[Q] Protect Wallpaper settings - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all. I'm looking for a way to lock or password protect the wallpaper settings. There are apps out there that lock apps, and lock the "settings" app, but long pressing the homescreen allows you to alter wallpapers directly and circumvents any such protection.
I know you can password protect the whole phone, but that's besides the point. I'm looking for a way to protect wallpaper settings specifically. Anyone have any ideas?

Bump because I'm looking for the same thing and have found nothing

I figured I'd let you know what I've done : I'm doing some work for a company that wants their tablets locked down totally. Limited Web Access, no settings access, no changing the desktop. Nova is the only launcher I've found which allows the desktop to be locked without a prompt. And, in conjunction with an app locker, effectively stops people from changing the wallpaper or altering the desktop in any way.

Solution
Change the permissions on /data/system/users/0/wallpaper to 500 (r,x)

[Q] Lockscreen app

I have looked through almost all of the apps on the market, but I have yet to find one (compatible with SGT10.1) that would lock a certain screen.
I am looking for an app that locks my applications, but that would also require a password to get to a certain screen. Say screen #5 is where I would want to put all of my locked apps and widgets and it would require a pw to get to view just that screen.
Does anyone know of an app currently like this on the market?

Can I disable the unlock screen / wallpaper?

I really find it annoying, when my other hand is busy and I need to unlock the phone I hate dragging the wallpaper to get access to the buttons. Any way to disable the wallpaper? I usually unlock my phone by clicking on the right side button, I don't need extra protection.
I know there is an app called "nolock" however it must be open for the wallpaper to be disabled.. which sucks.
Thanks
try going to settings - location and security and use change lock screen to disable.

[Q] No lockscreen With VPN in ICS?

Since the ICS update i am forced to have a lockscreen with pin or password when i want to configure a VPN connection. This is absurd and i want to have the option to have no lockscreen. In honeycomb this was not forced. Email is much more sensitive information but that requires no lock screen, so why does a VPN require one? How can i remove the lockscreen? No Lock does not work great, a click on an email notification still shows a lockscreen.
Any other apps that work great on the TF201 and ICS?
Same situation for me.
Yep, it's the same if you want to use Enterprise mode wifis with installed certificates.
Just use a lock gesture
Gesture is not an option. I use it with the dock all the time and if i use a gesture the keyboard wakeup is pretty much useless. I'd rather root and remove the lock completely then be forced to have a lock. On my phone it is not much of a problem because it will be used with a lock screen all the time. A simple gesture is not much different then standaard unlock. On the prime it is very anooying to have a laptop/netbook replacement that needs a gesture on the screen after a few minutes of idle.
Is there a guide on doing this once it is rooted? I hate being forced to have a lock screen because I want to VPN to my house and watch some tv shows...
Some peoples VPN's are important, high security things. Mine is not.
Would love to know if there's ever a solution for this, though my exchange provider just updated security requirements (it's scary that you have to give permission for full remote wipe), so it's probably moot anyway.
It seems there's gotta be a way around this with root though...?

Hy,
I wrote an application that can connect to a PPTP VPN Server
without having to use PIN or Pattern :
PPTP VPN Manager
VPN Widget does the job for me
Awesome didcv!
You know the setting under Developer options "Stay Awake"?
If you check that, of course you'll use more battery, but the screen never actually turns off while docked (unless you close it or hit the lock key/power button), it just cuts the backlight off and ridiculously dims the screen.
Hope this can help you:

This does it brilliantly:

Alternatively you can use SQLlite Editor as I did

Question about the Touchwiz lock screen shortcuts..

On Widgetlocker, (or in any other launchers) I can make a shortcut button to make a post on Friendcaster. This lets me jump right into making a Facebook status without having to go into a program, and then hitting the update button. I had these shortcut links both on my home screen and on my lockscreen (so I wouldn't even have to unlock the phone... just just get an immediate pop up to type an update)
I like the ripple effect of the touchwiz lock screen, and I have some shortcuts set up there... but it seems that you can only give links to full apps, and not the 'shortcuts' that the launchers or other lockscreens allow. There is normally one called 'Post' ...but on the touchwiz one if just gives full app names. Anyone know a way around this? Thanks.
The lock screen is only coded to allow applications, rather than specific functions of applications.
So no.

Which Apps Should I Lock?

I don't have a screen lock as I hate typing a PIN, etc everytime just to get to my Home Screen. Plus that way (using Widget Locker) I can actually use the home button to get to the home screen from the lockscreen AND double tap the home button from the lockscreen to get S-voice.
So I installed Smart Lock to lock my e-mail apps and Facebook app. If the phone fell into others hands, those are the apps I'd want locked so that I'd have some time to go change my passwords. I suppose I also should lock the Google Play app since it has my payment info saved so someone could go on an App buying spree.
Any other suggestions of apps I should like? I don't store any sensitive data on the phone and could are less if someone started using my phone to text (hopefully I'd have my account shutdown before they could reak havoc with texting?) All other apps require their own password such as online banking, Google Drive, etc. Anything else?
I know any "smart" hacker can easily get around it. This is just to protect against your average non-techy snoop going through my personal stuff should I leave the phone somewhere.
U can set pin lock for purchases from play store. Check in settings
Sent from my head that has a brain!

Lock the settings app. Other wise some can just uninstall the locker app and use your phone uninhibited.
