Since there doesn't appear to be specific drivers for your phone I would recommend installing koush's universal adb driver from here http://download.clockworkmod.com/test/UniversalAdbDriverSetup6.msi. After you install those drivers see if your computer recognizes your phone.

What root procedure are you using and what root procedures have you tried that have not worked or are causing problems for you? Additionally what version of Android is your phone running?
I've tried all apks that I can think of.plus bin4ry.there are a few of them I've tied plus superoneclick
.the bin4ry goes through the process and says all done but its not rooted superuser and busy box are installed but no root also the phone is on 4.1.1 jb.

If Superuser has been installed try going into the Superuser app then under the info tab tap the version number of Superuser and select the tap to check for updates option. It should after checking for updates show an update button tap the update button. After it has updated reboot the phone and see if this helps with your root problem. My other suggestion would be to download Root Checker Basic https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.joeykrim.rootcheck and see if that says your rooted.
Yes I just did that and also checked supersu. Root check say's both are installed but root check failed no such binary installed .and superuser and super su can't download binary

Another root exploit you could try using is the Motochopper root exploit which you can find more information about from here.
Yes well as I said I've tried just about everything and that was one of them lol.I might just have to wait till any devs gets hold of one and developes a root app.until then I'm going to keep having a go .there is more than likely something I haven't tried.

Okay, so I have tried every way of rooting my optimus v. The fastboot root , manual adn commands , superoneclick, but none of them work. I've followed every direction step by step.
When I use superoneclick and click shell root it gets to about the 5th line and reads pushing psneuter. Error

Gingerbreak worked for me...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044765
+1 for gingerbreak. just download it and run
adb install *file*
or on a mac:
./adb install *file
replace *file* with the Gingerbreak file name. To make it easy I just renamed it to 'gingerbreak.apk'
I couldn't get fastboot to work on a Windows xp machine either. I would suggest finding someone with a Windows 7 machine that you can use and try fastboot again. That worked out perfectly for me.
Thanks guys for the replies I've been stuck on this for two weeks. I'm going to try the gingerbreak and let you know how it goes.

Alright I used gingerbteak and it seems to have worked. I tried wireless tethering for root users and superusers permissions popped up, I said allow and it worked. Now what do I do lol? Did Gingerbreak install a custom recovery already so I can flash custom Rome? I'm not sure what to do now.

Ok I did. But aren't I supposed to have a custom recovery so I can do that manually, or do a nand backup?

Hi, sorry to thread hijack but I also have this tablet, now I'm new to the world of android and rooting. But I have tried Superoneclick and it either won't work or it freezes on step 2. I tried a japanesey program and that said success but checked with root checker and no luck, I also tried a package someone had put together and that gave me superuser but still root checker said no.
To get the drivers for my tablet I used Moborobo and it downloaded them automatically. I assume I put the device into recovery mode correctly hold down vol + plug in usb and press power 10 times and the android appears which has fallen over? Well I got this image anyways and tried again but the japanesey program didn't even recognise and superoneclick just froze again at the same point, step 2.
Is there anything you could suggest? Or anyone know a fool proof way of rooting these tablets. I am new so might need a little more explanation than most, I read something about using scripting and I have no idea where to even start with that.
Thanks in advance,
Mike
Good day everyone. So apparently I had the courage to root my device using clockwork mod using the i717 method. It was successful and I had superuser installed.
It couldn't get anymore worse. I attempted to install cyanogenmod and it failed. At the restore center (you hold down both volume rockers and the power button), it shows the android robot dead with a red exclamation mark when I attempted to install from a zip file. Fortunately, my phone was able to boot up without issues.
Just now, I installed a root checker app and it says that my phone is not properly rooted. Please, can anyone teach me how to unroot? I can jailbreak my itouch with no issues but this is very complex for me.
Sent from my GT-N7005 using xda premium
Just to clarify, when I open up the zip file of the rom I transferred to my device, it suddenly starts copying to an unknown place of my computer. After that, it would open up the zip file.

Odp: (Q) Help! How do I unroot my device?
flash stock rom via odin
Sent from my GT-S6500D using xda premium
Probably used wrong method. To unroot u just remove su if you want also rm superuser app. But the rest is not because of the root. Can you flash with odin?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Yes, I can flash using odin and I had just re-root my phone. The root checker now says that the phone is rooted.
Now the problems lie with the copying of rom zip files to my device. Whenever I tried to copy, it would stop around 3 quarter. When I try to open it up, it would start copying to a weird folder inside 'temp'.

The rom is cyanogenmod. But this problem is not about the rom. Instead, it relates more to the transferring of the zip file from the computer to my device.

It's okay. I had installed cyanogenmod through ROM manager and it's really cool!

you need fiddy's universal root from the sprint section. It'll work fine.
I already tried it. It keeps saying abd isnt a command or something like that. And when it did say it rooted it didnt install superuser. Amd it wasnt rooted either

The root method works, sounds like you need to educate yourself on how to use ADB correctly.

I have used it twice, and it took many tries before it worked. I just kept restarting current root bat. over and over until it worked.

Hey everyone, I had my LG Optimus rooted successfully using Motochopper but I ended up getting a update and it removed the root, I re-ran Motochopper like five times and not a single was successful so I'm assuming that update patched the exploit.
Is there anyway I can root it other than Motochopper or anyway I can get Motochopper to work again..?

Have you tried Cydia Impactor? someone on another forum reported working after the OTA update. BTW did you modify/deleted any system apps before applying the OTA?
No I haven't, I've been looking for alternatives for rooting but only Motochopper came up.
As for system modification no.
Sent from my LG-P659 using xda app-developers app
EDIT:
I quickly looked up a guide on that and attempted to do it.
I get this error(See attachment), not sure if there was a way to fix this or if it just simply isn't compatible.

Can you link to the guide or provide what step it's failing on? Note the part about having 'adb devices' able to detect the phone first when it's connected to the PC:
"If you are on Windows, you may have to install a device driver to talk to your device over USB. If your device is not detected, use Impactor's USB Driver Scan feature to attempt to automatically construct and install a driver for your device. You do not need the Android SDK."
Or come to this forum, the guy 'umar805' claimed he re-rooted after the OTA update using both Cydia Impactor and Kingo.
http://androidforums.com/metropcs-t...oot/803573-new-system-update.html#post6320053
Well I wasn't getting stuck first of all.. it says that after the attempt completes, basically all the guide said was to click start with
"# drop SuperSU SuperSU to /system/xbin/su" selected..
I have the drivers installed and when running "devices" command with adb it detects it.
I try Driver Scan with Cydia Impactor and it just says "No such device"

EDIT:
I tried Kingo and it seemed to have worked!, I have root access back so Kingo seems to work fine for it.
Kingo seems to be the easiest way to root any phone. I've heard of no cases where it doesn't work lol.

I have rooted successfully with Kingo. How do I delete unwanted bloatware? I can only delete the updates. Thanks.
I tried rooting my phone several times using KINGO and it always failed it says ConnectionUnstabitil
