Guys
Is there a way to change the default dialer on a Sprint stock rooted Note #3 (NC5)?
When an app access the phone I always get the screen in which I select the dialer to be used and I always hit always yet next time is the same.
I have clear data from the stock dialer no luck.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Yes go to this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2283828 download the free TBOupdater.apk once it is in the phone you can open it there are all kinds of apps some are blacked out some are transparent. There is a blacked out dialer in there you can install on NC5.
If you can't find the app at the link above here is my link https://mega.co.nz/#!cdowBaYQ!QvnaltBS4OIgMHxWHem6T4RdNEb9JWdSP4aVodfn_5Q just copy this to sd card then click on it and install on your device then just scroll down till you find the dialer and install. The Blackout update app will automatically update it self when you open it.
thank you

First I would make a backup of the rom as close to the way you like it as possible with what ever recovery you are using. Then store it on an ext sdcard or PC. Then you can just do a recovery restore when you want to change back. Mine is on a 32GB ext sdcard, which it seems like a I do a system restore via recovery backup once a day because of all the new things I try to flash. OR use a root explorer type file manager copy and paste the original dialer .apk to an internal or external sdcard. Then you can delete the new one, copy and paste the original back. Be sure to check permissions, they need to be reset to original settings, then power down the device, and when it reboots it will run the original dialer.
thanks

Hi guys,
I have recently make a wrong decision with my Gs2. I tried to use Titanium backup to change All Sharing and Social Hub as a User Application. And that result in these apps disappear from my phone. I tired to put the dlna.apk and social-hub.apk back to the "system/app" while nth new come back after a reboot. I think that's because i miss the odex file related to the apps. As I am using Offical Hong Kong Rom KG2, would somebody like to help me by uploading those files [dlna, social hub apk&odex]
Thanks

I got those APKs from the list you have posted.
And install them by using root explorer
My way to install is to move from sdcard to "/system/app"
I even changed the permission of the apks but still they don come back
thanks!

I don't think you can install system files with root explorer, you need to flash it through recovery. I was having the same problem and flashing worked for me.

You just push them to the /system/app/ folder and reboot - that's all a recovery zip would do.
Thx Guys!!!!
My finally method was reflash the official rom..... that nearlly kill me as i have to reorder the application icon which take me an hour to finish that....
I don know how to use the recovery method but hope this post would help others who face the same problems.

So I am getting ready to install this ROM, or at least try to. Question I have is when it says to " 1) Download update-unnamed-v1.X.X-full.zip and place it on your SD card", what does that mean exactly? Do I need to download it onto my computer and move it to my phone? Or do I download it right onto the phone?
Also, do I need an external SD card installed into the phone or can I just save the zip onto the internal memory?
Sorry for the newbie questions but I am very new to this. You guys were very helpful when I rooted the phone so I figured you would be the ones to ask again this time. Thanks in advance for your help.
Doesn't matter how you download it and it can go on either SD card, internal or external.

when you wipe, you will lose everything on your phone. So make sure your contacts are backed up. If you have them in gmail, then you wont lose them because after flashing the new rom and once you setup your gmail account, your contacts will come back automatically.
Yup, best for every Android user to import all of their contacts into their Google/Gmail account. I manually entered mine into Gmail when I first got an Android phone. It sucked, but since then I haven't had to worry about it. As soon as I flash a ROM and sign in to my Google account my contacts just pop in like magic.

yep. I spent the hour or whatever to manually enter all my contacts. It can take a while depending on how many contacts you have, but it will save you a LOT of time and headaches later on.
Another question for you, what happens to my stock rom when I install UnNamed? Will it still be available to me should I need to switch back?
With my paid apps, will I be able to redownload them for free or am I going to have to pay again? I have titanium backup but since I am wiping the phone wont everything I backed up get wiped too?

Do you currently have CWM installed? If so, you can do a full nandroid backup from recovery of your stock rom if you choose to go back to stock. If not, Entropy has a great thread in the dev section about loading back to stock.
UnNamed will simply become the one and only rom on your phone (which isn't a bad thing) after you flash it, the stock will always get replaced.
As to your paid apps via the Market, they'll be there for you to download again for free. TB is another good option, just make sure that you ONLY choose 'Missing Apps with Data' for any restoring.

Whenever you choose 'Wipe data', all folders on /sdcard (clockworkmod, titaniumbackup, download, etc.) remain there and untouched. Formatting the /sdcard is another story.
Your answer was correct since the storage area where the contact info is stored will in fact get wiped but it kind of makes it sound as though you will lose everything, which is not the case.

If you don't backup the stock rom you will loose it.
To back up the stock rom which you are using now is easy.
Go into CWM Recovery and select "backup/restore"
then select "backup".
OR if you are not sure about CWM recovery you can always do it the easier way.
Download this app called "CWM Manager" which is available here: http://megaupload.com/?d=TGXMLL1G
This this app is better than a swiss army knife!
This app is so easy to use that even my brother "Mikey" can do it!
The reason it's so easy to use is because it's self-explanitory.
OK, I do have the cwm from when I rooted, so I should be good there.
Last question, and BTW you have all been super helpful with this. When you say SD card, you are talking about my phones internal memory right and not a little micro SD card that needs to be installed, correct?

When ever you see "sdcard" mentioned in any of these posts or replies
people are referring to the internal sdcard unless they specify "external sdcard"
I also found it strange and a little confusing at first but for a different reason,
the reason being is that we really don't have an externel sdcard at all except
for the one which is inside of our phone.
(they are both internal sdcards since both of them reside inside of our phones!)

Yeah. I always refer to the external sd as just that, external or ext.
Long press volume key to skip songs mod
Hi GTG, is there any way you can implement Aerobahn's mod to skip songs from any app like google music, pandora or any other music app to skip songs with the volume keys?
I found a treath for a SGS2 international version that allows this. Any other sugestions. It would be really convinient when playing music via a bluetooth headset. I promess I'll make a donation.
Is it hard to learn the coding the implement this mod to your ROM?
Here is the link for this mod. I also pasted a file that has the code for this mode that works on international SGS2.

Alright, I did all the steps and I am pretty sure it worked bc my AOS dropped considerably. However, when I do the pulldown menu there are still only the five options. And when I hold down the power key there are only the three original options that I had in the stock rom. Did I mess something up? The only thing that was a little different from the instructions was when I chose the zip to install it was called "updated" in my menu instead of "update-unnamed-v1.X.X-full.zip" like it says in the instructions.

Sounds like you flashed the wrong file. What does it show for Build Number under 'About Phone' in settings? It should show UnNamed v1.0.4.
Also, you need to swipe the Notification options to the left to see the additional 5 but if you did indeed flash the wrong file, you obviously won't see that.

Sounds like they selected 'apply /sdcard/update.zip' instead of navigating to the proper directory and selecting the actual downloaded file, or 'apply update from sdcard' in the root CWM menu option.

Just go download this "update-unnamed-v1.0.4-full.zip": http://www.multiupload.com/9UTPJDVDZQ
After its downloaded put it on your SDCARD (not inside any folders).
Go into CWM recovery and select "install zip from sdcard" then simply
select the "update-unnamed-v1.0.4-full.zip" in your sdcard and flash.
This way everything will be GOOOOD
unnamed rom is probably the most stable rom out thr.

Try Home+Vol Down+Power to enter into Recovery>Install GApps.
no need to flash the entire gapps on your case
download the latest google play apk in the themes and apps section of optimus one
search ES file manager/explorer (forgot exact name) apk on google from your pc (legit because the app itself is free)
now move the two apks to ur phone with usb
DONT INSTALL GOOGLE PLAY
install es file manager
open root mode something like that and grant the app root permission
now copy and paste ur google play apk to /system/app
AND LONG PRESS IT, CHANGE PERMISSIONS to rw-r--r-- (as same as all other system apps in the same folder)
save permissions
reboot ur phone at this point
bam!! google play is now back there in ur app drawer
becareful next time and do backups before touching red buttons in TB next time, mate

Do you use link2sd or app2sd?? There is no other reason your system apps will disappear because
of changing card. First you check the permissions again.
If they are all ok and still doesnt work.. then download any gb gapps.. unzip it in your pc.
You will find two files.. MarketUpdater.apk and Vending.apk.. place it in same folder system/
app. Same permissions for both.. not sure if this works on Stock gb.
And we dont know what all files you are missing.
ok.thanks a lot now its all back.

Hello,
I recently got bored with my old ROM on my GIII so I installed a couple new ones today. On the final one I tried I no longer have a single Titanium Backup file on my SD card. All restore items show 0. I know these all worked and existed because I restored them earlier on in the day and all was well. I then installed my current ROM and nada.
My question isn't about getting these files back as its apparent they are gone (super sad), I double checked the sd card in windows and the only thing is all my pictures/videos and a single file for TB for the license. My question is is, will this occur in the future again? Do people have flaky luck with Titanium Backup? Each of the rom installs were done the same way, boot into recovery, delete data/cache, install from SD etc. I did it the same way both times. I just dont want to get burned again because whats the point of even backing stuff up right?
Has anyone had luck with the Cloud feature on Titanium Backup, does this work??
Thanks.
Did you flash an aosp/cm Rom? If so they are probably hidden down in sd/0...... if you have Phil's recovery fire up the aroma file manager and move then to root of sd card (move the whole folder)

Edit that.....normal file manager will do, I thought you were stuck in recovery/no access to nandroid, just realised it's titanium backup your after....same might apply if you were on 4.2.x or cm/aosp

Hello, ..
I'm having a copy of the languages files downloaded from Google Translate on my PC, it's about 260 mb,
When I copy these files to the right place on my phone ..
>> sdcard\Android\data\com.google.android.apps.translate\files\ol\v3r1\... <<
.. I still can't use them in Google Translate application !!
Is there is any solution for this situation ?? I don't want to download these files again.
Thanks in advance.

The app probably needs more data than just the files, something that tells it to use the files. A setting perhaps? the files should be downloaded trough the app.

I think you will have to download it again trough the app, I can't think of any way around it. Unless You had a titanium backup

I am a language student. I have had to download the offline language pack a whole lot of times but unfortunately for me, I like to flash my phone a lot. I have tried putting the downloaded files directly in the folder but it never works. Are you sure this will do. I am yet to try it. When I get a strong WiFi connection I will do it and see. I just flashed a new ROM
Cool

Hi there.
Yes there is a solution and I know it.
I use it all the time when changing ROMS.
This works but you MUST NOT update for a new version from Google Store.
I explain.
1. On the version you are in of Translate make a backup of the folder you mentioned in your post. Keep that safe somewhere.
***Note: If you upgrade Translate version from Google Store you must delete the old folder and make a new backup.
2. You can make a Translate backup with Titanium Backup of that version as Google Store might change version and you won't notice.
***Please note that recovering the Titanium Backup file alone will not make it work.
3. When you flash a ROM do the following:
a. Recover your backup from Titanium Backup of Translate.
b. Move and replace the COMPLETE folder .com.google.android.apps.translate and obviously delete the other one. [When you replace it just replace the whole folder in Android > Data. What I mean is don't go into the .com.google.android.apps.translate and replace from within the folder as the folder changes structure when a language is downloaded]
c. Reboot into recovery.
d. Wipe ONLY cache and dalvik.
e. Reboot and enjoy Translate.
***This works if you stay on the same variant. For example, from Lollipop based ROM to Lollipop based ROM.
I have the suspicion that if you go from Lollipop to KK, or vice versa, it might not work because of the logs on the .bin file on the folder I mentioned.
I never tried it.
Also as I mentioned, you can then upgrade Translate but don't forget to make a new backup of the folder.
Enjoy!
