You are stuck with 2.3.5 ROMS loaded through bootstrap.

You need bootstrap recovery and you can flash locked 2.3.5 roms like hybrid rom from peter_. Dont try roms like beanstalk or miui. It will brick your device

[Q] Possible Atrix Softbrick, Please help?

I am running 2.2.2 Froyo with 1.77 build.
I unlocked and rooted via Gingerbreak.
I went into CWM Recovery, erased all cache and flashed Alien Rom v3 and immediately flashed the Alien theme over it (I think that is where I made my booboo). The Rom appeared to load perfectly yet when the phone restarted the Moto logo animation appeared to run then the screen would go dark. This process repeats every few seconds non stop.
I can get into Android Recovery, RSD, everything. I tried flashing the 1.8.3 sbf through RS Lite 5.3.1 and while it said "PASS" it still hangs at the Moto animation.
I have no idea what to do. I think I can get out of it as I have done A LOT of searching through the forums and google but I am terrible with CMD.
Any helpful and/or useful advice?
Try restoring a backup, if not try to flash a fruitcake

Also I didnt create backups

Are you unlocked and flashed cwm through fastboot, or did you use the system recovery app?

System recovery app. I can access Androids recovery (obviously) but not many options...
Did you unlock your bootloader?
I ran into the same issue the first time I tried to flash Alien. Since you're flashing Alien, I assume your bootloader is unlocked (As it's required for Alien).
If you have an unlocked bootloader, do this:
EDITED: Apparently, I'm a new user and can't post links. Go to the address bar and replace the number with 1163342
Use Fastboot to flash the boot.img and the system.img files. This will give you Gingerbread/Motoblur like it comes out of the box. (It's a start!)
Thanks for the link. Will try when I get home. If I can just get past cmd...

[Q] Problem w/ Clockworkmod Recovery on 2.3.6

Still kind of a semi-n00b, but here's my issue:
I was previously using my Atrix 4g on 2.3.4 and was both rooted and unlocked. I also had full access to Clockworkmod Recovery (through the app if I remember correctly).
I updated to 2.3.6 and rooted the phone again, but this time I cannot install Clockworkmod Recovery. I thought Motorola unlocked the bootloader with the latest update, but maybe I made that up?
Anyway, just wondering what I have to do to get Clockworkmod Recover on here now that I'm rooted with 2.3.6.
Please help. Thanks!
Did you install CWM thru RomManager or something like that? Have you tried to install Rom Manager and install it again? Have you tried holding the down volume button when you restart to see if you can get into CWM?
Is UNLOCKED written on the top corner of the boot logo screen if not i think u will have to flash the pudding file to make unlocked bootloader working again.
I tried installing through the ClockworkMod app. I did try all the basics - uninstalling, reinstalling, etc.
The phone does not show unlocked any longer. I've looked in the forums and unless i'm looking in the wrong places, unlocking the bootloader on 2.3.6 seems much more advanced than it was on 2.3.4.
Why is that?

Help booting into recovery mode!

Ok, so I am running android version 2.3.4 and I wanted to flash cyanogen 10 mod. so I rooted my phone, checked with root checker to make sure it was rooted, then I tried to install with the stock recovery. To find out I couldn't because of the stock recovery not allowing me to. So I got the DX2 bootstrapper, allowed super user permissions, then I tapped the recovery mode button. The phone just boots normally with no recovery screen. help?

When you say DX2 bootstrapper, are you talking about CWM Recovery? That's the app I've seen used the most for flashing/backups/etc. I'd highly recommend using that one if you're not already.
You can find download links here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1169677
After installing the app, run it from your app drawer and follow the onscreen instructions:
Press "Install Recovery"
Wait for the "Success" popup
Plug your phone into a wall charger (very important)
Press "Recovery Mode"
Wait for phone to boot into recovery, then proceed as normal.
If you've already tried this, and it's still not working, I'd look into how you rooted. I know using the zergrush method doesn't work as well as Pete's (or at least that's been my experience).
it's not really cwm recovery, it's dx2 system recovery, works almost the same
cwm doesn't work on dx2

I assume he means the Bootstrap Recovery for the Droid X2. Thats the correct file. I'm surprised no one has mentioned this, but when you reboot, make sure your phone is plugged into the wall. You HAVE to have it plugged it for it to work.
EDIT: Never mind, someone did say that. But I would think that would be your problem.

[Q] Recovery flash = no luck

Hey guys so I'm trying to root and flash a custom ROM on my friend's x2. I have it rooted and i used the bootstrap method. When i boot into recovery it comes up with some severly outdated CWM.. I get into ROM manager and flash the newest recovery but whenever i boot back into recovery it still goes to the outdated one.. I wanted to push the recovery.img via adb/fastboot but can't for the life of me find JUST the .img, it's always a flashable .zip for some reason. I've read a hundred tutorials on how to do this but no one really has had issues with this specific thing of course.. not that i've seen anyway.
Thoughts?
In other words, how do you flash the latest CWM and BOOT to it? Whatever methods i know of obviously dont work for the x2
The Droid X2 only uses one recovery and that is the bootstrap recovery. There is no other recovery that will work for it. So that "outdated" recovery is all you get.
EDIT: be carefull with ROM manager. Some stuff may mess up your phone. Dont try and use it to flash a rom or anything. The Droid X2 has a locked bootloader so the only tools it has are custom made tools that work only for the DX2.
EDIT 2: Also, the droid X2 requires certain steps that other phones may not need. So maybe tell us where you are right now. What version of android is it on, what ROM you want to flash, etc.
Just download bootstrap recovery for the droid x2 (search in the forum) and download it, we are limited to what our phone can use because we are on a locked bootloader, also if you want to get into bootstrap recovery again after you install a rom like cm10 or cm7 you have to download bootstrap recovery cm7 I hope I helped :fingers-crossed:

You cannot install CM or custom rom on locked bootloader. Please unlock your phone boot loader first. And for recovery problem, did you install busy box? That recovery need busybox installed to work.
