I tap around the screen and nothing. I installed rom manager and tapped flash cwm recovery and went to reboot in cwm recovery and same thing. Any ideas?

You should flash Tenfar's new CWM as the old one isn't compatible with 2.3.4. The one in the Rom Manager is incomplete and not recommended for us yet.

You have the link or version number?

Nvm got it. Will try once I get to a comp. Just im having an issue with the market. Some apps once I hit download ill get an orange triangle in the notification bar. Anyone know what that is. Running the new market and it just started doing that since root and unlock

You have unlocked the bootloader I suppose?

Only thing is I don't know how to get into /system/etc to find the install_recovery file. I got astro file manager and I don't think I can get into it

You need Root Explorer

That's the one you gotta pay for huh
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App

do i have to always use a cmd prompt on windows to load into CWM? cause when i reboot and do volume down key and pwr and do the android recovery i get the basic recovery not cwm. and if i use the rom manager it does the same.

((Q)) phone does not flash rom.

So I had nero 4.1
Went to flash ginger clone 2
Installed. But phone is stuck on bootloop
So I uzed odin to flash bak to stock
Everything went fine.
Bu not when I go to install the update.zip.... It doesnt seem to install it all the way.
Progression bar moves like a half an inch. Then says it installed.
I do have superuser w.e that **** is installed.
But when I go to flash a rom. It takes me to the "reinstall package screen" which tells me the update.zip did not install.
What can be wrong?
Ive gone bak to stock before. A d rooted again. No problem.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
it SOUNDS like you are trying to flash the ROM useing the stock recovery.....this is a no-no. heres what you do:
1. ODIN back to stock, just to start fresh
2. Root your device, i like to use OCLF app from the market
3. download/install "ROM Manager" from the market
4. Select "Flash Clockwork recovery" (select vibrant as your device)
5. You now have Clockwork setup to be your recovery menu. to access it, just boot into recovery like you usually do, select "reinstall packages"....this will boot you into clockwork everytime.
6. Clockwork is pretty user friendly, to flash your ROM just select "choose zip to install", find your ROM, and flash away! (DO NOT rename your ROM to "update.zip", this name must be reserved exclusively for clockwork recovery...so never rename anything to update.zip, and never delete your existing update.zip)
Now, if you are using Clockwork, it sounds like it may be a corrupt .zip. Redownload the ROM and try again (I would suggest downloading from a PC).
Ty for the quick reply.
Im on the road now so ill try it when I get home

thats what i use. download/install OCLF....select root device, when the script finishes, reboot into recovery. select reinstall packages. you are now rooted.....continue on with clockwork installation
Alright ima get on that.

Oclf doesnt have a root option?
The one from the market right?

do you mean it has it, but you arent able to use it? it should be the first or second option
------
if its there, but its not available to you, these means you are already rooted.....which is not possible if you ODINed back to stock...........if you need, i can give you the root update.zip to flash through recovery....basically all OCLF does is install the update.zip to your sdcard for you to flash through the stock recovery. then you flash it and it installs busybox and superuser, and youre rooted.
now once you download ROM manager and select "flash clockwork" it will install the clockwork update.zip to your sdcard (which obviously replaces the previous root update.zip, but you dont lose root).
so do you see how this works now?

[Q] Lost root after flashing alien rom

I flashed the alien rom last night and after I did that I wanted to flash the new theme so I went to the recovery mode but it wouldn't go so I went to check superuser and it said you do not have root. So my question is what do I have to do to get root back so I can flash the theme?
I don't know If it's the same for the atrix, but when I lose root on my inspire , I go into rom manager and flash superuser. Go to download rom and its in the extras tab
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA Premium App
Go to development and search for the root flashable zip for cwm. Its easy and it'll fix you right up. Happened to me
Sent from my MB860 using XDA Premium App
It wont let ne flash that superuser it wont let me go into recovery
Sent from my MB860 using XDA Premium App
I can't uninstall superuser I can't flash another version from rom manager or can't uninstall from root explorer cause it says you have to have root access to do so. So what do I do root it again on my computer using fastboot it will that be a problem
Sent from my MB860 using XDA Premium App
Same thing happened to me yesterday when I went from GB to Alien 4. Only way to fix it was to re-root the phone.
Works perfect now that I re-rooted and restored the apps/data with Titanium Backup.

Try downloading the su from the market, maybe the one saved to ur phone is outdated and not recognized. Worth a try.

Su is useless because they phone is not rooted.
Okay so then what?
I rooted my device and unlocked it and then used tenfar's recovery to boot into recovery and flash alien like its suppose to. Then I get to the home screen and I lost root (no surprise 2nd time) should I reroot and then install the theme. Because it looks like I have the rom on my phone.
Please help me!

did you reroot and then flash theme.zip?

Flash CWM from rom manager??

Is it possible to flash CWM from rom manager for the Photon and if so which model do you select??
I had the bootstrap on my phone which was from the x2, but I'm not sure if CWM will be the same or if Atrix would be better or if I'm barking up the wrong tree lol.
Basically I flashed a theme and now I have no settings so I can't setup my BT, WiFi, or even install an app on my sd card because I can't change any settings. And I can't flash a new rom/theme without the settings.
EDIT: So I flashed the Atrix recovery from rom manager since a google search said you could and then flash another. Once I did and tried to boot into recovery it said "failed to boot 2"
Do a factory reset through bootstrap. Happened to my buddy last night after applying a theme, he had no settings.
I restored the bootstrap by using titanium backup when I hit that snag last night
Or if you have an backup, you can take the settings app from it and place it in the system apps
LMAO, and why I didn't think of that I have no idea. I've had mybackup pro since I had my Evo over a year ago and use it religiously, until now that is lmao. I just backed it up before I flashed the new theme and didn't even think of that, good looking out guys thanks.
EDIT: Anyone know of another way to flash CWM without using ADB or SDK??
EDIT no. 2: installing from backup didnt work, it prompts me to go to settings because install from unknown sources is blocked and when I try to go to it I get a Force Close.
Is it possible to just put the settings.apk in the right folder with root explorer or something of that naturr?
Sent from my MB855 using XDA App
That's what i did, I put the settings apk in the zip and installed it and now everything is fine. Settings looks normal but its there
How did you install though? I cant get into my settings to enable install from unknown sources to allow the install

Why can't you factory reset, and then flash the latest stock build using rsd lite? You should have everything there. Just back your apps up in titanium and restore each one after.
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
Even doing factory reset using ##786# I couldn't get it to detect in rsdlite using rsd mode on my photon. I found out my rsdlite was an old version and I had a hell of a time finding the newer version (even the links I found on here were broken links) Once I got that I flashed the current sbf, then went about the pudding unlock steps and got it all done.

Rezound bootloader unlocked, now what?

I was using the all-in-one tool, successfully unlocked the bootloader, but stuck on the flash recovery part. Does flashing a recovery give root access? And if so, how do I do it? I started up fastboot in the bootloader, then hit the flash recovery option in the all-in-one root program. Command prompt comes up , phone reboots, and I still don't have root access. Any suggestions? Thanks!
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda app-developers app
Recovery is just a part of the phone that is separate from the OS that you use to manage your system. You can install new ROMs, wipe old ones, make backups, and more.
Flashing recovery does not give you root. You can get root in recovery.
Okay, how can I tell if the recovery is installed, and how do I use it to gain root access? Thanks

Shut down your phone. Take out the battery, and put it back in. Press power and volume down simultaneously until you see the white hboot screen. After the green lines disappear, use the volume buttons to highlight and press power to select "recovery".
Once there, in "other" you can install superuser. If that doesn't work you can flash a zip that is laying somewhere around the forums but I don't have it.
Okay! Now we are in business. Installed super user. Phone boots up fine, going to attempt some tethering. Thanks!

I just used the release version the other day to update my CWM. Try downloading the APK again, usually parse error means a bad file. Try a different browser to download it.

1) move the recover image to the root of your internal sd card (use es file manager preferably)
2) rename the recovery image recovery.img
3) open terminal emulator
4) type su then hit enter
5) type flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img and hit enter
6) youre all done.
Thanks bro learned something new
