I don't get it. It is spelled out very clearly that BoS does not have camera yet and there have been some glitches. It's an ALPHA version, which mean it is only recommended for people who want to do some testing and hacking. It is NOT for mainstream usage or for people who like to whine.
My suggestion is for you to nvflash and then sell your device. Then go out and buy an ipad. I'm sure apple's got a department to deal with whiners like yourself.
Lol at someone with the screen name 'good intentions' talking that much smack; but he's right, the issues the op complained about are spelled out in the release post.
(1) The road to hell is paved with good intentions. Didn't they teach you that in grade school?
(2) Look at my other posts. If the questions are genuine, then I am more than happy to spell out the solutions. For example, take a look at this thread.
(3) The OP might as well complain about the lack of 4g or 5g or 6g or that the gtab can't sing and dance on its own.
This is exactly the reason why I recommend the ipad to most people.
Goodintentions has it right here.
I'm not sure what else I can do besides spell it out in my posts on SLD and TR. Smoke signals?
Btw, alpha 5 tonight. Still an alpha, btw!

Thanks for the "smoke signal".
The fact that the OP began a post here on XDA about BOS shows that he did VERY little research before trying it out.
and paople can say what they will about goodintention's posts, but he's probably THE MOST honest person on this forum...
There are a few different types of G-Tablet users:
There's me, the people that wish they could afford an iPad or other more expensive stable, supported tablet. They found the G-Tab, thought it was affordable, bought it, flashed a stable rom and are happy where they are, even if it is still a Froyo rom.
There's the people that can't resist messing around with technology. These people would even take a toaster apart to see if they could get "MORE POWER" out of it. They are familiar with Linux, or even any generic programming, and they have fun experimenting with the G-Tablet. These people can throw it against a wall, burn it in a bon fire, and still figure out a way to recover from the soft brick that it caused.
Then there are people like the OP. They find this cheap tablet, read all the reviews, negative and positive. See that there is potential if they flash a custom rom. They read up on the basics, then blame the rom developers when something breaks or doesn't meet their expectations. As Goodintentions explained, these are the people that should have saved up for an iPad. it does everything they want it to do, without any user customization whatsoever. They want an iPad more than anything, but think that they can somehow force their G-Tablet to become one...

Nah, smoke signals is so old fashion. Morse code is more up-to-date.
@ TJEvans: Just like the OP should be able to read a release post before installing a rom, you should be able to read my 'lol' and chill; I thought it was funny, thus the laughter. If you read anything other than laughter into 'lol' that's your baggage, not mine. No need to over-defend Good like he's your *****.

Mike, wasn't directing my post to you specifically. In General, when GI makes honest posts, people jump all over his stuff about it. You didn't, I just wanted to make sure that the OP knew that GI was actually being honest and true, an iPad is certainly the right device for somebody that's going to tear apart an alpha build of a custom rom becuase their "awesome 1.3 megapixel camera isn't working."
I mean, come on, is the camera on these things even worth using? All you can do is take crappy pictures of yourself.
Good news, OP, as a direct result from your OP, I have created a website called viewsonic gtab for dummies.

Apple makes great MP3 devices - the rest is just not to my liking. So there's some that just don't care for Apple ;-)
Hey Good Intentions, checked out your site-very nice! As an android/g-tab newbie everything you need to know is there. Essentially a hand holding guide for the average or below average user. Although you come across someone gruff at times at least you back it up with valuable advice with your site. I wish there was a better way you could get the word out to more people, it would probably save them from themselves very often.
A surprisingly positive review from the WSJ, home of Walt MossAPPLEberg.
The Evo 3D: More Than Meets the Crossed Eye
WOW! I'm really shocked by the battery review, Almost able to make it through an entire work day with 4G on but also while tethering. Sounds actually like a much improved battery system.
Maybe because this wasn't reviewed by Mossberg lol
But good to hear. Mossberg is very Apple biased, so I doubt you'll get a fair review from him.
Im more inclined to believe this than the review engadget put out. However, I'll wait for the one review that really matters before coming to my own conclusions- my own.

The 3D is a throw in. The specs alone on this phone will make it the best one on the market at release date. I prefer HTC over samsung but not everybody does. Could be the best phone this year as well like the OG EVO. If SGSII is the best phone then thats great too, remember the other manufacturers are not the enemy, crapple is!
This reviewer likes the 3D, but not voice quality. Being that this isn't the 1st review to say voice isn't so good, I'm thinking I might have to wait for week ro 2 after launch to see if I want to get this phone.
On any phone, voice quality is very important to me being it's a phone before it is anything else.

PM sent in return.
Will get this information up by Friday. At CES, and have business meetings all day tomorrow.
I haven't looked at the bootloader since the fastboot files were uploaded, and my system DEFINITELY said unlocked, but I thought there was no way that this meant I was lucky enough to have an unlocked bootloader, and I couldn't find any pictures on google of what a locked bootloader looked like on a RAZR.
After seeing the photo's today....that changed my mind.
More info to come.

Although I was walking to the bathroom, and two of the Moto guys were walking in front of me, and I joked....."You guys want to unlock my bootloader for me??" (before I figured out mine was already unlocked).
They didn't think that was too funny, although they understood.
I have a friend who works at Moto Mobility, and he's told me it REALLY isn't much they can do about it. Verizon has made it very clear to Moto that they can't unlock their bootloaders anytime soon, or they risk losing some pretty hefty advertising subsidies, which HTC actually gave up, as well as Samsung.
Moto isn't in a financial position to give those up....so Verizon has them literally by the balls.
Pretty sad really, Moto's devices, to me, are the best constructed on the market. They also seem to have been supportive of the dev's from day 1, or at least a lot more than other companies....ahem Samsung....
I will say, the Droid 4 was looking like a pretty spectacular device.
The RAZR Maxx is too thick for my liking. It's MUCH thicker than the RAZR, which makes it more like a Droid X2 replacement than a RAZR....but the extended battery life would definitely be cool.
I was talking to the guys at the booth about the Droid 4, as I think I'm going to get one next month, and they were getting some good battery life numbers off that unit. One guy was saying he was getting 12-13 hours with moderate to heavy usage on 4G, which would be exactly what I would be looking for.
I checked out the Galaxy Note, and it's not my cup of tea. I already find the RAZR to be too big at times, and the Note is just WAY too large to try and talk on with the headset next to your ear, and with the way the layout is, there's no advantage to using it in landscape with the virtual keyboard, as the keyboard still takes up the entire screen, and you have to use the next button to go to the next field, which causes me errors from time to time on my RAZR (that's really my chief complaint).
As for other things that I saw, the google TV/Android TV applications are all very cool, and could be something great with a little work.
There was an amazing camera concept that was being shown off....while not a real product, it was definitely awesome....check it out here:
www.wvil.de
Sony had the best glasses free 3D TV's shown here. Their UHD 40" glasses free 3D looked really good. The first glasses free 3D TV I could actually say I wanted to own.
LG is still kicking everyone else's asses in the 3D glasses realm, as their passive 3D TV's were hands down the best at the show.
I know 3D seems to be a gimmick, but there was more information on 3D broadcasting equipment, and content creation than at any previous show by almost triple what we've seen. So 3D is here to stay. There are tablets and phones & overlays (complete garbage) that are being shown off in wild numbers.
Intel's concept phone was KILLER!! I don't know who did the hardware on the outside, but the phone flies. It was running android, and man that thing cooked. With only a single core to, the apps were ripping through. If they didn't have the horrible dance routine to a taped production on stage, they would have had the better booths, but I was laughing the whole time this guys was supposed to be "interacting" with the big screen because it was just bad
There were also some really interesting accessories, although I really hate how EVERYTHING is so focused on the iPhone in that area. There were some interesting set up's for DJ'ing off iPads, where you use 2 on stands, and then an analog mixer. (I have built a full touch screen DJ box, which has a 21.5" multi touch LCD that I use so I'm partial to full touch mixing so Analog doesn't interest me anymore) but it was still cool to see.
Android is really, really pushing the envelope of being a development tool for companies to run their applications on. I saw more products that were built off the Android SDK than I expected. There were GPS units, heart monitors, camera stations, wireless blu ray devices, full car dashboards....all kinds of things that were on top of an android platform.
There was even a 3D printing machine, that you could do rendering in Android and have the machine print from there.
Overall, I do have to say, last year was a bit better in terms of shear number of BIG product reveals. It seemed the cell phone guys were a bit mild this year, and the TV people were focused on 4K UHD resolution, while just kind of waiting for 3D content to catch up so people get more interested.
All in all, still the best show in North America year in and year out, and I got to sit in a Lamborghini Aventador for the first time....wow, that's an amazing machine.
Sounds like a great time! I go to Comic-Con every year but I still need to see CES one day

good question! A picture would definitely be valuable here. Does it says "Factory use only", or "(SE)"?
What version number does it show?
From a computer, can you also try to run:
Code:
moto-fastboot getvar -all
(it will only read and show the value of variables, it won't perform anything more on the phone)
(you can get moto-fastboot.exe from http://www.megaupload.com/?d=GB4VV9ZW )

Dude they didn't exactly make it super easy to unlock the bootloader. There are going to be many "failures" as it may never be unlocked. The trouble is so many people get all excited and start asking for the "files" as if it's been figured out whenever they see a thread like this.
gogo unlock!
I only need to know the status code that you can read on your bootloader. Then I'll say to you all if this is useful for unlocking us all or not.

This is seriously the most bias review I have ever seen. He basically hates the phone because of the size and claims that it's not for anyone except Basketball players. Really?
Two local AT&T stores are currently sold out on this device. It's clearly selling. Zach should probably give up writing reviews and stick to opinion pieces.

Careful with the short man syndrome stuff... I got some small hands, am a short man, and would not give up the Note for anything! Why would I? I can use a tablet with any problems, I should definitely be able to use the Galaxy Note...
you know i honestly wonder if apple pays for sites like that.
Oh I dunno...he did stick with that stupid "they'll laugh at you". And if you're a fanatic of wanting to easily do things with just one hand, maybe the Note isn't for you. But almost the entire review was him praising the Note. I think the only other thing he was critical of was he wished they'd made the screen more smudge proof like on the S2.
But he did say if you wanted a large phone that would attract attention or a small tab, then this was def the phone for you. So I'm not exactly how biased against the phone he's being like Geller or whatever his name is.
I will say that this phone does indeed attract attention. My high school and middle school students were freaked out when they saw it on Mon and Tues. And the fellow teachers all wanted to play with it. I had it at the gym and a lot of people that saw it came up and asked what it was. A large percentage of them really liked it and were thinking about getting one because of the large screen to browse the web, play games, and work with files, etc.
I think not being able to text neatly with one hand is well worth all the benefits of this phone.

I meant no offense..
I'm believe the fact that I can't do a lot of things one handed easily as a bonus now. More times then not it simply stops me from using my phone when I really shouldn't.
Unfortunately, we are still living in an Apple world. It seems like more and more people are switching, and realizing that they've been duped into having a company tell them what's best for them. BGR is still under that company's spell.
This review wasn't nearly as bad as Johnathon's, but complaining about the size of smart phones nowadays is getting ridiculous. I could understand if it was an enormous brick, but it's more thin than the iP4.
Basically at this point, it does help to make a list of websites that are Apple-infested...and to avoid them completely. Obviously each click to their sites benefits them..so yeah.
I didn't bother opening the article...but seems like this other BGR guy also said no ones gonna buy the Note.
Based on 3 nearby at&t stores that I stopped by, they're currently sold out. When I asked them what kinds of people bought it, they said surprisingly iPhone people made the switch cuz they wanted the extra screen estate that's offered.
It really was a pretty fair review all the way up to the "size" paragraph. It will be hilarious looking back at the biased "journalism" of BGR and other iphanboi sites when the Note is finally recognized as a truly trendsetting device in about a year.

Then I guess you missed his comments on how he got a fulls day use out of one battery charge and how gorgeous the screen was and how fast it was and how nice the hardware looked? He actually listed a lot of good things about the Note.
And I don't see where he actually made fun of a person using the phone. He said it would attract attention and that it was a phone made for a basketball player but he never insulted anyone that would buy the phone. I think he even said if you shrunk it down about 20%, so that would drop it back down to around the 4.3/4.5" mark. So he's not exactly against phones larger than the iPhone.

From his original "review" and his dumb comments on his twitter account, I honestly think he just threw in a couple of positives after taking so much heat for his original assessment so that he could look less biased. Just my opinion/theory.
