I can for the life of me figure out how to set my downloads to go to my sd card by default please help thanks
I attempted to figure out how to do this last night, without any success. I didn't find where in chrome you could change the downloads folder. In dolphin browser I wasn't able to change it either. I changed the stock browsers default location, but my download failed. I wish I could point you in the right direction, but most of the stuff I have found doing google searches points me to posts referencing settings in browsers that I can not find.
Yea I tried seach and google and got nada. Like to set my sd card as default for everything pics, videos, downloads and music but can figure it out.

Easiest work-around: install the app Foldermount, It allows you to relocate any folder(s) from the device to SD card and 'tricks' your file system by setting up a virtual link in the original location to the relocated folder.
The nice thing about it is if, e.g., you move your Downloads folder, you don't have to change the settings in any of your apps, browsers, etc. Let them save to Downloads; only you (and the app) know that it's really saving to SD.

I know this probably has been asked a few hundred times, but for some reason I couldn't find the thread anymore that I remembered.
Currently running GSB v2.5 | GingerBread 2.3.3 [CM7.0.0 RC4 NIGHTLY].
Can someone link me to the thread that had a list of apps that are safe to move? Just can't seem to find it.
Also under:
Settings >> CyanogenMod settings >> Application >>
1.) Allow application moving >>
Does this need to be checked? I do not want to move apps that don't support to be moved or have trouble running from the sd card (such as apps with widgets, system apps, social media etc.)
2.) Install location >>
It gives me the option of automatic, internal and external.
If I check "automatic" and download/install a new app, will it automatically go to the sd card if the app supports it?
Moving apps via: "Settings >> Applications >> Manage Applications >> Move to SD card"
is ok or is there a different method I should be using?
Thanks in advance.

I'll just address the questions that I have answers to, of course.
1. Yes, you should check Application Moving. I've found that even with Titanium Backup's "Restore to original location" checked, that it won't put apps on the SD card unless CyanogenMod Application Moving is turned on.
2. I have External selected by default, but I find that some, or possibly all installations don't respect this anyway. I use a free version of a market app called Install Manager for root users, which then prompts me (not for market installs for some reason, but for side-loading apps from the SD card) for where to install stuff.
I don't know what Automatic does; I assumed it might install apps which at least officially are able to be located on the SD card. FYI you can manually (at least with that CyanogenMod Application Moving checked) move some apps than can't officially be able to be moved, and Titanium Backup (Under Menu/Batch) can move almost all apps, it seems, and they function fine AFAIK.
Once I backup with TB, restores (with that option in TB to restore to original location checked) go back to where I already moved the apps, no matter what the method.
3. Yes, you can move apps using the built in Android App Manager, or there are market apps to help, too. I use a combination of apps depending on what works best at the time. The afformentioned Install Manager and AntTek App Manager. There is also an Apps2SD Pro, which doesn't improve Apps2SD, it's just another interface for moving the apps around. I don't know if there's a free version. I think you can use Install Manager even after the app is already installed to move things around.
SD Apps not reappearing on home screen after reboot
Hello,
roirraW "edor" ehT: First of all - thanks for all of your input on these forums, many great ideas and answers coming from you - much appreciated!
Wondering if this topic has anything to do with an issue I have noticed now on GSB 2.7 and 2.8. After rebooting, and after all of the apps saved on my SD show up on my home screens (going from the generic green android icon to the app's icon), there have been 2 occasions where one of the apps never appears. The generic green android icon sits there instead. When I click it just states the app does not exist (that's a paraphrase). So it appears that the app is never pulled in from the SD card back to the home screen.
I updated my CM7 and TB settings after reading your comments, so this may have already fixed the issue going forward, I don't know.
Any thoughts? Hope my scenario makes sense!
Thanks!

Thanks and your welcome! Maybe others can donate to the devs for me since I never have any money to. Are you absolutely sure the affected app was successfully moved to the SD card? Some apps, no matter what method, will never move to the SD card. I haven't found many after all methods have been used (Titanium Backup batch moving for the most part), but there are some.
Yes - I am sure. One of them was the XDA premium app. It would reappear reboot after reboot on my home page, but then it suddenly didn't one time. I had another app do the same thing. It seems to be a random issue. It still shows up in my list of applications and shows as being on the SD card. So I simply removed the vacant android icon and put the apps back on the homepage. Not really a big deal, was just curious if anyone else had seen this issue.
Thanks again!
I just tried to set up my email account using the stock Nook email app and it reported that it can not find it. I tried the one from root and it worked.
Anyone have this problem? Are the two applications the same one? I am assuming they are not. I'd like to use the original one if possible.
I had this same issue. Basically the gApp "email.apk" replaces the stock "email.apk" and results in not being able to launch email from the Nook home.
There are a few solutions.
If you want the Nook email app, you will have to do a factory restore and then edit the "nookandzergy.bat" file per these instructions:
cfoesch said:
During the rooting process one of the questions is if you want to overwrite some of the stock applications (Gallery.apk, Email.apk, etc) in order to provide ones with better functionality. You could open up the NookandZergy.bat file (right-click and select "edit", of course, this is assuming you're using the same root process I think everyone else is using) and find the line:
Code:
adb push Email.apk /system/app/Email.apk
And just delete that line, and save. Then when you run it the next time, it won't replace the stock Email client.

Then re-root. The Google "email.apk" will not be installed and you will still have the B&N Stock "email.apk"
If you want the Google "email.apk" and want to be able to launch it from the Nook home screen see this post:

For the second part, yes.
Download Nook Color App Manager from the Market and launch it once. This will add it to your Nook Apps screen. You can then move it to one of the home screens (this, unfortunately, you have to do) and launch it from there. After that, you can select anything you've installed and add it to the stock Apps screen.
The only down side is that Market installed apps will not run from the My Apps screen. They have to be copied to one of the homescreens first.

I hope that helped! If it did, click the "Thanks" button!
I found a way to fix this. I removed the microSD card with the rooting files from the Nook Tablet and replaced it with another card. The Nook email program magically worked. If you only have one card, I suppose you could delete the rooting files from your card (and save them elsewhere) and reinsert the clean card. It worked for me.

anyone??????
For me this happens when I first boot up. It shows that there is no music in play music, and no pics in the gallery app. I usually just wait, and it fixes it self. Idk why this would work, but try using a file explorer (I us es file explorer) and playing a couple of songs through that. One time play music recognized my songs after doing that, but I don't know if it was because of that.

There's a setting somewhere in system settings that you can switch to use internal storage. I've never had a problem and with the os recognizing media with that checked. Requires a reboot though.
still not work buddy, please any other fix? :'(

Try to view your sd card from a computer or a file browser, look for sd card1 , sdcard2 .. if you have this its just because of the new
base through the cm10 system. It no longer uses EMMC as the path, easiest fixes are under settings-advanced-use internal storage or copy sd card1 into sdcard0 where the path is looking for music and pictures. That should fix it!! Try to reinstall cm10 if that didnt work, fresh wipe, and before your phone boots up the first time, pull the sd card out and let it boot completely then add the sd card back. GOOD LUCK

Im going to need some more info to better assist you then.
Of course you have the moto photon..
What kernel are you using? 1.3 should be the only one stable for a daily driver.
Try re-dowloading the rom from Jokersax.com and do a complete hard reset in CWM recovery.
Please verify you are using the jokersax recovery v3 NOT V4 .. v4 has a known issue when flashing gapps.
Try to do the hard reset 2x before doing any flashing. Hard reset all, clear the devlik cash as well 2x to avoid any issues.
At this point, going into mounts and storage you might want to go ahead and mount and format ALL the storage locations, pull the sd card out so it dosnt recieve a wipe. You may also want to remove your media from the sd card , format and only move back the DCIM picture folder for now.
Once your to that point, install cm10.. do not do anything else.. boot up and test the rom for boot, once you have boot, just go back into recovery and start flashing anything you need. i suggest the latest gapps, the cdma data fix, and mms fix 2 try this.. then re-boot and allow android to upgrade your fixes. once you have booted, go into the settings and choose the advanced-use internal.
Open voice dialer and say open APNS ( once opened it should be BLANK ) i know dont worrie, just hit your menue button and click return to deafault, then re-boot and your data connection, mms and pic mail all should be perfect. Add the sd card in and open gallery. give it time to refresh, mine took almost 2 minutes for pictures to load. If not i would use ( ROM TOOLBOX) or equivilent app that will allow you to browse your directorys with full access to make copys or rename items. Find the storage location and find the sdcard0 and sdcard1.. make a copy of the dcim folder in the sdcard1 that actually has the pictures there, and copy the folder to the other side as well so they are identical.. ICS doesnt look for EMMC anymore and is designed to have the two spaces for memory to support some apps..
Reboot after the copy and try to veiw pictures and music.. Apollo music is my favorite but seems to have some issues working well with google play music as well.. it seems if you run one dont run the other one unless you have closed the process out, I HAD ALOT OF FC issue without doing that each time.. Also use ROM MANAGER to run a fix permissions or do it inside the Recovery mode.
Verifiy some of this information for me and we can get this straightend out.. If you feel that ive helped or resolve the issue let me know!!

Also i forgot to mention to copy the music as well. I would do ALL the copy work from inside the phone not from a computer at this point knowing that the computer does not see the storage spaces correctly, ROM TOOLBOX PRO has given me the best results.. Also try NOT having internal storage selected first and see what shows up if anything. You can also keep the card out and take a picture to see what side your phone uses to view/save the photos and thats the place old pictures need to be as well to be viewed.. I know you might be frustrated at this point but take each step one by one and see what has changed and the results that came from the change.. i didnt do ANY build prop edits, any changes to the rom and have EVERYTHING running on my mypho.. (even videocam records for me on 3rd part app and mapping) PM me if you need links to downloads and if im in good coverage i can let you pull from my drop box privately if needed.. GOOD LUCK
Went through the following steps:
1 - From SYSTEM-APPS and moved many .apk and .odex to ext sd card. I thought this would essentially "uninstall" them by being in a diff laocation. They still appeared in app drawer, so
I used Root Browser to freeze them. now they SEEM gone from app drawer, but,
they still present!! How do I get rid of this stuff
btw - I identified and renamed and moved all the files related to OTA so not sure what happening here...help!
Pretty much have most moved and renamed except for these. Can anyone point me to the specific files and are these safe to also move/rename?

Hi, I keep some things saved on my sd card and whenever I try to edit outside of solid explorer it gives me issues. Does anyone know if ex sd card access enabler fixes this on the v30? If not, is there another way to correct this?
Any modules I can use to edit my gui? I'd like to get rid of the suggestions box whenver I go to settings. Any interesting modules I should install? Currently using youtube vanced, greenify and battery life extender.

EX SD access enabler will do what you want, in that it creates another link point for the external card. So it's a pointer, you'll have to use that for access to work.
I don't have the suggestion box when I enter Settings. If I did previously, I must have found a way to get rid of it.
