I have htc dna from verizon completely stock. When I put the apn settings in for at&t this message pops up saying "your sim does not allow connection to this network". Is there a way I can make my verizon sim accept the at&t network.
No... If you want to use the AT&T network you need a at&t sim

Soff, unlock , root and then find a Rom for HTC DNA that allows att, I think there a option for what u need I'm the viper DNA Rom or the digital dream check around allot info and Roma to flash that will make this work !

Sorry didn't read this rite u would have to have a att SIM there not going to let you on there network with a verizion SIM. Its like putting a bus pass card into an atm and trying to get money out, just isn't going to work

Just swap SIMs.
Ive been wondering this. Lets say my phone gets stolen, can I still call verizon and have them lock the phone as stolen or can someone just stick their sim card in and works?

I don't think verizon has fully transitioned over to black list imei numbers to fully block them from being used on the network.

The procedure...
Data does work because I get an "H". But i choose to turn off data because i do not want to be billed.
I am on ics.
This is what I did (modified from the bionic forum)
- got an att sim card activated with a basic gsm phone
- turned off razr
- replaced the Verizon sim card with att Sim card
- turned on phone. You will get an "unknown sim card" error. Press ok
- go to system setting>more> mobile networks> select GSM/UMTS
- click back button, select access point names, select AT&T US (wap.cingular)
- press *#*#4636#*#*
- go to phone information, select WCDMA preferred, below it, turn off radio then turn it back on, exit by pressing home
- turn off data sync in the mobile data networks. Also turn off wifi.
- wait up to 30 minutes or more to let the phone connect to the network

I've heard of people getting AT&T text and calls to work on a XT912 but to date, I've not read of anyone getting data to work. Can you confirm that you have working data (without wifi obviously lol)?

I turned on data then I lost the signal. It would not come back even though the phone reads the access point name. I think either AT&T or Verizon saw that I'm using an unauthorized sim card and disabled the signal.

That's what I figured. Cellzealot is working on a hack but it doesn't look very promising - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1619563. They do have a hack for the Bionic to use 3G on AT&T. I set my little bros phone up a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, the hack seems to only work on GB and not ICS. Most Moto global phones can be unlocked for AT&T but since the Razr wasn't officially released as a global phone and they basically only announced global support because they couldn't patch it on ICS (my opinion, not confirmed), the Razr is different.

From the bionic forum is where I saw that moto phones will work if the GSM radio is installed and enabled. Being updated to ics, Verizon enabled Gsm radio to have used as a global phone.

I haven't followed it as closely as I once did, but the Droid 3 is completely hackable because AT&T has a similar device. So I purchased the unlock code, flashed the GSM radio and it was done. TBH created a hack for the Droid Pro that would unlock it (old file, not recently updated) similar to the unlock file that works for the Bionic. They also have a Razr unlock file that I believe changes some settings to GSM (I don't believe it's a true hack just setting changes) but it doesn't unlock data in the US. It only allows data overseas. One user in the thread I linked to reported picking up data in the US but only because he's close to Canada and AT&T was roaming to Canadian towers. That's further proof that Verizon and US GSM networks have enabled some sort of block that is yet to be cracked. Cellzealot is a pretty smart guy. If I had to guess (that is IF it can be hacked), he'll be the guy to do it.
A general consensus across the board is that ICS has changed the radio handling which has made sim unlocking much more difficult and patched previous hacks. Again, I'm just paraphrasing what I've read from Cellzealot. He's your guy for more information.

Are you on ICS? Wont work on GB. Some users report that it shows no service but they can still make calls and texts.

On ICS now but I've tried it on GB too. Never have gotten anything to work. Have done the NV edit and various patches, roms, settings.
I hope cellzealot has an epiphany.

Yes I'm using my at&t straight talk sim on the verizon s4 and it works great!
Is there anything special I have to do with my phone? When I order the sim card from straight talk it won't let me select the cdma option so, should I just select gsm as if I have a AT&T Galaxy S4?

CDMA does not use SIM cards. The S4 is a CDMA/GSM/LTE device. AT&T is a GSM network.
You might have to edit the APN settings to use Straight Talk.

The Verizon S4 is a CDMA phone AND a GSM phone. I believe they made it this way so you can go to about any other country in the world and still use your phone - or it was just cheaper to mass produce the radios with everything in it.
Anyway the only thing to change is the APN settings to
Name=Straight Talk
APN=att.mvno
Proxy=proxy.mvno.tracfone.com
Port=80
MMSC=http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS proxy=mms2.tracfone.com
works perfect. However I did just find a small problem. I have flashed both cyanogenmod and Liquidsmooth AOSP ROMS and they do not work with at&t ST sim - when I call the phone it does not answer or register the call at all. Not sure what the problem is, seems like for some reason it is not registering with the at&t network. Trying to find a fix. However, the phone has worked fine with all TW based ROMS I've tried.
Ok thanks for the information but I have one more question... I am rooted with Clean Rom 1.5, do I have to unroot my phone? Will I still be able use wife tether or foxfi? I heard AT&T took foxfi away.

Oops just saw that you messaged me - yes just choose GSM. You do not have to unroot your phone but like I said in the last post - I cannot get AOSP roms to receive or make calls - data works - but not phone calls - which is rather strange and I'm sure can be fixed but nothing I have tried seems to work.
GSM is fine but in reality once you get the right LTE bands turned on, would it be better in global?

I called T-Mobile and they gave me the code but I put it in wrong and after one failed attempt you can't put it again.
What's weird though is that I went to mexico and inserted a foreign sim card and to my surprise my phone got service.

Well the best way (easiest) to unlock is to just call T-mobile and say that you're going to some foreign place like Brazil or Ecuador or something. If one rep refuses to unlock you just call again and repeat until someone gives you an unlock code lol. Just tell them you're going out of state and need an unlock code, they will give it to you 9/10 times anyway, so you shouldn't have much trouble.
The OTHER way is to do this. Right now it's in a gray area because of the stupid law banning unlocking (except by carrier), but the Amaze was released before the law came into play so I guess it avoids the law. Good luck!

Well they email you the code and it says so right there Lol. I think I even put it in wrong twice -_-.. Its weird how it works with a mexico sim card yet I tried my friends AT&T SIM and it didn't work.

You can't edit APNs if you have a Verizon SIM installed. Once you install a non-Verizon SIM, you'll be able to add and edit APNs.
At least that's how my VZ GS4 works.

OK, here's what I just did - VZ SCH-i545.
Powered it down and swapped in my european SIM.
After the VZ logo startup stuff, I get the prompt for the PIN to unlock the SIM.
Then the OS unlock PIN,
Now I have a "Non-Verizon SIM" warning and a "Roaming Network Access" warning.
My phone now says "AT&T UK". My network mode is Global. In "Access Point Names", there's just "LTE - Verizon Internet" but that's greyed out. The "+" at the bottom of the screen is now active. I press that, enter the APN, and it's ready to go.
My mobile network works and is apparently giving me a UK IP address.
So, unless there's something in the phone that's rejecting AT&T SIMs, I'm at a loss.
