It can be rooted but only with the moonshine s-off which isn't out yet. From what I've read moonshine will s-off and root your device all in one shot and once that's done you can flash until your eyes bleed.
It's coming soon and that's all we're going to know until it's released so just sit back and browse the ROMs and kernels until it's here.
Edit: you also have the option of sending your phone in to get jtagged which will unlock your phone so you can flash stuff if you really can't wait. Think that's about $50.

Why do you have to unroot to get an upgrade?
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
because i dont want them to give me any crap for it or to give me a hard time. you never know, ive hears mixed stories from people on here

I think he meant, you don't give them your old phone when upgrading.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
I believe there is an unroot.zip floating around somewhere. I stumbled across it a while back, but never used it. You can also flash a complete stock RUU and go back to factory as well.
Sent from my ADR6400L using xda premium
Thy don't take your old phone when you upgrade so you won't need to unroot. Unless you are sending the phone in as an exchange toward the new phone. In which case, you will need to unrest and lock the boot loader.

So I was aware that you used to be able to get RUUs from HTCs website, but upon going to the website I don't see them anywhere, at least for the DNA. Anyone know where to get them?
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk 2
They are not out yet for the DNA, dont know when either. HTC releases when they want too. Just keep checking the forums, we would probably have it here as soon as its out...

Thanks for the response. My worry is that HTC isnt going to release RUUs for the DNA. I need them because I cant get otas because im not on Verizon.

I don't think he needs the hboot. I think the radio is a must, the jury is still out on the ota kernel (boot.img). Some people say battery life is worse and others say it's better.
Go to the link below. Its the new place that has all the ruu.exe. The DLX folder on that site is the one for the HTC Droid DNA. They dont have the one with the latest OTA yet but they will soon.
http://androidfiles.org/ruu/
I have not been able to find a single post that definitively states this, but here's my experience:
Switched from Sprint to Verizon Friday the 15th, got a Droid DNA.
As I walked to my car, I saw it start an OTA update and didn't think anything of it.
Came here and researched root, etc.
Followed instructions in HTC DNA SuperCID thread, CID still = VZW_001
I guess if we have an new DNA running 2.04.605.2, we'll have to wait.
Thanks to all who do the hard work figuring this stuff out - I'll wait patiently with my fingers crossed.
Note: This is for DNA users who have successfully achieved superCID. If you have accepted the OTA without getting superCID FIRST, you’ll need to wait a little while longer, we have something in the works for you.....

I'd love to know as well. I did the OTA and have been pulling my hair out wondering if there is a lovely new method. I am also willing to donate to Jcase and other devs for all of their hard work. :fingers-crossed:

I was also wondering whether there is a workaround to return to stock prior to the OTA, and simply downgrade to the point where we can get the SuperCID working.....
Gonna give that a try.

Supercid will likely come at the sametime s-off comes which defeats the purpose anyway. Cid partition now has the same power-on wp that the security flag partition has always had. Needless to say, the old HTC exploits are closed and we are starting from the ground up.

in all fairness the att bloat is really unnoticed on the htc one. atleast to me anyway. since I am on int there is none. but I would still like a RUU. in the international section there RUU's started popping up already
Saw this FB feed yesterday but when you click the link, file name shows Europe. Will watch out for Att RUU.

Ok now you're scaring me. Anyone want to point me in the right direction? I would like to download that myself. Forgive me if it's right under my nose. I know nada about HTC but I already had to have my other 2 AT&T devices replaced so I am insured and down to test if needed.

Don't accept the update until you hear from other people what happens. Many times something like that can make you lose root but not always. So be daring if you wish, me no.

I have never heard of an S-Off preventing OTAs on any HTC device. I know if you are on a custom ROM, OTAs from Verizon will not be pushed to your phone.

Just for sh*ts and giggles, I locked my device back up, performed the RUU, went back to S-On and then took all the updates up to this new update and then tried to Moonshine again...it was successful. I'm back to S-Off, unlocked and 2.07.605. Apparently, Verizon didn't fix the exploit in this update. So unlike them.
I'm stock and downloaded the update. It havent installed it yet. Where do I find it? I can upload it if anyone wants to take a look at it.

Explains the htcdm error I was getting this morning. On a custom Rom. I never plan on taking any Verizon updates again. Last one bricked my phone (2.06) glad I was able to eventually moonshine and get off their horrible software. As far as the sense 5 update coming I could care less. Been running a sense 5 Rom since the release of tranquil. Wouldnt be surprised to see the new one Rom ported over very soon. My bet is we see it before the update.
