I recently flashed Clean 1.2 and that's when this started. I use these apps often, so I know it wasn't an issue until I changed roms. Not getting any assistance in the rom thread. Wondering if anyone has seen this.
I am using ADW. I switched back to stock TW and I get the same view in the apps on TW, so it's not the launcher causing this..I have reinstalled the apps and it still happens.
Here is SQLite
This is File Copy
I believe it's caused by modified touchwiz launcher such as the 5x6 format instead of the stock 4x4 format.
No idea how to fix other than going back to the stock config'd launcher.

Hi All,
as you may see, I'm new to XDA and even though I'm familiar with linux, I'm new to the whole Android thing. I successfully flashed VillainROM onto my SGA and noticed that I don't like the stock gingerbread launcher. So I tried to get any TouchWiz-Style launcher on my phone:
I tried the "TouchWiz Launcher for Gingerbread [V4]":
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1049501
I had to replace the "update-binary", but finally it doesn't match the screen size of the sga and moreover it always crashes when I'm trying to start any app.
I also tried the "Honeycomb" theme:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1104335
Some icons and the general menu style changed, but the launcher didn't change - could that be because I couldn't figure out how to install that "minimal.zip"-file?
I somewhere grabbed "TW4_for_Tab - 182dpi.zip" of which I thought it was made for the sga, but it failed to install.
Besides, I tried some other TouchWiz (4) mods of which I can't find the reference anymore. Some of them didn't install (the well-known "error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip") even with a replaced "update-binary", so that wasn't a success either.
I figured out how to mount the unmodified 2.3.3 Samsung-ROM and could access the TouchWiz30Launcher.apk - but I didn't try to move it to my system folder because it isn't de-odexed - is it a problem to put a non-de-odexed apk (and it's .odex) onto a generally de-odexed phone?
Now I'd like to know if there is any easily usable TouchWiz I could use. Some enhanced version of TouchWiz with additional features would be nice, but I think I would also be satisfied with the unmodded Samsung TouchWiz.
Thanks in advance!
I am running the stock official GB Rom for my Atrix model. It is rooted and the bootloader is unlocked.
Quite after every reboot it happens that all the widgets fail to load and the message "Problem loading widget" is displayed.
This happens both with ADW Launcher EX and Go Launcher EX.
I tried to repair the permissions from the Recovery. It did not fix the problem.
Any suggestions, please?
Are you using a ROM?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I gave up running Faux kernels because of this problem. I could not find a way around it (fix permissions and certain re-unlock steps work for some people). What kernel are you running?
I wish there was a way around it for me. Between widget problems and webtop status bar issues I have not found a kernel that would work other than the stock one.
I forgot that I am using faux kernel, too! Can this really be the problem?

Yes, sir...if you flash the stock kernel the widget problems should go away. Some people have the widget problem and some don't. It goes away for some and it doesn't for others. I tried everything. Rom manager fix permissions, etc. Every time I used a Faux kernel my widget problems came back. Sometimes immediately, sometimes a few days later. I have never seen the "problem loading widget" error message on the stock kernel. Not ever....
Use ROM Manager to fix permissions (fixes issue in most cases). This is a very old problem. Simple search would have answered your question.

Besides repairing the permissions from the recovery, I also tried to fix them with Rom Manager, too.
Unfortunately, it did not fix the problem.
Update: it seems so much strange that a kernel could cause such problems. I read somewhere that the "problem loading widget" message usually appears when the widget is not able to load some resources. It smells like a permissions problem, of course.
Update 2: I also am no more able to fix permissions through rom manager, it gives me a generic error
Sorry for the bump but after reading some replies, I understand that I have not made myself clear.
Problem:
After a Reboot, the widgets display a "Error loading widget" message
Contexts:
Stock ROM, rooted and unlocked, Faux Kernel, ADW Launcher EX, Go Launcher EX
NottachTrix 1.2.2, stock kernel + ram fix, ADW Launcher EX, Go Launcher EX
Tried Solutions:
Fix permissions from Recovery
Fix permissions from Rom Manager

I used to get this exact same thing happening. Fix Permissions in CWM for some reason isn't as good as doing it from ROM Manager, then rebooting. This always worked for me, and it was the only semi-perma solution which ever surfaced as far as I know, other than going back to a stock kernel. I too use ADW-EX.

I (sort of) solved it: it was probably caused by Titanium Backup.
Even if the applications were not on the SD-card, there was something wrong with them (permissions, I guess) and the permissions utilities were not able to fix them.
Therefore, I re-installed the ROM and tried to install the applications from the Market instead of restoring them from TBA. Everything works now.
Thank you all for the suggestions, in any case!
Make sure whichever launcher you are using is not on the SD card. I had the same problem with go launcher as soon as I moved it to my SD. I moved it back to phone and haven't had the problem since.
Hi guys,
I am trying to create an update.zip, with stuffs from TheManii's 408 deodexed package. Since I decided that my phone won't contain any useless stock app, I decided to remove GoogleQuickSearch.apk, also use ADWLauncher as my default desktop replacement.
The problem is, my update.zip can be flashed successfully using CWM, but ADW reports "Problem loading widget" in its default screen, since GoogleQuickSearch is not there.
Could you please let me know how to adjust default ROM widget settings (e.g. I guess that there should be some settings some where that helps me removing GoogleQuickSearch from launcher by default).

cái rom đấy tác giả xóa widget mặc đinh đi rồi hay sao ấy
Remove the broken widget and manually place a new one, this isnt specific to any launcher.
Any time it tries to load a widget that's not there/frozen you might have to place a fresh one if it doesnt fix itself when it should otherwise.
TheManii,
Yes, I know that the issue is not specific for any launcher. What I meant was, I do not want QuickSearch, so how to get rid of the error message when I remove it?
Is there any place in the ROM I could edit (e.g. a configuration file) so that Venue/ROM/launcher realizes that I do not want the widget to be loaded?
It should be possible, but also keep in mind that there's no hard, standardized layout for their config files. Each launcher could store the widget settings in their own manner and there's many different launchers.
Perhaps you should consider asking your launcher maker to add a setting to automatically remove uninstalled widgets, but from a user perspective your only real choice is to manually remove them.
I've tried a couple customs ROMS on my p4wifi, and in every case, I've had an issue with trebuchet, the CM launcher, failing. sometimes immediately, sometimes after a while. my most recent attempt was with the cm-10.1-20130117-0012-p4wifi-sgt7-gcc47.zip ROM, where I was able to operate for a little more than an hour before trebuchet failed.
in that most recent attempt, I was able to see that trebuchet forgot the grid size settings (originally 9x7, I think), and would show no numbers in the grid size height & width spinners, showing a 0 underneath. I could not spin them to a valid number, however, and shortly thereafter, trebuchet went into the repeated failed pop-up message.
luckily, I had backed-up my system and could restore back to my TouchWiz ICS image (though the back-up file being pushed into a 0/ folder is a pain, had to first re-image with CM 10.1 again, and use the file manager app to move the back-up files to a folder that nandroid would see.)
is anyone else having these problems with trebuchet when using CM 10 or 10.1 ROMs? I see posts from people saying their SGTs are running great with a number of these ROMs, so clearly it's working for them. where could I post bug reports for trebuchet? (here, but on the development forum?)
if I loaded an alternate launcher, would trebuchet failing not be an issue?
thanks.

I've loaded pershoot's latest 10.1 (JB) ROM, and loaded Nova Launcher, and it's running just fine!
As there don't seem to be any dev projects getting anywhere soon for the EU version.
Would it be possible to remove Sense for this phone and install a new launcher over the top (Apex or similar) (I am aware that I can just install a launcher, but I don't have the space on my phone, and I find it creates a very slow phone adding new layers)
So essentially make it senseless and completely mod my phone front end.

I got rid of most of the sense stuff but you do need to be careful... best thing to do is to use either root toolbox pro or titanium backup to freeze each app individually then if theres no problem you can delete them from your phone.. only problem I had was that on the original software all the stuff i deleted just reinstalled when the phone reset... but using deodexed version of eu gave me more freedom...
another problem can be that some launchers wont work when you convert them to system apps...
