[Q] Where is the digitizer on the Samsung Galaxy S III? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey, first time posting here, so let me thank you all in advance for just responding.
I've been looking all around for a description of where the actual digitizer is on the Samsung Galaxy S III. And so far I've found vague views of what it is and where it is. I've taken apart and repaired iPhones before and the digitizer is usually attached to the front panel glass but when I took apart a Galaxy S III, I couldn't find where the digitizer is. When I tried looking on shopping sites for a replacement of the front glass with the digitizer, all I've seen were the front glass with just the two touch buttons attached at the bottom and no signs of the actual digitizer that I'm familiar with in the iPhones.
So plain and simple, my question is where is the digitizer on the Samsung Galaxy S III?

Titan cracked screen

A friend of mine has an ATT Titan (phone says PI39100) with a cracked front glass. I was looking to purchase a new front lens/digitizer for her phone and do the replacement. Most of what I find online are for the x310e.
Long question short: is the front lens for the x310e the same exact one as for the PI39100? or are the two not compatible?
Also, if someone can point to a DIY for doing this I'd appreciate it - otherwise, i'll take on it the same as the Galaxy Tab 10.1 I did earlier this week (using a hair dryer and an exacto knife) I would like to at least know the lens is the same so I can order soon.
Thanks in advance.
The screens are the same. The only difference will be that the new screen will have the HTC-Brand name instead of AT&T. Is it just the glass cover that's broken or is the whole touch screen? You can either replace just the glass cover or the entire touch screen. At least that is what I understand because I've seen both parts offered separately.
Regarding the DIY replacement have a look here:

Hope this helps.

Excellent. This is EXACTLY what I was looking for. Thank you VERY much for your assistance
Oh, and it's the glass cover that's broken, because she's still able to (and currently continues to) use the phone. On ebay, I've seen the glass and digitizer going for under $30 shipped, so I think it's reasonable enough.
Thanks again. :good:
Glad to help. That's we are all here for: help each other.

Digitizer is heavily glued with the lcd itself, chances are very small that u will succeed to replace only the digitizer, wothout doing damage to the lcd.All those auctions on ebay are...nearly scams, because it's almost impossible to separate digitizer and lcd, don't fall for it. I have tried to do this on HTC HD2 and fail.

[Q] Quick Screen Replacement Question

Quick question and i'm sorry if it has been asked before.
My stepdad cracked the screen but the digitizer and the LCD are fine.
My question is, can I replace the glass screen by its-self (as i've seen for sale for $7.00), or is the digitizer and LCD glued to the screen when I take it apart similar to the iPhones.
I'd rather not have to purchase a digitizer and a LCD if i don't have to.
Thanks in advance for the help :good:
Its one unit so you need to buy that for about $185. Its only possible to successfully separate the glass from the digitizer and the capacitive buttons with a machine.
Used notes are priced at about the same as the replacement screen unit.
Worth a try

Not really. The hairdryer heats up and damages the lcd while doing a marginal job of softening the adhesive. You will likely overheat the lcd. The buttons are deeply imbedded in the adhesive and are harder to place on the new glass. The adhesive sticker is pretty difficult to place correctly. I have excellent skills, and have replaced many screens (gorilla glass is a poor name choice) and I attempted this but it didn't go so good.

Galaxy S3 Glass Scratches

I've read many, many topics on the internet about the phone being scratched easily - and I've fallen into this. I know, I should have been using a a screen protector earlier, and I regret it. However, I was wondering how much it would cost to get the front screen replaced on the S3? Only the front screen is scratched - very badly. Any ideas?

Probably about £50, but why are you asking here when you could look on the repair shop's site
From what i've seen, 50 seems about right. However, if you're brave enough, you could try to order the parts yourself and replace it. You run the risk of screwing up your AMOLED screen though.
Screen (glass) is part of display module (AMOLED panel with frame). Officially glass is not replaceable, only entire display module.
You may replace display module at official Samsung service for about 200$.
You may buy display module with frame for about 100$ and replace it by yourself (it is easy, it will take 1 hour).
You may buy S3 glass only for about 5$ and replace it by yourself. It is not original glass. It is hard to replace. You may break display (if so you will need new display module with frame).

Samsung Galaxy mega digitizer replacement question

Hi
I recently dropped my phone which caused the digitizer to stop responding to touches.
Anyways, long story short, i managed to take the lcd and digitizer apart. It was much much harder compared to galaxy s3. I almost gave up half way.
Anyways, if you see the pictures, lcd is completely white but when i just hold the digitzer above it, lcd starts to work fine. Seems like there was a film between lcd and digitizer which made the lcd show real colours..
Have a completely broken the lcd? or is there still hope. Digitizer is obviously cheaper compared to getting a whole lcd. I was hoping to stick it together with loca once i had a new digitizer... Any ideas?
led or lcd

I'm exploring the same question. I've seen the led sold separatly from the lcd. And seen a youtube where someone mistakenly separated them instead of the digitizer from the lcd. Do you have any connection to the digitizer when holding it above ?
