Did you have to pay for the app. The Release version is giving me Parse Error when I try to install it.

I just used the release version the other day to update my CWM. Try downloading the APK again, usually parse error means a bad file. Try a different browser to download it.

Flashify also works well...

The free one from XDA worked fine for me. Just retried it and it worked.

Easiest and most stable/reliable way for.me is to use the terminal emulator to flash the recovery image. If you want directions tell me. Its super easy

1) move the recover image to the root of your internal sd card (use es file manager preferably)
2) rename the recovery image recovery.img
3) open terminal emulator
4) type su then hit enter
5) type flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img and hit enter
6) youre all done.

Thanks bro learned something new

Ok so when I had stock 1.83 I used the native recovery app to flash the leaked ota of gingerbread. And ever since when I try to go back to it, it'll just sit with the ! And little android dude. I tap around the screen and nothing. I installed rom manager and tapped flash cwm recovery and went to reboot in cwm recovery and same thing. Any ideas?

You should flash Tenfar's new CWM as the old one isn't compatible with 2.3.4. The one in the Rom Manager is incomplete and not recommended for us yet.
You have the link or version number?

Only thing is I don't know how to get into /system/etc to find the install_recovery file. I got astro file manager and I don't think I can get into it

do i have to always use a cmd prompt on windows to load into CWM? cause when i reboot and do volume down key and pwr and do the android recovery i get the basic recovery not cwm. and if i use the rom manager it does the same.

Rezound bootloader unlocked, now what?

I was using the all-in-one tool, successfully unlocked the bootloader, but stuck on the flash recovery part. Does flashing a recovery give root access? And if so, how do I do it? I started up fastboot in the bootloader, then hit the flash recovery option in the all-in-one root program. Command prompt comes up , phone reboots, and I still don't have root access. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Recovery is just a part of the phone that is separate from the OS that you use to manage your system. You can install new ROMs, wipe old ones, make backups, and more.
Flashing recovery does not give you root. You can get root in recovery.
Okay, how can I tell if the recovery is installed, and how do I use it to gain root access? Thanks

Shut down your phone. Take out the battery, and put it back in. Press power and volume down simultaneously until you see the white hboot screen. After the green lines disappear, use the volume buttons to highlight and press power to select "recovery".
Once there, in "other" you can install superuser. If that doesn't work you can flash a zip that is laying somewhere around the forums but I don't have it.
Okay! Now we are in business. Installed super user. Phone boots up fine, going to attempt some tethering. Thanks!

Superuser is installed and updated, but I don't seen to have root access. Any thoughts?

No dice. Should I flash a different recovery? Try and install superuser again?

The only other recovery is TWRP, and it doesn't have a rooting option.

if your s-on you forgot to take the boot.img from the rom and flash it via fastboot
Edit: Only use boot.img from the rom your gonna install....make sure you read proper method in first few posts from developer as there is instructions to make your phone work properly
Yes, you need to flash the boot image if you are S-ON...
But save the headaches and don't even bother flashing a ROM from your installed recovery (you really don't even need to install a custom recovery at all), all you need is the "recovery.img" from the recovery ZIP file of choice, although I currently recommend TWRP, in your adb directory and the ROM on your SD card then...
1) Reboot into Hboot and start Fastboot, connect PC
2) Type "fastboot boot recovery.img" and wait a minute for the Recovery to start on the phone
3) Wipe as per normal for installing a ROM
4) Install/Flash ROM zip as per normal
5) Reboot and enjoy!

It's worth going S-Off if you are going to flash very often at all... makes it so much easier to just flash one file and done.
It seems scary, but if you follow the instructions, it's not bad at all. I've done it twice now.
Also, you will have to flash a stock rom first (it's been done on other rom's, but ymmv... its safest to go stock before s-off).

You can do it from custom roms too, from what I've seen, but since you are stock, that is perfect

Unable to flash custom recovery after root

I was messing around and had a soft brick so I odin'd back to stock rom and got everything running and got root up and running. No matter how I do it I can NOT get a custom recovery to install. I tried Goo Manager which never actually downloads the file. I found the .tar file to install manually via Odin and it says it fails. I even tried clockwork mod to install clockwork recovery and it just boots me to the stock recovery. Anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this?

Yeah it basically says once you have root access you can use Goo Manger or Clockwork Mod to install the pre Loki'd recovery. Neither one of those 2 work though it just says it does and then takes me back to the stock recovery.

Install the all in one root and recovery tool for mdk...since you are already rooted you can skip that step...select the prep for recovery option...it will clean up and get rid of things that interfere with custom recovery and then select install either oudhs or twrp...these will allow you to flash updated cwm/twrp versions which I recommend to ensure proper flashing of newer roms...once one of these is installed you can always use rom manager or goo manager or the others to update...but I believe the prep for recovery step is crucial in having a functional custom recovery

Why dont you try to look for custom recovery thats suits your device manually and flash it using recovery tool app. You can get it in playstore

Our devices are quirky... Some will do just fine just randomly flashing recovery...others just won't behave without going through the prep for recovery step...I know I flashed stock with Odin once before rooted again and had the same problems getting custom recovery setup...used the same steps to fix it then too...I would recommend these for anyone having issues with recovery install

Stock Recovery

I'm on stock, non-rooted LCA43 with TWRP installed. I'd like to fastboot stock recovery, and relock boatload so I can sell this device and upgrade. Problem, I'm struggling to find stock recovery.
Anyone have it handy?
Thanks in advance!

Can't get them to work. Side load in TWRP won't recognize my watch. ADB works fine when booted into the OS, and fastboot recognizes the device. It would be so much simpler to just fastboot the files, then fight with TWRP and ABD. I have a copy of the OTA, not sure what files to pull from it to flash. I know that commands, just need the right files. Thanks though!
