I have Xperia Ray with 2.3.4 latest firmware which is rooted and CWM recovery installed. Its on Stock and bootLoader is NOT unlocked..
Its getting slow after I flooded it with too many applications.. Now I want to reset it but RETAIN ROOT and CWM Recovery.. is it possible?
EDIT: How the **** did I act so Stupid and Noob..
*face palm*
Its in CWM Recovery Wipe Data/Factory Reset.
Problem Solved.. thank you..
As with another android, yes you can. It wont erase them. They will be gone if you reflash with seus or flashtool(if you go with stock rom that is). Btw have you tried to follow my tutorial below? you might not have to reset then.
Hey thanks for the Reply.. Actually I just want to restore my Xperia Ray without flashing any ROM... Just want to make it clean..
Btw.. why isnt there any stock optomized custom with Stock Kernel here in Ray Development section?
I want stock Rom with stock kernel with all bloatware removed and should be superfast..
any Rom of this kind available here?

Hello All
I have bought a new Xperia Sola. I want to make a backup of its ROM before I upgrade to ICS or even if i dont upgrade i want a backup of stock ROM so that i can reinstall it after 1 yr (once the phone gets laggy).
I searched but couldnt find any relevant post. Can someone please guide me.
I found this link for X1 but not sure if the process applies to Sola also.
I dont want to install anything and just want to back a backup of the factory state of this new phone.
Please help me.
Thanks a lot.
not a single reply ((
U need to root and install cwm
Its the best backup of current state of ur rom
Root and installing cwm is extremely easy
So atleast u need to install cwm
Backup apps wont backup ur rom
Or if u want
U can just backup apps via titanium backup
U can get back to gingerbread easily via flashtool
Thanks for your reply.
Can you please give me on some place where i can download a custom kernel with CWM for Xperia Sola?
There is a thread in which guy is teaching how to build / compile own kernel.I dont wanna compile. It looks too difficult. I can just flash new kernel.

First of all thanks for your reply.
But this is based on Sony Latest Source Code: 6.1.1.B.1.54 / .56 / .75.
But my build number is 6.0.B.3.184
Where can i find one for 184
I already have my bootloader unlocked and device rooted and running on this old kernel and getting a notification that NEW SYSTEM UPDATE AVAILABLE 6.0.B.3.184
I am on Stock GB. Just need the rooted kernel for build 6.0.B.3.184.
Hey guys,
I'm at stock rom (latest Italian ics)
and want to flash custom rom and kernal with CWM, offcorse with root and unlock bootloader
all at once
I guess I can make it easy like the kernel with CWM and root with rom,,, something like that :-/
please if it possible give me steps and links with each step
and with links to overclocked kernel and good custom ics rom
Forgive me, I know they are all prediscussed before, but in separate ways which is too hard for me :-S
I'm a Xperia U user

After getting root and cwm flash jb rom if u want
You better try unofficial Jelly Bean rom.. this is very speedy compared to ics rom and having new features..
Bugs in this rom was Front camera wont work developers are trying to fix it and illumination wont work like ics

Hello guys, please forgive me if any of this has caused the slightest troubles to you
So,
i just rooted my phone a day ago and installed clockwork mod too...
i am a total newbie and don't know anything about this.... So i went searching for some custom mods for my sk17i or Xperia mini pro...
And i found one on this site http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2102979
So then i installed it from the instructions given on most of the websites... i had a kernel of 4.1.b.0.587 on the phone and i don't even know much about flashtool...
Now the rom is installed or whatever it is but the UI has completely changed and it's not like the pics on the site... It's just completely black... And the worse part is that i can't even access my settings menu on the phone... So now i am blocked from doing anything... i cant even start usb debugging and take off the root....
please tell me some roms for the phone or any other way this can be undone...
Oh and btw i also tried installing some roms from http://get.cm/?device=mango because i thought cyanogen is pretty famous...
But none of them gets installed... and i even tried placing them as updates but no luck :crying::crying:
please help... thank you so much

Hmmm...if i understand your problem correctly, you ROOT and install CWM on you Mango, then you flash custom mods...problem appears after flashing custom mods right????
Hmmm....okey, for you info, those custom mods are for CM10 Roms ONLY and i believe you haven't flash CM10 Roms FIRST before you flash those mods...you can't use those mods on STOCK ROM (GB and ICS)...its designed for JB rom only....No wonder your phone got black screen...you trying to flash some mods that isn't COMPATIBLE with your roms...you need to flash STOCK Roms back if you want to fixed your problem...
for you second question...did your phone BOOTLOADER is Unlock??? if is not then sorry you can't CM Roms without unlocking the Bootloader first....CM Roms mush use CUSTOM KERNEL not STOCK KERNEL and after Unlocking you Bootloader then you can flash CUSTOM KERNEL and CM Roms...
Thank you so much!

As far as I know, the kernel should be in the rom.zip (it's the boot.img). Extract it and flash it using flashtool or the fastboot tools
Otherwise search for a kernel for android 4.2.2 in Dev section and flash that one. Should work too
Sent from my Nexus 4 running Android 4.2.2
One thing to remember is, before flashing a custom ROM or MOD, ALWAYS MAKE A BACKUP.
To be on the safer side, backup every week or so and keep the last two or three backups.

Your phone got almost bricked,No it didnt, First thing before installing a custom ROM clear your system, data, cache partition..did you do that?
ok so you have CWM installed..follow this exactly
Start CWM by pressing vol down when your phone starts up,Select Mount USB Storage under mounts and storage, connect phone to pc,transfer ROM zip file to sdcard then
format /system ,/data,/cache ,now select install zip from sdcard and select your ROM zip file from sdcard
Reboot System..
You should be clear now..
Hope i helped..
Regards..
PS :Certain CM ROMS can be highly unstable so i recommend checking out the bugs and everything before you flash a CM rom..otherwise ICS is always smooth and stable..and have got a lot a lot of mdpi roms on xda..thanks to devs..
EDIT: if u r on a stock kernel, then unlock your bootloader by following steps at unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com then flash a custom kernel that supports JB..look over at the index thread created by predator at the dev section..
then follow my steps above..
DO NOT FLASH CUSTOM JB ROM ON STOCK ICS KERNEL.IT WONT WORK.

Thank's for sharing, i tried but no luck!!
Anyway FINALY i used this method and its WORKING
When I thought I was about to sell my phone for parts (from almost all .ftf's and kernels- One final attempt:
--I started with a "locked bootloader" - forced pushed cwm-reg.img and installed superuser.apk - Here
--When I got the chance of going into recovery...
Wipe/Factory reset
Wipe Cache
Format System
Format Data
Format Cache
--Flash .62 ftf
--Fastboot XKernel
Boot into recovery
--Installed hybrom v10 (twice - what? I was hopeless and with a little faith made the 2nd install anyway)
--Booted into hybrom v10 (no response whatsoever)
Pulled battery (no way of turning it off)
--Flashed .62 ftf again and prayed (preparing to leave home and go to the nearest used-phone shop to sell my ST15i)
@ First boot everything was back to normal...
After 2 days I have a smile on my face...
