Hi.
In the good old days without rooting, kernels, new rom and so on, I could plug in my xperia mini st15i to my tv in msc mode, and browse through my sd card on the tv through the standard usb cable. Watch my pictures and play music on the tv screen with tv remote.
I haven't been able to do that since I start flashing and tweaking my phone
Anybody got a suggestion how to do that again in few steps?
Cable?
Software?
App?

TV out on cm7

Hey guys I recently got a 32 inch flat screen which has an HDMI so I wanted to see photos and videos on my phone on there but I don't believe much has happened with TV out has it

If you have a ps3 hooked up to said tv and its (the ps3) on your home network you can download imediashare from the market and it will allow you to use your ps3's media server to display any photos and some movies that are on your phone wirelessly through your network. I believe an app named allshare will also work, this may also work if you have an xbox instead...I'm not positive b/c I dont own one but I believe they have media servers on them also, or if your tv has internet access and us hooked up to your local network, in that case it will work as well. But for me when I want to see pics on the big screen...i turn on tv, turn on ps3 click a few buttons and viola! Pics on the tv! I know its not the same as the tv out mod but either way if you have all those components whats the worst that happens...you download an app...dont like it and delete...no harm, no foul! Hope this helps!

Not a ps3 my TV has a USB spot and when I try to display what's on my phone it wont show
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA Premium App
I believe what you are looking for requires taking a couple different cables and modifying them to work...a far as I know the original usb cable that come with your phone does not have the pin out required to transmit video directly via usb. I remember reading something about the tv out mod a while back but I dont remember if they had any luck with it working...search the forum...i believe it was titled "tv out mod" our something like that but its not going to be as simple as plugging in your usb cable into the tv and having it pop up on the screen...i wish I had more info for ya but hopefully someone will chime in with some relevant info for ya.

It sounds like you're trying to get your TV to read your phone as a mass storage device. Kinda like a flash drive, but I don't know if your TV could detect the phone like that. Try plugging in the USB cable between the phone and TV, then turning on the 'mass storage' mode on your phone.

I did attempt that and it wont read it

[Q] HDMI for Tablet S1

Is there a HDMI output on the Sony S1?
Getting one soon. And i want to connect it to my Bravia Tv.
Sent from my R800i using xda premium
That would be a simple 'no' my friend. Unfortunately, there is no hdmi. The only ports on this tablet are a full sd card slot, and a mini usb. Hopefully, Sony plans on releasing a dock or something? But for now. No hdmi.

You can link it using DLNA or Remote Control
Both easy to set up
DLNA works for listening or watching movies on your TV, kind of similar to HDMI but wirelessly
Sent from my LT15i using xda premium
use DLNA
i'm pritty sure that Bravia TVs support it
Yes dlna is great, but cannot compare AT ALL to a direct video hook up. Plus, you would need a dlna server ( computer) to stream your content. An hdmi would only require the tablet to view anything that's stored on it. Dlna doesn't stream content from the files located on the tab itself. Its completely different than what the op is curious about.

I suppose the microUSB port could also be an MHL>HDMI port. Can't find it mentioned in the specs anywhere though. My HTC Flyer's port is MHL, and essentially doubles as HDMI-out if you need it.
I've got an LG Smart TV above my home PC, and DLNA allows any of my tablets using the right app to send video/movies directly to it over WiFi. Not the same as mirroring the whole UI on the TV which you do usually get if a tablet has any form of HDMI-output.

Ok. You're right about that. However, not all dlna-certified devices support the same file formats. Like my bravia will play any picture or sound, but it will not play any videos from android. A samsung will because it has integrated support. So, an hdmi cable will 'obviously' play anything connected to it because it's a direct stream. Also, dlna is best used with a dmc server. Than it would allow any/most formats.

yea, without HDMI out my tablet s seems to tie down... i have no wifi on my samsung TV n DLNA doesnt work with my ps3. even the DLNA works with a DLNA cert. TV but i dont think they will support playing .mkv and .rmvb files...
Tablet S seriously need a HDMI port...
looking at my dad's toshiba thrive, he can watch all video format and even browse the web on my samsung TV with a single HDMI cable... how sad...

[Q] cannot find dlna device

Hi
I have the sony s tablet, I want to push movies to my Sony Bluray player but my tablet can't find it. My PC finds the bluray ok.
Same here can't find Google TV or blue ray DVD
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
You have to be connected to the same network. Have you checked that?
If you are connected, then try to go music player, long press any song and options will appear, choose "throw", it'll search for device and should find your blu-ray player or TV

Still no luck same network tried it in music player any other ideas

Does your google Tv support DLNA?
And which brand is your Blu-Ray or model?
I know silly question but it usually detects the devices immediately
Sent from my LT15i using xda premium
I have the same problem:
the tablet keeps telling that no player has been found when trying to throw songs or pictures to my bravia kdl-40cx520 (ethernet connected). Does the tv need the wifi dongle to be scanned by the tablet? or dlna is independent and a complete different thing?
Thanks for your help

Not sure what you are asking for but if you want the mobile versions of websites rather than the full site, us another browser like dolphin. Then you can switch between mobil/web.

By "mobile" I assume you mean your mobile telephone. Connect your telephone to your tablet using a combination of an OTG USB Type-A socket to Micro-A plug cable (like Sony's SGP-UC1) and a standard USB Type-A plug to whatever-your-telephone-requires plug cable, possibly the one supplied with your telephone for connecting it to a computer. The tablet will see your telephone as an external storage device, like a flash drive, and you can use a file manager app to transfer files between your telephone and tablet. You can also do this with cameras, portable MP3 players, etc.

I'm too. Check your telephone's USB connection setting. It may be set to something like "Application Access". It needs to be set to something like "Memory Card Access". Also, make sure you are not using two OTG cables back-to-back. Worse case is your telephone requires drivers that are not installed on your tablet. In that case, search your telephone manufacturer's web site or contact their support service to see if they have an Android version of their drivers. Otherwise, I cannot think of anything else to tell you. Good luck.

I just for the first time set up a Bluetooth connection between my tablet and telephone and did a file transfer using ES File Explorer without problems. Perhaps you can use Bluetooth instead of a USB connection?

You can try "wifi file explorer" on your mobile from the market, (ur mobile must be running android for this solution)
Both devices shoud be connected to the same wireless network (wifi)
The app gives you an ip address of your mobile with opening a port for file editing. You can access your mobile from any web browser on your tab (or any device connected to the same wifi) by typing the address given by the app, u can set a password if u r using public wifi, try it and report please
It's working with me
