When I copy these files to the right place on my phone ..
>> sdcard\Android\data\com.google.android.apps.translate\files\ol\v3r1\... <<
.. I still can't use them in Google Translate application !!
Is there is any solution for this situation ?? I don't want to download these files again.
Thanks in advance.

The app probably needs more data than just the files, something that tells it to use the files. A setting perhaps? the files should be downloaded trough the app.

I think you will have to download it again trough the app, I can't think of any way around it. Unless You had a titanium backup

I am a language student. I have had to download the offline language pack a whole lot of times but unfortunately for me, I like to flash my phone a lot. I have tried putting the downloaded files directly in the folder but it never works. Are you sure this will do. I am yet to try it. When I get a strong WiFi connection I will do it and see. I just flashed a new ROM
Cool

Hi there.
Yes there is a solution and I know it.
I use it all the time when changing ROMS.
This works but you MUST NOT update for a new version from Google Store.
I explain.
1. On the version you are in of Translate make a backup of the folder you mentioned in your post. Keep that safe somewhere.
***Note: If you upgrade Translate version from Google Store you must delete the old folder and make a new backup.
2. You can make a Translate backup with Titanium Backup of that version as Google Store might change version and you won't notice.
***Please note that recovering the Titanium Backup file alone will not make it work.
3. When you flash a ROM do the following:
a. Recover your backup from Titanium Backup of Translate.
b. Move and replace the COMPLETE folder .com.google.android.apps.translate and obviously delete the other one. [When you replace it just replace the whole folder in Android > Data. What I mean is don't go into the .com.google.android.apps.translate and replace from within the folder as the folder changes structure when a language is downloaded]
c. Reboot into recovery.
d. Wipe ONLY cache and dalvik.
e. Reboot and enjoy Translate.
***This works if you stay on the same variant. For example, from Lollipop based ROM to Lollipop based ROM.
I have the suspicion that if you go from Lollipop to KK, or vice versa, it might not work because of the logs on the .bin file on the folder I mentioned.
I never tried it.
Also as I mentioned, you can then upgrade Translate but don't forget to make a new backup of the folder.
Enjoy!

Hi guys,
I have recently make a wrong decision with my Gs2. I tried to use Titanium backup to change All Sharing and Social Hub as a User Application. And that result in these apps disappear from my phone. I tired to put the dlna.apk and social-hub.apk back to the "system/app" while nth new come back after a reboot. I think that's because i miss the odex file related to the apps. As I am using Offical Hong Kong Rom KG2, would somebody like to help me by uploading those files [dlna, social hub apk&odex]
Thanks

I use Root Explorer for installing .apk files.
Can you not download Social Hub and DNLA via Samsung Apps?

I got those APKs from the list you have posted.
And install them by using root explorer
My way to install is to move from sdcard to "/system/app"
I even changed the permission of the apks but still they don come back
thanks!

Try applications>manage applications>clear cache and maybe clear data for those apps if they are there.
Otherwise I'm out of ideas...

Good luck. Don't suppose you've got a full backup via CWM or you'd have reflashed it, right?

I don't think you can install system files with root explorer, you need to flash it through recovery. I was having the same problem and flashing worked for me.

You just push them to the /system/app/ folder and reboot - that's all a recovery zip would do.
Thx Guys!!!!
My finally method was reflash the official rom..... that nearlly kill me as i have to reorder the application icon which take me an hour to finish that....
I don know how to use the recovery method but hope this post would help others who face the same problems.
Btw is there any apps to backup the order of icon in Application page? Rearranging them again is damn horrible if u got tons of apps......

Hello!
First of all, i have the Huawei IDEOS X5 running stock rom with android 2.2.1.
Let's go to the point.
Some days ago, something went wrong with my phone and it couldn't boot. (Details here)
As i was told, i took a backup with CWM (in order to recover later lost data) and i managed to restore an OLD backup and the phone seems to work like a charm. My major concern now is how to get some data that are stored in the data.img .
After some reading here at XDA, i successfully extracted the content of the data.img and located the files that i want to "restore".
And here is the question, is this possible?
If yes, what should i do?
FYI, at my PC i run windows 7.
Thank you in advance for your help!!!

Ok. All you need to do is choose the "Advanced Restore" option to independently choose the data.img to be restored.

i forgot to mention it, but this was the second thing that i tried. (the first was to clear the cache )
Neither of them worked, so, i assume that something is wrong with data.img .

as i said, i have succesfully extracted the content of data.img (detailed how to).
my problem is that i don't know how to send them back to my mobile!
finally i made it!
it wasn't that difficult, but i didn't know that with es file explorer you are able to see the root folder!
To sum up, if you want to restore some app data (app settings, sms archive etc) you first have to extract the data.img file (guide here), then you search in extracted folders the directory data/data/[your_app_name] for your app data.
Then you simply copy the whole folder to your sd and with es file explorer you move it to the correct place (/data/data/[your_app_name]). Overwrite if asked and restart the app if it's running.
easy huh?
thanks for all the replies folks!
Hey guys,
So I have this AOSP 4.2.1 JB ROM running on my phone now.
But the thing that i'm defenitely missings is the photosphere in the Camera app.
Can i donwload and flash it myself, and does anyone have a link for me?
And another thing i'm concerned about is my backups.
Are my TWRP and Titanium backups automatically placed in the right folder to maintain them or do i need to copy them to another place on my phone?

You definitely can get photosphere yourself. I am on HTC Sense 4.1.1 and I have photosphere along with my stock 4.2 camera. I have a zip file sitting on my computer with it and it is working great for me, but you might like to find your own by a simple Google search (also apparently the file size is too large for me to attach here regardless) for "4.2 camera apk" or something of the sort.
I'm not quite following your second question. If you make an additional, more recent backup, they are all stored in specific folders on your "SD card" (phone memory) under those apps that were created for that purpose. If you wipe your phone, however, I'm not sure they will stay, so you might try finding those backups and storing them elsewhere (I think the premium version of Titanium has some way to let you not have to do that, but I'm not sure. I also do not know about TWRP's backups. Sorry).

Well the question is about the profile thing. When you flash a 4.2 ROM you get profiles (a android jb 4.2 function) and your SDcard gets formatted to: sdcard/0/.... with all your files in there. So the question is like: how do i make sure my backups and files maintain when i flash (and wipe data) something on my phone?
I used this I believe: /s/zr7zvb16nc03b4f/4.2Camera_t04.zip (Add dropbox.com in front of it because I have not reached the qualified anti-spam threshold to post URLs).
For your latter question, I'm going to say try saving the backups to an external source.
I found a FAQ for Titanium Backup: "So you can use Titanium Backup to restore applications and system settings on top of a new ROM. Or, if you copied your Titanium Backup folder, you can restore to a new phone." I'm going to guess your case is along the same vein.

The SD card does not get 'formatted' to 0 folder. It just a folder that can be accecessed by JB 4.2.. The files etc that were previously in the SD Card remain intact, you just can't access it...
i.e. SDCARD\ becomes unaccessible and SDCARD\0 becomes to root folder...

First I would make a backup of the rom as close to the way you like it as possible with what ever recovery you are using. Then store it on an ext sdcard or PC. Then you can just do a recovery restore when you want to change back. Mine is on a 32GB ext sdcard, which it seems like a I do a system restore via recovery backup once a day because of all the new things I try to flash. OR use a root explorer type file manager copy and paste the original dialer .apk to an internal or external sdcard. Then you can delete the new one, copy and paste the original back. Be sure to check permissions, they need to be reset to original settings, then power down the device, and when it reboots it will run the original dialer.
thanks

You will have to refresh the stock software.

You need to either reflash the system, or find TWRP flashable zip of your current OS, extract it and copy the items you deleted. Or you can try editing build.prop and change "ro.setupwizard.mode" value to "DISABLED". It might work after reboot

maybe u deleted the setup files that we use after booting a new rom or killed the launcher.
Just copy the files u deleted by recovery or reflash ur built in rom.

do u have ur stock rom?
if yes..
Then..
1)extract your rom with any archiver software.
ex-winrar,zarchiver
for pc - winzip etc
(pro version recommended)
There's an app called setup wizard.
(it depends on your rom.
On samsung stock its samsung setup wizard, on cm its cyanogenmod setup wiz)
U will see something like that on your
rom/system/app or priv-app/here
copy that one to ur phone's root/system/app or priv-app
exactly where its located on ur stock rom.
(u need a root explorer software to put that in ur system)
Easiest way is find ur stock rom and flash it.
If u r new to this things, get help from somebody who knows.
