some clarification on that. I had trouble running the program last night and was advised by a couple of my peers to do this. It worked. I guess if anyone is having problems, they can resort to this thread.
