Desperately need help rooting optimus v - Optimus One, P500, V General

Okay, so I have tried every way of rooting my optimus v. The fastboot root , manual adn commands , superoneclick, but none of them work. I've followed every direction step by step.
When I use superoneclick and click shell root it gets to about the 5th line and reads pushing psneuter. Error

Gingerbreak worked for me...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044765

+1 for gingerbreak. just download it and run
adb install *file*
or on a mac:
./adb install *file
replace *file* with the Gingerbreak file name. To make it easy I just renamed it to 'gingerbreak.apk'

I couldn't get fastboot to work on a Windows xp machine either. I would suggest finding someone with a Windows 7 machine that you can use and try fastboot again. That worked out perfectly for me.

Thanks guys for the replies I've been stuck on this for two weeks. I'm going to try the gingerbreak and let you know how it goes.

Alright I used gingerbteak and it seems to have worked. I tried wireless tethering for root users and superusers permissions popped up, I said allow and it worked. Now what do I do lol? Did Gingerbreak install a custom recovery already so I can flash custom Rome? I'm not sure what to do now.

Ok I did. But aren't I supposed to have a custom recovery so I can do that manually, or do a nand backup?

[Q] Recovery Mode

I have tenfars CWM recovery downloaded onto my phone but when ever i try to boot into recovery mod, nothing happens. When ever i run the app there is an orange loading circle in the middle of the screen. Not sure what to do but i need to get into recovery mode to flash gingerblur.
Are you plugged into AC?
Sent from my MB860 using XDA Premium App
You must plug into AC (usb wont do it)
Even when I plug into ac power nothing happens. The orange circle keeps spinning.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
You have to click install recovery THEN click recovery mode, with the AC charger plugged in. Just installing recovery won't work.

I did both of those and no response

Try to root again. It sounds like what happened to me the first time I tried and had missed a step in the rooting process.

I rooted with superoneclick because I wasn't sure how to do it with gingerbreak because adb commands confuse me. Ill try to figure it out but if that doesn't work then im not sure what's wrong.

I believe the recommended root methods are Gladroot or Gingerbreak. I seem to remember something about SuperOneClick being messy as it installs a second instance of busybox
The moderators should obliterate all mention of SuperOneClick. Seems like people still keep using it despite all the warnings not to...
Dimes on dollars says you aren't rooted. Superoneclick DOES install a second busybody and should avoided. If you are on 1.5.7, you cannot root with GladRoot until you sbf back to 1.2.6. You may, however, use Gingerbreak directly.
Well i couldn't unroot with superoneclick so I just rerooted with gingerbreak and then everything worked fine and I was successful in installing system recovery and gingerblur

I tap around the screen and nothing. I installed rom manager and tapped flash cwm recovery and went to reboot in cwm recovery and same thing. Any ideas?

You should flash Tenfar's new CWM as the old one isn't compatible with 2.3.4. The one in the Rom Manager is incomplete and not recommended for us yet.
You have the link or version number?

Nvm got it. Will try once I get to a comp. Just im having an issue with the market. Some apps once I hit download ill get an orange triangle in the notification bar. Anyone know what that is. Running the new market and it just started doing that since root and unlock

(Q) Help! How do I unroot my device?

Good day everyone. So apparently I had the courage to root my device using clockwork mod using the i717 method. It was successful and I had superuser installed.
It couldn't get anymore worse. I attempted to install cyanogenmod and it failed. At the restore center (you hold down both volume rockers and the power button), it shows the android robot dead with a red exclamation mark when I attempted to install from a zip file. Fortunately, my phone was able to boot up without issues.
Just now, I installed a root checker app and it says that my phone is not properly rooted. Please, can anyone teach me how to unroot? I can jailbreak my itouch with no issues but this is very complex for me.
Sent from my GT-N7005 using xda premium
Just to clarify, when I open up the zip file of the rom I transferred to my device, it suddenly starts copying to an unknown place of my computer. After that, it would open up the zip file.

Odp: (Q) Help! How do I unroot my device?
flash stock rom via odin
Sent from my GT-S6500D using xda premium
Probably used wrong method. To unroot u just remove su if you want also rm superuser app. But the rest is not because of the root. Can you flash with odin?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Yes, I can flash using odin and I had just re-root my phone. The root checker now says that the phone is rooted.
Now the problems lie with the copying of rom zip files to my device. Whenever I tried to copy, it would stop around 3 quarter. When I try to open it up, it would start copying to a weird folder inside 'temp'.

The rom is cyanogenmod. But this problem is not about the rom. Instead, it relates more to the transferring of the zip file from the computer to my device.
Sent from my GT-N7005 using xda premium
It's okay. I had installed cyanogenmod through ROM manager and it's really cool!

Since there doesn't appear to be specific drivers for your phone I would recommend installing koush's universal adb driver from here http://download.clockworkmod.com/test/UniversalAdbDriverSetup6.msi. After you install those drivers see if your computer recognizes your phone.

What root procedure are you using and what root procedures have you tried that have not worked or are causing problems for you? Additionally what version of Android is your phone running?
I've tried all apks that I can think of.plus bin4ry.there are a few of them I've tied plus superoneclick
.the bin4ry goes through the process and says all done but its not rooted superuser and busy box are installed but no root also the phone is on 4.1.1 jb.

If Superuser has been installed try going into the Superuser app then under the info tab tap the version number of Superuser and select the tap to check for updates option. It should after checking for updates show an update button tap the update button. After it has updated reboot the phone and see if this helps with your root problem. My other suggestion would be to download Root Checker Basic https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.joeykrim.rootcheck and see if that says your rooted.
Yes I just did that and also checked supersu. Root check say's both are installed but root check failed no such binary installed .and superuser and super su can't download binary

Another root exploit you could try using is the Motochopper root exploit which you can find more information about from here.
Yes well as I said I've tried just about everything and that was one of them lol.I might just have to wait till any devs gets hold of one and developes a root app.until then I'm going to keep having a go .there is more than likely something I haven't tried.

Did you have to pay for the app. The Release version is giving me Parse Error when I try to install it.

I just used the release version the other day to update my CWM. Try downloading the APK again, usually parse error means a bad file. Try a different browser to download it.
Flashify also works well...

Easiest and most stable/reliable way for.me is to use the terminal emulator to flash the recovery image. If you want directions tell me. Its super easy

1) move the recover image to the root of your internal sd card (use es file manager preferably)
2) rename the recovery image recovery.img
3) open terminal emulator
4) type su then hit enter
5) type flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img and hit enter
6) youre all done.
Thanks bro learned something new
