When will warranty phones be available? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

I have a phone i need a warranty swap on, but they say the phone is to new, and their is not stock of warranty phones yet...
Typically how long does it take for them to get stock?

Who is telling you this? I have never heard of that before. They should just give you a new one if that's the case.

This is going to be a warranty exception swap from a different phone to the Gs4... so they wont give u a brand new one, only a Certified like new.

TOUCH PANEL-fail

I receive this error when I boot into fastboot or HBoot modes. When I power on normally, it boots up fine (takes longer than usual), the slider lock screen comes on BUT the touchscreen doesn't work.
Also, this phone is flashed to Cricket (I'm not a Verizon customer) so while the phone is technically under warranty, I'm not sure Verizon will honor the warranty.
Any thoughts?
Downgrade to 1.5 if possible.
PCDPhones can probably fix it, the warranty is technically through them.
I'd go to their website and call them up. They'll have you mail your phone to them. OR find a Verizon friend that you can re-flash the phone back to Verizon, and take it into a Verizon store. They will either give that person an exchange or mail them a new phone.
If you send your phone to PCDPhones, it can be 2 weeks, but they DO honor the warranty. Possibly if you take it to Verizon as well, I'm NOT sure. I know HTC still honors this warranty, and it's done through PCDPhones. Sounds like your touch screen went bad.
You could try to downgrade if you're worried that you won't be under warranty, with http://www.androidforums.com/htc-droid-eris/ in the All Things Root area in AcidBaths' thread on his first post there, hboot and all, so that you're "covered by warranty" - to be honest I bet if it's a physical problem - which it sounds like it is - they won't care about the software anyway
ok so I got the $5.18/ month insurance from Verizon, they tried to offer a $6.99/month plan that adds a 6 month warranty to the exchange and then took it back saying you cant with the thunderbolt.
So my question is should I just tell them I lost the phone and get to keep the battery, sd card, and possibly fix the touch screen later to put it on Metro PCS? Verizon says they cover lost phones, does anyone know if I will have more trouble if my phone is lost versus broken?
Also if its broken is there anyway of getting out of the $100 deductible?
Anyone know if I have to wait a day after adding insurance or any trouble I will run into with this?

[Q] HD2 Not Working

Hi. This is one of very few message I've posted. But have found some great information through the site and its members.
I had the UK spec HD2 and enjoyed using it, few months into owning it I installed some custom firmware and trying a few different Roms.
Last month the phone literally died, I couldnt turn it on, charge it or do anything. Even though it worked perfectly for months.
I sent it to HTC, and they said they will charge me £180 to repair as the "illegal" firmware was on the phone. The warranty states that only is the modification is the reason for the fault can the warranty be void. They would not clarify that the firmware was the cause of the phone being broken and instead insisted that simply because the firmware was on it the phone was out of warranty.
i had three long phone calls with the customer support guy telling me that any modification would void the warranty, to the point where he told me if you use a set of headphones that did not come with the phone this is technically voiding the warranty. Even though I clearly read out their own warranty wording which stated that the modifcation should be the cause etc....
In the end they changed there tone and sent me a simple email to say your warranty is void because we believe the firmware broke the phone. Even though the phone was running fine for months. If there anything I can do or has anyone else had any experience ?

[Q] HTC vs AT&T Warrenty

So I was recently thinking about how much I wanted to root my phone, but was afraid of losing my warranty. Which got me thinking about the fact that HTC seems to offer a warranty for the One. Would this mean I would be able to ship my phone for a replacement to HTC if something went wrong and they wouldn't care if I unlocked the bootloader? Anybody have any experience in this department?

Most people who send their phones in to HTC for warranty replacement of hardware don't have any issues. They usually fix the hardware and send it back with no questions asked. If it is software related you may run into issues. Now there is a chance they will not replace your hardware and void your warranty for unlocked bootloader but from what I have read from users that have done this with previous devices they normally replace and ship.

ROOTING DOES NOT VOID WARRANTY
If you BRICK your device due to something you installed, HTC will probably not cover it, if your screen goes bad, or wifi quits working, or anything else NOT caused by dropping it or getting it wet, AT&T or HTC will cover you.
AT&T's warranty department is the reason I buy phones from them rather than a manufacturer directly.
Something goes wrong, I call At&T, they ship me a new device and a mailing label to send them back my broken one. Takes a couple of days. HTC fixes your device and it can take a couple of weeks.
again ROOTING a phone is NOT a valid reason to deny a warranty claim.

Rooting was never mentioned here. Unlocking your bootloader is different, and yes, it could allow them to deny you the warranty claim.
In the end, just because they can doesn't imply that they will deny you.
Almost all instances I've heard of including warranty replacement ended happily for the user. I would argue that even though HTC's replacement process takes a longer time, they're more likely to replace the phone without question.
AT&T = Faster replacements
HTC = Higher success rate if you have really hacked up the device

The OP mentioned rooting in his first sentence.
I wanted it out there that rooting in itself doesn't void a warranty.
Because we can root by unlocking our bootloaders doesn't mean that an exploit won't be found that roots without doing so.
We've said the same thing now we're just arguing semantics.

Doh, so true. Completely missed that in the first sentence too, thanks for pointing it out. :highfive:
Thanks a lot for clearing all that up. I apologize for the initial confusion with my first sentence, as you guys pointed out, it's the bootloader unlock that actually voids the warranty. My fears have been quelled and I'm very excited to take full control of this notification light.

[Q] HTC One Battery?

So I'm going to be getting a new phone here soon... I've narrowed it down to an S4, or HTC One. I've taken a lot of things into consideration and HTC One seems like an amazing device, it pretty much just has not sold itself to me because of the non-replaceable battery.
I understand most people probably change phones every year and the battery should make that no problem, but I'm not one of those people. This will be my first smart phone I'll be purchasing and I'm sorta going by what will last longer with proper care.
Basically, I'm looking for information on the phone's warranty in the event of battery issues. How long is the standard warranty usually if any? Also how does HTC take care of their customer's and handle the warranty? I plan to purchase the phone from T-Mobile in full. My reasoning is because of T-Mobile's version's available frequencies. In-case in the future I decided to use it unlocked on the AT&T network. Also what are some experiences of users here with repairing their HTC One?
Thanks
Warranty is 1 year on every phone I have ever used including the One. If you get the phone from T-Mobile they will honor the warranty and swap out your phone. I have had it since the release day and no battery issues yet other than it doesn't last long enough lol. Far as I know you cant take really apart the One without risking damaging it or without some special tool HTC has.

Insurance claim replacement

So ive had my original for almost 2 years. Well i shattered the screen last week. Didn't want to do it but got a replacement thru insurance and the replacement phone came to me on 4.4.2 my old phone is rooted on 4.1.2. I just got thinking this morning.
Is it possible?
Has it been done?
To take the new phone, unplug the screen, and basically swap the guts out from the old to the new? Basically running old internals with the new screen? Any input would be great.
I pulled my old phone apart already so it's not a matter if i can take the phone apart. I just didn't know if that would create problems with the phone.

Hi JTProuhet,
Yes, that's possible to do if you know how to. I'd check ifixit for more instructions.
However, if you claimed insurance on your phone, don't you need to return the old phone to the insurance company? If you reported it as lost/stolen, then the original phone will be blacklisted and swapping screens wouldn't fix that. The screen itself has no identifying data that would lock it to a certain motherboard, though.
Have a good one, and good luck.
Yes i have to return my old phone. No i didn't list it as stolen. I was just going to swap out internals, and send old phone with new phone internals. I just didn't know if there was anything they could do, or if they would even know. I just can't deal with this 4.4.2 it's crashed more in the past couple days than my old one did running 4.3 leaked ota.
Thank you for your quick reply redjoker
I think it's more trouble than its worth. You'd have to make sure the IMEI number matches that of your old phone, and who knows if they check that indepth or just the sticker.
It probably would have been cheaper to buy a new LCD/Digitizer on ebay and swap out, than to do a mix and match of both phones (for logistical reasons). You can always try, but if it backfires, you might have to pay a fee (cost of the phone, I believe).
You can always click the thanks button instead of writing a new post, too

It's dishonest people like you that are ruining this world. This is theft.
Theft? How? I paid for the replacement phone. Not like i was talking about taking the guts out completely and not sending them back, phone would still work. So not sure how you say theft cause it really wouldn't be stealing anything.
Don't worry chief.. Im not going to do it.
