[Q] animated icons in notification bar/status bar? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone been able to figure out how to create a new animated icon in the status bar? I've been searching on here and on google, and haven't found anything that seems to work (which means the solution will be posted in the first post, of course).
I found these threads: [TUT] How to change a static notification icon to an animated icon , Animated Statusbar 1.1
,but none of them seem to be doing the trick.
I also tried uploading a theme to the UOT Kitchen and picking one of the animated icon sets, but no luck there, either. I've been playing around with the drawable xml files and everything, but about the best I've been able to do is to make my wifi symbols disappear.
I'm trying to do this in a theme-chooser theme...maybe I have to do this directly to the system APK itself?

Editing Icons

I've tried to edit a couple icons I've found to make my own shortcuts (basically changing colors) but whenever I do it leaves the icon with a background.
What program is out there to make an icon transparent..preferably freeware or something cheap?
Thanks

Status Bar Header....

Can anyone tell me how to resize this? This is the area in the notification bar that has wifi, bluetooth, etc.. toggles --- I have tried editing size of the image in gimp and ninjamorph but that is not helping. I do not want to be able to see the names of the toggles....help....
Ask Annex. I remember that he knew the mod to remove text under those buttons. Most of his themes do not have that text.
I had the same issue and ended up using a header out of the SGS2 theme for project V on the EDT forums and changing the color to suite my needs.
Edit: attached them here, not sure which one it uses so I did them both.
Thank Annex, 100% his work.

[Q] Transparent notifications in TW JB?

Been trying to figure out what to edit in TW JB StatusUI.apk to make the backgrounds of the actual notifications themselves transparent. Tried editing a bunch of xmls, but I've only found values for the status bar, the notification dropdown background, and the categories and whatnot in the notification dropdown.
I suspect that the files I need to edit are some of the .9.png files in xhdpi, but I've also found that I can't edit or add any 9patch files without causing SystemUI.apk to fail to recompile, so I haven't been able to test those files. Probably just doing something wrong, there, as I've never messed with those files before.
Looking through the GS3 and GN2 question forums hasn't yielded much in the way of answers for this, so I'm just going to ask here. Any ideas?
Edit: This background (from a different phone): http://s15.postimage.org/y8ad3u917/Screenshot_2012_10_03_17_59_49.png
I got my 9patch files working, still can't figure this out. I can make the status bar transparent, the notification dropdown windown transparent, the quick toggles transparent, but I just can't find what actually sets the background for the notifications themselves!
This is seriously causing me a massive headache. I've edited so many png files at this point that I think I'm losing my mind.
Hi there, willl this help?
