Hi I was trying to use my s4 on AT&T.some people at you can edit apn out of the box without hacking but I'm not able to do it. I'm rooted on me7. What are my options?I tried to search this issue but didn't get any results back

You can't edit APNs if you have a Verizon SIM installed. Once you install a non-Verizon SIM, you'll be able to add and edit APNs.
At least that's how my VZ GS4 works.

OK, here's what I just did - VZ SCH-i545.
Powered it down and swapped in my european SIM.
After the VZ logo startup stuff, I get the prompt for the PIN to unlock the SIM.
Then the OS unlock PIN,
Now I have a "Non-Verizon SIM" warning and a "Roaming Network Access" warning.
My phone now says "AT&T UK". My network mode is Global. In "Access Point Names", there's just "LTE - Verizon Internet" but that's greyed out. The "+" at the bottom of the screen is now active. I press that, enter the APN, and it's ready to go.
My mobile network works and is apparently giving me a UK IP address.
So, unless there's something in the phone that's rejecting AT&T SIMs, I'm at a loss.

I have htc dna from verizon completely stock. When I put the apn settings in for at&t this message pops up saying "your sim does not allow connection to this network". Is there a way I can make my verizon sim accept the at&t network.
No... If you want to use the AT&T network you need a at&t sim

Soff, unlock , root and then find a Rom for HTC DNA that allows att, I think there a option for what u need I'm the viper DNA Rom or the digital dream check around allot info and Roma to flash that will make this work !

Sorry didn't read this rite u would have to have a att SIM there not going to let you on there network with a verizion SIM. Its like putting a bus pass card into an atm and trying to get money out, just isn't going to work

I"m currently in Korea. And since it's global version which is unlocked, i put in the Korean sim card. But it's not working.
It does not catch the signal. I know if i want to use the data, i have to put the APN. But it doesn't even let me use the calls or message.
Head into Settings > More settings > Mobile Networks and make sure that Network Mode is set to Global or GSM/UMTS. If its on LTE/CDMA it won't pick up any signal.

Also did you add the APNs needed for Korea? My understanding was to even get calls you had to add the APNs.

I was running in custom Roms, but I updated my phone and by odin, i put it back in to stock rom.
So you guys are saying that i have to root it again and put the APNs first?
Is there a way I can get my Verizon S4 to work with a Straight Talk AT&T SIM card?! Please say yes, so I can get rid of this expensive A$$ bill?!

Yes I'm using my at&t straight talk sim on the verizon s4 and it works great!

CDMA does not use SIM cards. The S4 is a CDMA/GSM/LTE device. AT&T is a GSM network.
You might have to edit the APN settings to use Straight Talk.

The Verizon S4 is a CDMA phone AND a GSM phone. I believe they made it this way so you can go to about any other country in the world and still use your phone - or it was just cheaper to mass produce the radios with everything in it.
Anyway the only thing to change is the APN settings to
Name=Straight Talk
APN=att.mvno
Proxy=proxy.mvno.tracfone.com
Port=80
MMSC=http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS proxy=mms2.tracfone.com
works perfect. However I did just find a small problem. I have flashed both cyanogenmod and Liquidsmooth AOSP ROMS and they do not work with at&t ST sim - when I call the phone it does not answer or register the call at all. Not sure what the problem is, seems like for some reason it is not registering with the at&t network. Trying to find a fix. However, the phone has worked fine with all TW based ROMS I've tried.
Ok thanks for the information but I have one more question... I am rooted with Clean Rom 1.5, do I have to unroot my phone? Will I still be able use wife tether or foxfi? I heard AT&T took foxfi away.

Oops just saw that you messaged me - yes just choose GSM. You do not have to unroot your phone but like I said in the last post - I cannot get AOSP roms to receive or make calls - data works - but not phone calls - which is rather strange and I'm sure can be fixed but nothing I have tried seems to work.
GSM is fine but in reality once you get the right LTE bands turned on, would it be better in global?

Yes, you might have to add the AT&T APN though.
Will i have to flash any different kernels or factory restore my phone or ODIN back to stock? Or can I just insert the micro sim and it will be on At&t? Also, what is the APN i have to enter?

Im pretty sure you can just pop the sim card in and go, a search for galaxy s4 apn settings ATT in google should get you the answer on the other. A buddy of mine just switched to ATT and popped the sim in, and did not have to do anything, but YMMV.
You will get hspa+ and the apn I used on the dna to test it was apn name hspa or att and apn: phone. That was it. Make sure the network mode is on gsm

I am using mine on At&t ... ive had a few issues. 1st, the apn works fine for data but I never got mms working. I did get mms working using go sms pro and having it use its own MMSC settings (same as what I set in the apn settings). 2nd, im on ME7 firmware and I can get a # sign at command prompt but have failed to be able to get supersu and permaroot. This means I havent been able to get to tje secret menu to turn on lte bands 4 and 17. But theoretically should be able to support LTE.
Anyone else have similar issues?

Another issue I have is the incoming caller id doesnt include the 1 but it does include the + ... which is an invalid dialing combination when calling back a number. Anyone know a setting change for that

My Amaze is unbranded and rooted, I'm currently using T-MOBILE ICS stock RUU on it.
Whenever I try to connect to the internet it says 'Connection Failed' even though I have turned on the Mobile network. Anybody know a solution to this issue?

You need to edit your apns. Go to voice dialer, say open apns, then enter the correct one for your carrier. I would look up your carrier name and it's apn settings on Google. Once you enter and set them, you should be good.
