Accidentally I uninstalled Google Play using Titanium Backup. I believe I would have to use gapps to restore it since none of the apks i tried installing, worked.
But i am unable to hboot [using Power + Vol down] to select the .zip archive of gapps.
Can someone please give a guide on how to install gapps and restore Market on LG Optimus P500

Try Home+Vol Down+Power to enter into Recovery>Install GApps.
no need to flash the entire gapps on your case
download the latest google play apk in the themes and apps section of optimus one
search ES file manager/explorer (forgot exact name) apk on google from your pc (legit because the app itself is free)
now move the two apks to ur phone with usb
DONT INSTALL GOOGLE PLAY
install es file manager
open root mode something like that and grant the app root permission
now copy and paste ur google play apk to /system/app
AND LONG PRESS IT, CHANGE PERMISSIONS to rw-r--r-- (as same as all other system apps in the same folder)
save permissions
reboot ur phone at this point
bam!! google play is now back there in ur app drawer
becareful next time and do backups before touching red buttons in TB next time, mate

Thank you so much Miasmic.
1. for getting my query resolved with detailed explanation
2. For getting me introduced to ES file explorer. Ive been diving into its utilities since then.
Update: For anyone trying out this solution, you shall find the option to give root permission to ES under ES settings, also make /system as mount to write.

Considering that flashing gapps from recovery takes about half a minute, I do not understand what this thread is about. Flash the zip and move on, what is the problem here?

1.playstore apk 3.5.19 i've moved it in system/app with ES File Explorer Manager
2.permissions change to rw -r -r
3.reboot
result nothing
i have Android 2.3.3 stock.
yes, the Optimus is rooted.
i didnt install Recovery.
my problems have started when i've changed the microsd card with a bigger one. i've made a copy of previous card but some native Android apps like playstore, maps, navigation just simply disappear but somehow maps and navi are back now.
later edit
until your answer i will prepare a backup if i will need to restore (factory reset).

Why can't you just do this?
1. Download Gapps from goo.im/gapps/.
2. Put the .zip on your SD Card.
3. Boot into recovery and clear your cache and Dalvik cache.
4. Flash the Gapps .zip and reboot.
And you're done.

Do you use link2sd or app2sd?? There is no other reason your system apps will disappear because
of changing card. First you check the permissions again.
If they are all ok and still doesnt work.. then download any gb gapps.. unzip it in your pc.
You will find two files.. MarketUpdater.apk and Vending.apk.. place it in same folder system/
app. Same permissions for both.. not sure if this works on Stock gb.
And we dont know what all files you are missing.
ok.thanks a lot now its all back.
thanks guys

Hi guys,
I have recently make a wrong decision with my Gs2. I tried to use Titanium backup to change All Sharing and Social Hub as a User Application. And that result in these apps disappear from my phone. I tired to put the dlna.apk and social-hub.apk back to the "system/app" while nth new come back after a reboot. I think that's because i miss the odex file related to the apps. As I am using Offical Hong Kong Rom KG2, would somebody like to help me by uploading those files [dlna, social hub apk&odex]
Thanks

I got those APKs from the list you have posted.
And install them by using root explorer
My way to install is to move from sdcard to "/system/app"
I even changed the permission of the apks but still they don come back
thanks!

I don't think you can install system files with root explorer, you need to flash it through recovery. I was having the same problem and flashing worked for me.

You just push them to the /system/app/ folder and reboot - that's all a recovery zip would do.

My finally method was reflash the official rom..... that nearlly kill me as i have to reorder the application icon which take me an hour to finish that....
I don know how to use the recovery method but hope this post would help others who face the same problems.

For reasons I won't go into (mainly because they're boring) I deleted Google talk.apk from Root Explorer (I was following instructions to update the app but those didn't work) and now I can't get it back. I've factory reset the phone to no avail. I have Google Voice installed, but can't seem to get talk back. If anyone could help, it would be greatly, greatly appreciated. Thanks!
BTW, I did a search before posing the ?, but the only solution I found was for a different phone, and when I ran those steps, when I tried to open Talk, it would just FC.

Have you tried snagging the files from another Photon and installing? Can you post what steps you have already taken please?
Yes....factory reset won't restore system apps. You can flash Juggs update.zip and that will restore for you. Then would have to root again of course but is easy enough.
Just download a custom rom , unzip it and copy the required app to your device.

I will try that as well. When I did a search, I found where someone had posted the talk.apk.zip file which I copied to my sd card, unzipped and then copied to system/apps (through Root Explorer), but that is when I started getting FC's. I then installed it (from Root Explorer) even with the same result. It may be that it wasn't the right version maybe? So if I extract it from a Rom, do I just copy it to the System/Apps folder (using Root Explorer)? Sorry for the confusion, and thanks much for the help.

I don't (and didn't) have that file, only talk.apk (which of course was deleted). Isn't the odex like the cache? If so, would it have been removed when I ran App Cache Cleaner?

Hey faria, thanks! I did the top link last night (that was the one that I copied the talk.apk.zip (2.2) over to my SD card, extracted, and then copied to /system/apps/. I installed from there (btw, I did change to R/W first), but all I got was FC's on talk. I'm thinking I needed to reboot after installing, maybe? I'm not really sure why I would need to reboot though, but if that is all it takes, I'm happy. I will try that when I get home tonight (don't have a spare cable with me right now). Thank you sooo much for your help.

If you still end up having problems.....
Juggs update.zip is just the latest OTA with a few minor modifications. So basically it will restore all to pretty close out of the box and restore any system apps.
However, you can also flash the sbf which is the actual newest OTA exactly like the one pushed from Motorola/Sprint. This requires using rsd and isn't quite as easy as the update.zip which can just be flashed via bootstrap recovery.
Any one of these methods will require you to root the phone again.

Yeah, I'm gonna flash the sbf, I just downloaded it and installed the drivers and stuff, but I think I'm gonna wait until tomorrow night (only because it's been a really long day, started at 4 am MST just ending), so I think my brain is fried. Thanks for all your help today, I'll let ya know tomorrow how it goes. What a freakin pain in the arse this talk.apk has become....haha
Update: I flashed the sbf, re-rooted, and everything is great now, have Talk back. Thanks for all the help!
I installed the Hacker's Keyboard as shown in a post on this site and it worked fine, but I got greedy and tried to upgrade it in the same way that I did the initial install. The problem was that when I tried to download the apk file from Android Market, it did not simply download and was installed. Now I can't get any keyboard at all.
I am still trying to fix this but I suspect it will be necessary to reinstall Android on my tablet.
Don't get greedy like me

So, at this point you cannot get a keyboard to come up? Can you get into a file explorer? If so, check and see if the original apk is still in /system/app (I'm assuming that is where you moved it). If so, a reboot should fix it, but if not, try checking permissions and reinstalling it (tap on the apk in your file explorer).
If it is not there, is it somewhere (perhaps on your SD card) where you can access it to move it back to /system/app?

Veronica to the rescue again. My hero! You need a proper avatar pix, something with a cape. My husband thanks you for fixing my NT.
I've just installed CSROM Turbo, and I'm attempting to restore some of the stock apps the author has removed. The author has placed all removed apps into deodexed apk files in a zip folder. I've been attempting to take the apk files and simply click on them from my sd card to install, but it won't let me. I haven't been able to search for instructions on how to re-install these removed stock apps. Can someone help me, please?
Thanks!
Those are system apks that cannot be just installed. Simply copy them into /system/app. I hope you know that means using root-level file manager.

Womp womp: I tried this tonight... unfortunately, nothing happens. I used Root Explorer to copy the deodexed files to /system/app. I restarted the phone, wiped the cache, restarted the phone again... but the stock music player I hoped to use did not appear.
Also, when I put the calendar widget on the home screen, it, "refreshing" or "loading". But none of my calendar entries are shown. So, similar to the music apk, I copied the calendar apks to the /system/app directory, but then all calendar options disappear.
Any advice? Thanks!

Is there a way to change the default dialer on a Sprint stock rooted Note #3 (NC5)?
When an app access the phone I always get the screen in which I select the dialer to be used and I always hit always yet next time is the same.
I have clear data from the stock dialer no luck.
Any suggestions?

First I would make a backup of the rom as close to the way you like it as possible with what ever recovery you are using. Then store it on an ext sdcard or PC. Then you can just do a recovery restore when you want to change back. Mine is on a 32GB ext sdcard, which it seems like a I do a system restore via recovery backup once a day because of all the new things I try to flash. OR use a root explorer type file manager copy and paste the original dialer .apk to an internal or external sdcard. Then you can delete the new one, copy and paste the original back. Be sure to check permissions, they need to be reset to original settings, then power down the device, and when it reboots it will run the original dialer.
thanks
