Hi All!
I have an HTC One X+, International. I have decided to try and "play" with it and so I have Unlocked and Rooted and then tried Installing a Custom Rom, based on those instructions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2213910
Unlock and Root went well, and so installing TWRP (its present).
Then I got here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2067325
After trying to install the ROM (first image then zip - followed the instructions), the device is booting with the CM logo spinning, but then it gives out an "Unfortunately, NFC Service has stopped " error...
Please help!
I tried to go back to the original restore via TWRP - no luck. The HTC screen appears and then stuck in it.

Try and flash another ROM & Image. It appears the ROM might not have been downloaded properly.
BTW what happened after it gave the NFC error? Did you complete the rest of the process and simply restarted the device?
flash the CORRECT kernel! read the op!!!!!!! why do you people not read?! seriously!
full wipe the rom before flashing CM on top of whatever you had before!
the rom works correct! the problem is you
Cant flash another rom

I cant get a new rom to the device - the computer stopped recognizing it and I have no idea how to get a file on it (maybe somehow via the terminal/SDK.bat?).
After it gives the NFC error, there is an "OK' button. I hit it a few times and nothing happens. Then the screen goes off and I cant turn it back on, unless I use the power button/volume down...
I did though tried a different image... same result.

I am assuming you have latest ADB tools installed in your system.
You can use ADB sideload to copy ROM in the phone
When you are pressing the powerbutton + vol down - I hope you are getting to boot loader?

Hi Lloir!
I much appreciate the personnel response and the time you took to reply to me.
Before I had the original HOX+ rom+sense and I believe I DID a full wipe
I flashed the kernel from your post. I believe that my lack of knowledge lead me to download the wrong one (?) boot-BLADE-42-201305062233
Would you be so kind and please guide me to the correct steps? I have spent several hours allready trying to fix this issue.
Once again, your (and everyone else`s) help is MUCH appreciated!

sorry for my ranty response: anyway
the kernel you need is boot-BLADE-CM10.1-whateverdatehere
not the 42 kernels, those are for AOSP\PA\AOKP
soon this won't be an issue

This was FAST answer!
I see my mistake (reading comprehension) :
CM10 - for 4.1 based roms e.g. CM10 and AOKP 4.1.2
CM10.1 - ONLY for CM10.1
42 - 4.2 based roms e.g. AOKP 4.2.1 and AOSP 4.2.1
I thought that your ROM is based on the 4.2 (?)
Downloading the Kernel now.
By the way, when and how do I add the gapps?
flash kernel
flash rom
after rom flash the gapps

Thank you. I already flashed kernel and rom. Phone booted up and seem to work. A few issues:
1) I did not put the gapps zip on the phone before the process.
2) Though the phone appears as a drive in Windows, I can not copy any file to it.
3) Camera says NO SD Card and exits....
Thank you for your help!

Is this what I should do to get the zip to the phone:
Set the device into ADB sideload mode. In TWRP you do this by going to Advanced then ADB Sideload.
From the command line, type adb sideload /path/to/rom.zip

Unfortunately I cannot get it to work
Yes U neeed to install the 3G modem update(this installed the 3g modem drivers) and after set the carryer apn setings.
Hi,
Where can I find the 3G modem update files?
I thought they were supposed to be applied in the ROM
After update Folio 100 to CyanogenMod 7.1.0-RC0 I can't update to other ROMs, for example FolioMod1.4 because after the update to FOlioMod the screen is black.
Any ideas?
I have a bricked Folio because any changes that I made, for example, I select language to Spanish and change wallpaper and after one reboot, the wallpaper isn't the wallpaper I selected before and the language is again in English.
I can say that CyanogenMod bricked my Folio, I can't do anything with this.

I tried this with FolioMod 1.4 and had the same problem, but managed to solve it. I'm a newbie, but I will try to explain how it's done.
Since ClockworkMod is installed with CM7 (Gingerbread 7.1.0...),this will be the interface for factory data reset and system update.
In the CLockworkMod menu yo must select wipe data/factory reset before or after you apply a new update.zip (which also is done in the ClockworkMod interface)
Thanks for the reply lillknurra, but make wipe after and before update don't work for me.
This time, the first time that I booted FolioMod works correctly, but when reboot, I have a black screen again.
Any more ideas?

Hi,
If a WIPE doesn't help which it most likely should. You could try to "roll back" the Folio to original FolioStock according to instructions found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=846199
I remember that I also read that there are some options to format some partitions, but I can not find it when searching...
I tried to roolback Toshiba Original ROM and works fine, but when I update to FolioMod 1.4 boots only the first time.
Now I'm triying to flash recovery image with fastboot metod before flash FolioMod.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=915894
In 10 minutes I know if it works.
EDIT:
Nothing, I will try all via fastboot mode and only works the first boot. When I do a fastboot flash boot boot.img I get a error:
failed to process command flash:boot error(0x30003)
In Spain is very late, tomorrow I'll try more options.

Flash the kernel for your rom from fastboot.
You might have to flash it twice, rebooting in between.

Just flashed this kernel.

Still didn't work.
Edit: I reflashed the kernel and it worked. It said in the thread "NOTE: Because the previous kernel included a Secured RAM Disk, so you may need to run the script twice. (Once this is done, then any subsequent flash should complete on the first time)"
So you must flash the kernel TWICE so it works. Thanks for the help!

hi all. i'm new to flashing kernels to phones manually. i have usually always used roms which have the stable kernels built in.
I just installed the beastmod 2.2 version and it has a separate kernal. i'm facing the same issue as my wifi says error when i try to enable it. PLEASE HELP!!
I enabled android debugging and connected my phone (not fastboot mode, just regular). i navigated into my android sdk folder and platform tools. just to confirm that my device is being recognized i tried adb devices and my s/n comes up. then i tried doing fastboot flashall and it gives me "C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools" i don't know what to do now
please can you provide with step to step steps how to flash a kernal (boot.img). i have also tried downloading kernal manager but it doesn't show any kernals in there for me to download.
any help will be greatly appreciated.
thanks in advance,
Eneet

Hi everybody,
here is my problem: I can not boot any kind of ROM or recovery image. CWM is working properly (it is an internal CWM). I have this issue since I tried to install the CM9 with 3.0.x kernel. I am pretty sure that this situation is all my fault, I mean, I do not think the nook has any kind of damage.
How can I fix it?
PS: I can easily flash the ROMs and the recovery images, but when I reboot the device, it just reboots in CWM.
PPS: I don't know if this can be useful: at the end of the flashing process it says "sd-ext.img not found. skipping restore of sd-ext".
Thanks

The message at end is normal. Did you create a backup using cwm prior to attempting to load new rom? Did you perform reset and clear cache post loading new rom? What were you running prior to this? This might help in determining what the issue is.

- Yes, I've created a backup before loading the new ROM but not using CWM (I've used rom manager).
- Yes, I performed wipe cache and data after loading the ROM.
- When everything was working fine I was on CM7 Alpha Final (the all-in-one-mod version).
Check if there is a backup file in SD/clockworkmod/backup. If so, try restoring backup through CWM. I've had the same problem flashing cm9 3.01 with CWM 5.0. The easiest way back was to restor a backup of previous mod.
Good luck

In addition, before you go flashing new kernels, you might want to try and just re-flash CWM. Not sure if it would work, but it's just a thought. You could boot into a CM7 SD ROM, then use @Indirect's Recovery Flasher App to re-flash CWM to see if you just had a bad recovery install. At any rate, good luck.

When I write "fastboot" nothing happens (it says "command not found").
I don't know if this could help: I just would like to make it run. I don't need any particular ROM. Even a "simple" unrooted stock could be good. I don't mind if I will loose all the data.
I did find a lot of threads but i didnt get any answer to my question.
I was using a 2.3.6 stock Atrix 4G. I decided on getting the cm9 so i unlocked the bootloader using the following link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1182871
as i am using the newer version so i was advised to run option 1 of the script( click the link to see the script) and then option 3. I did option 1 and then my phone got stuck in unable to boot and then i ran option 3 and just pressed enter and my phone booted. So i didnt advance on the script and closed the script. Now my phone says UNLOCKED at the m logo while booting.
And then for rooting i used the following link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1769497
i did get some errors while using the coding( as i had typo error) but then after two reboots and trying i got the success on my cmd window.
but i didnt get the same command promt text as upndwn4par( see the link) got. Still i anyhow got success. I checked my apps and super user was indeed sitting there.
After unlocking and rooting i downloaded rom manager and also downloaded cm9.zip file into my sd. Then pressed flash CWM and then also made a backup for my stock ROM and then pressed download from sd card on rom manager , then it asks cleear cache dalvik and backuo. I checked all and then my phone reboots and gets stuck in the ANDROID GUY with an Exclamation mark inside a triangle. I also tried reboot with recovery in ROM manager but the same screen.
I have mentioned all my steps. So please guide me where or what am i doing wrong?
please help , cause moto ditched me and i want to ditch moto's software.

I don't think recovery is installed properly. Try to fastboot flash recovery.

What do you mean "did a little of installation"? You either install or you don't...

sorry, i must have got crazy thinking i bricked my phone. Started praying and all.
But now, Thank God i did install the cm9 with a help of many people. I got help from random posts and all. Now my problem is what version of gaaps do i install.
i already have this version in my computer gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip (dont know where i downloaded it from)
but in http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Latest_Version/Google_Apps it shows the version below
gapps-ics-20120317-signed.zip
Hello there!
This question might have appeared alot but I'll try to be as short and accurate as possible on the following:
About two weeks ago, I decided to root my Sony Live With Walkman (4.0.4 Ice cream sandwich) and now I'm thinking of installing Cyanogenmod 9 stable release. But I'll leave this mod for the last part and let us focus on the rooting process I've done.
I've used the following tutorial: talk.sonymobileDOTcom/thread/41119?start=0&tstart=0
At first, I was unsuccesful but in the second try I had managed to root my device (Unlocked bootloader).
Being a bit tired over the official Sony ICS, I thought of putting Cyanogen to my device. This is where the things get confusing for me:
I've spotted multiple tutorials and each one is different and unclear to me. These two are the ones I'm thinking of as the most reliable sources:
- wiki.cyanogenmodDOTorg/wiki/Sony_Ericsson_Live_with_Walkman:_Full_Update_Guide
- technologic101.wordpressDOTcom/2012/03/12/tutorial-how-to-install-cyanogenmod-9-0-ics-on-your-se-xperia-2011-device/
So, I have Cyanogen9 coconut, drivers, fastboot, google apps and proper FTF file downloaded.
But what now? Which tutorial is better and accurate for my state of device? Am I risking a brick by doing this? What are the current downsides of Cyanogenmod9 for this device?
Please, write your opinions, explain or link me to the proper guides for my case. I am grateful for any kind of information you give me!
Thanks!

Is kernel the TFT file or the Cyanogenmod zip file (about 125MB)? And how do I flash this with Flashtool?
Boot.img inside the zip is the kernel. Extract and flash that file using fastboot. After flashing the kernel, start your phone and enter recovery. From recovery flash the zip files

Okay then you have done have of the work.
Now backup all your contacts, apps, sms's etc. Then power off your device and boot into fastboot mode. Then take the kernel from the CM9 zip and flash it. After that start your phone and just when the logo gets brighter press the volume down button with which you will boot into the CWM recovery. After that navigate to backup and restore and backup your rom. Then do a wipe data/factory reset ,then wipe chache and after that go to advanced and then wipe the Dalvik Cache. After that go to install zip from sd card and then choose from sd card. then navigate to your rom and flash it. After the flashing is done flash gapps and then reboot.
Note: To navigate in CWM use your volume keys and use the home button to select.
To enter Fastboot: Plug the usb cable side into the phone and while you are plugging it into the computer keep
your volume up key pressed.
To flash a kernel: Put the kernel you extracted from the zip into your fastboot folder. Then open a command
prompt in that particular directory ( in Windows 7 press shift in a blank place and right click).
Then enter this command fastboot flash boot boot.img(Your phone must be in fastboot
mode for this.)
In my signature, there's a guide how to install a custom rom/custom kernels, maybe this could help you!
I would use the cyanogenmod full update guide :good:
You don't need any ftf, you flash a custom rom with clockworkmod (cwm), but this should be explained in the guide

Thank you, you've cleared alot of things up for me.
I hope I'll get some time to try the whole thing out and write about it here.

Welcome.
Oh, before I get myselft into this, am I free of installing any drivers? Since I've installed some drivers for rooting purposes, I'm not sure if I need to install these drivers I've downloaded for CM9

No, just the fastboot drivers to flash the kernel. Go to flashtool installation folder > drivers and install all of them for all devices, that should be all :good:
Ran into a problem with ROM Manager :/ It's supposed to offer me recovery mode by rocking the volume up or down while device is rebooting, but none of these work (device boots normally).
Any idea on how to solve this?

I'm not sure about that... all I know is that my phone is rooted and bootloader unlocked.
So how and which custom kernel should I flash then?

It depends. If you wanna flash any CM or AOKP roms you have to flash thier respective kernels. If you want to flash any stock based roms you can flash any ICS or GB kernel you want like Mesa, Panic kernel etc.
As for how to flash a kernel refer to my post on the page before.

Ah, all these processes are confusing me so I apologize for forgetting about that! Reminded now.
So, to enter Clockwork recovery mode, my phone has to be connected to the PC with usb debugging on?

No. For entering the CWMR you have to press the volune down button when the bootup logo gets brighter. For this either you must have CWMR install or else you must have a custom kernel

That didn't work. When the Sony logo gets brighter, a blue LED lights up for that moment.
In cwm, selecting 'Flash ClockworkMod Recovery' opens up a box where my phone model is displayed. After that, it says it's unsupported and I can manually select either 2.x or 3.x+. I've selected the 3.x+ one and in the menu it says 'Current Recovery: ClockworkMod 5.X.X.X
Shall I try with 2.x? I have no clue here.
System setting>about phone
Mind telling us your kernel version? From there we would know your current kernel
