Hey Roland.
I would suggest going to my thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1719104 to see how to install a custom boot animation 3 simple and different ways, as that other thread seems pretty confusing, and one method demonstrated asks the user to download the Android SDK!
We are all on rooted devices, so let's keep it simple!

Thank you so much for these they all look great! :good: Now question, any way you can make one that has some sort of Android with TouchPad symbols together? Make sense? I would love to show my "pride" of Android and my HP TouchPad.
Thanks again!

Hi yes it should be possible to install these boot animations onto your phone however they might not play totally full screen. A lot of them are set to a resolution of 1024x768 but you can repackage them and set them to fit the res of your phone. Use this tool to modify my animations to better suit your screen size. Unzip any of my animations and then follow the instructions for this app, it will zip them up again and you just need to set an appropriate res for your phone. Have fun:highfive:

Nice work guys! I'll post the bootanimations I've been porting once I've tested all of them (over 30 of em now). Glad to see I'm not the only one playing with graphics here
BTW I'm putting together a thread for all UI/theme mods over the next couple days so if either of you has anything you'd like to add let me know.

Flyer Tester Needed!
Ok, we are in need of someone with a Flyer to test the boot animation installer that we have. Could a Flyer owner download one of the boot animations and let us know if everything works out alright?
Yeah ill give it a go when I get back to my pc. As long as it sends the bootanimaton.zip to /data/local it should work fine i think.

Hi All!
Well I have finally created my first boot animation for the Droid DNA! Hopefully it's the first of many. Feel free to provide feedback and make suggestions.
NOTES:
- I have tested this on Hatka DNA 2.6.0 and Viper 1.0.1. Most Sense based ROMs should act the same.
- I know the file size is a little larger than normal 80mb vs 12mb) on the Drift animation, but i kept the quality high, and it is video rather than animated graphic. I'm going to work on getting file sizes smaller on future animations.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
- Copy to your device
- Use a root explorer (I use ES File Manager) to navigate to /system/customize/resource/
- Rename the current boot animation file by changing the file extension from .zip to .bak or .old
** HATKA DNA: boot animation file is vzw_bootup.zip
** VIPER ROM: boot animation file is bootanimation.zip
- Copy/paste the downloaded boot animation file into the /system/customize/resource/ folder
- Open the File properties and make sure Group and Other have Read permissions (rw- r-- r--)
- Reboot and enjoy

I sent a note over to the original artist (big305) asking for permission to port. Once he gives me the approval (hopefully) I should be able to port it over fairly easily.
Thanks for the request!
I finally got another animation done... It was a busy weekend. World War Z Boot Ani is now available in the OP.

Boot Animation #3 is updated in the OP. I found this Mario POV video on youtube and thought it would be a cool boot ani.
Again I'll say that the quality of the boot ani is better than the preview.
Just added #4... Roller Coaster Boot Animation.
Yup.... Number 5 added. This one is more specifically for the Droid DNA.
Enjoy!

Actually yeah.... He said I can use it no problem... the only issue now is that I cannot find a working link to download it. I am going to reach back out to get a copy of the existing boot ani so that I can port it over.
Unless you happen to have a copy of the boot ani that you could provide... that would probably save some time.

Here are some answers:
1. Your warranty was void when the bootloader was unlocked (btw this requires root)
2. You can't mess up your device to the point of no return.
3. Yes it can be converted back....
For example
If you're running Hatka then the current boot animation is /system/customize/resource/vzwbootup.zip. Step 3 tells you to rename that file, so you would rename it vzwbootup (old).zip, or vzwbootup.old... basically anything that you will remember you changed it to.
Now if you want to change it back you would just delete the custom boot animation and rename your old file back back to vzwbootup.zip.
I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Let me know what y'all think.
I just added a port of Call of Android to the OP.... this is probably my favorite boot animation of all time. I ran it on my Thunderbolt forever... and now I get to run it on my DNA (and so can you).
Good stuff....
thanks man :good: :fingers-crossed:
Hello! I made a boot animation for my phone and figured I'd adapt it to my tablet. I hate how all the other boot animations are complicated and/or ugly. This one is quite simple and easy on the eyes.
To install, drop bootanimation.zip into /data/local/ (not flashable) using ES File Explorer (make sure you give it root privileges). The Adobe Flash .fla files are in the "Source" link, if you have Flash CS6 and would like to play around with them.
Version 1.1 (1149K), Preview, Source, old version (1547K)
Version 1.1 differs from version 1 in that it is optimized with pngcrush to make the file size smaller. There is no other difference.
Version 2 (525K), Preview, Source
Version 2 is further optimized for size. The animation is more subtle and the resolution has been reduced (keeps the same size since most of it is black space). Note that the preview doesn't have all the black space in it so it'll be much smaller on your screen.
i like it. nice job :good:
So far this is my favorite bootanimation. Thanks, OP.

Thank you, it's been a while since I worked on this so I just updated. You might want to grab the new version 1 or version 2. File size is reduced to make it load smoother the first time around.

Update:-
Version 2 works wonderfully! Tyvm to OP.
Nice boot animation dude can u create a shutdown animation too with with text " shutting Down" ??
Here is the link. Thanks AbhishekS
The above Boot Animation happens to be an Android KitKat “Easter Egg” Boot Animation, which is my current running theme, I tend to update these Boot Animations regularly when I find something that stands out, 2 weeks ago I had a Android Tribute to Sochi Winter Olympic Games which can still be downloaded.
The Boot Animations featured here in this thread are NON-FLASHABLE, that is they cannot be installed through custom Recovery. They are however, installed manually and I will explain in detail how this is done. These Boot Animations run on QMG file format which are located in your Samsung’s system/media file. Inside your system/media file there are 3 files that I use:
1) BootSamsung.qmg-> This is a rather large file that holds the main Boot Animation, it does not loop.
2) BootSamsungLoop.qmg-> This is the smallest of the 3 files, it normally loops, but not always, it can also be inconsistent and run continuously or end abruptly. Begins immediately after the BootSamsung.qmg often without a sequence, screen may dim as it runs.
3) ShutDown.qmg-> This is an important one, as it plays a Boot Animation as the device “Powers Off and Restarts”, restart is the key word, as Power off will not play a ShutDown. Tends to hold on the last image before device reboots.
While the above are the 3 files in the system/media file there is 1 more file that I use that is found in the system/media/audio/ui:
1) PowerOn.ogg-> This is a sound file that is typically 18-20 seconds that plays music during the BootSamsung.qmg & BootSamsungLoop.qmg, before turning off prior to reaching the Lockscreen.
Boot Animation Sound can be controlled under System Volume.
First, things first when you may be more familiar with these QMG files than you know. When your device was new, unboxed, setup, before Root and Unlock. These QMG files were already on your device. If you have Flashed a Bootanimation.zip, YOU MUST REMOVE IT in order to install these Boot Animation QMG files as 2 Boot Animations will not run at the same time and the Bootanimation.zip is set to run as the MAIN Boot Animation.
To move forward, I suggest to either “move” or “delete” the existing bootanimation.zip file. If you are unsure where the bootanimation.zip file is it would be in your system/media folder. As look around for the “bootsamsungloop.qmg” and the “shutdown.qmg” if they are there go ahead and “delete” them. Go into system/media/audio/ui and look for the “PowerOn.ogg” and delete this file as well. See my example of the bootanimation.zip in the system/media folder below.
Once, this is complete and/or if you have never flashed a bootanimation.zip, the next step-> select a Boot Animation that you would like to try and download. Can either move the extracted files to your device or extract the files to a folder on your device and move them to the appropriate folder.
+++ KEEP IN MIND +++ If you just removed your bootanimation.zip whether it was deleted or moved, when you reboot, your system is going to expect it to be there. When rebooting if your device reboots into Recovery a simple Battery Pull or Reboot will be enough to get the new QMG Boot Animations to turn on.
Remember:
bootsamsung.qmg, bootsamsungloop.qmg, shutdown.qmg-> system/media
PowerOn.ogg-> system/media/audio/ui
Change the Permissions to RW-R-R (as displayed below)
As a note: I tend to suggest using the “T” ie “Sticky” Special Permission setting on the QMG files, as I use variable speeds, max file settings, and play is smoother.
A few things to keep in mind.
A custom Bootanimation works best with a custom ROM, it simply does, Stock ROMs do not finish the same.
There may be a delay between the loading of the Bootanimation and after the Recovery Logo loading screen appears.
QMG files are governed by Samsung Theme Designer, which means there are limits however, limits can be pushed to create the best results.
Bootanimation’s require the use of both bootsamsung.qmg and bootsamsungloop.qmg (using one without the other will produce undesirable results.)
I am always looking for new creations to add to the collection, any suggestions, any posts with work provided credit will be given.
Feel free to see if these Boot Animations on other Samsung Device’s and Tablet’s at your Own Risk.
Please, give credit where due, there are many Bootanimations here, if I left someone out please let me know, if you want to post my work, please extend the courtesy.
With so many Bootanimations it is often hard to remember all of the sources that I pulled them from, the largest source Developer that does simply incredible work and is simply known throughout the Android community for his work is JaeKarr99 which most of the Bootanimations that appear in this LiBRaRy KoLLecTioN are his, I have simply accepted the challenge of using a difficult themeing system and configured it the best I can to keep these Bootanimations in the best form possible. This was done through the guidance of xessus as his walkthroughs and many many countless hours of attempting this work is hopefully showing a positive. Other themers I will mention are Crakanug with the Black Ops II Bootanimation, PartimusPrime, CyanogenMod with CM, BKJolly, and the many others, if I fail to recognize I apologize it is not intentional nor out of disrespect, please forgive me.
Go ahead and Reboot the device. You are all done. Enjoy!
Let the FUN BeGiN! :good::good::good:
This is a LiBRARY KoLLeCTioN of BooTaNiMATioNs

As long as you are running a custom ROM, you should be in good shape. Make sure that after you extract the QMG and OGG files to move the .QMG files to -> system/media and the .OGG file should be moved to -> system/media/audio/ui . The QMG files I recommend setting the permissions to rw-r-r-T and the .OGG should be rw-r-r, see the OP for details and screen shots of what this should look like.
As for my favs that play sound-> 1) Knight Rider, 2) Pink Floyd Android, 3) Marvel - Thor: The Dark World. There are others that have sound but these are my Top 3. :good:
I am having some issues and in need of some assistance. Background: Rom is freeza's stockish deodexed NABD 4.4.2. Bootloader is NAB Engineering bootloader. Recovery is TWRP 2.6.3.6. Now onto my problem. I can't get the boot animations to stick. I've tried several different ones and the stock animation comes back after a reboot, cold boot, or a battery pull. Steps I used are as follows (using root file explorer)
1. Download zip file.
2. Extract using root file explorer
3. Copy extracted files
4. Paste/replace existing files in system media
5. Change permissions as per directions.
6. Close file explorer
7. Tried reboot, turning off, and battery pull. Original boot animation still showing.
I changed the boot sound without a problem, but the animation sticks. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: Updated to TWRP 2.7

Nice write up. Check the system/media file to see if the bootanimation.zip file is there. If it is delete it, then follow steps 3 to finish.

Thank you for your help. Oh and I also tried to delete the qmg files rather than replace them and that was a no go.

Thanks for the reply but no luck . i dont have such files in this rom (Resurreccion Remix 4.4.2) . Have changed the bootanimation.zip to mine (xpstartupscreen =awesome )but theres no sound files to replace such as PowerOn.ogg or android_audio.mp3 . Remember running the JB version of this ROM and not having boot sound and the switching to Alliance and all worked there. Perhaps this ROM hasnt got the necessary files to have bootsound.
Had a look around and found the sh bootsnd.sh file here on xda.installed it via terminal but didnt do anything
Have BootAnimation Factory so its easy to create the stuff but some of the bootanims better with sound.
Did make some for JB but ive deleted them by mistake.
Ill keep looking for the sound

Looks like this survived the clear out. Alienware boot and 2 sound files. Might have to adjust the speed of the bootanimation to match up nicelywith the sound. Cant test it on my phone . Enjoy!

Well, it appears that there is a work-around for this. I'm attaching a link below which happens to be a clean media file. I'm still looking into the ROMs from other carriers outside of Sprint to see if they contain the same files in the existing "media" folder that appear to be interfering with the Boot Animation QMG's from this collection, which I hope to have this information soon.
media file download link
Anyhow, the work-around is to download the "media" file, which this one does not contain any working boot animation or shutdown or PowerOn.ogg files in it, once it is downloaded I suggest adding your favorite Boot Animation QMG file from this thread-> qmg files go to the media folder and the PowerOn.ogg goes to the media/audio/ui folder, once complete move this "media" file to your SD card. Then go into your device, go into / system and remove the existing "media" file (move it somewhere to your SD card.) Take the new media file and paste it or move it to the / system file set the permissions to rwxr-xr-x, then open the media folder, check to make sure all files are set to the permission of rw-r-r and that all folders are set to rwxr-xr-x, once this is all done go ahead and reboot, if the device does not reload properly do a battery pull and all should be good. :good:
Hello Guys!
I have been working a lot fixing the bugs and the incorrect fonts of the boot animation of the Android BIOS I made.
I apologize for the inconvenience caused.
Many of you loved it though but due to incorrect font it many were disappointed.
Well I have made it a LOT better
Now you can enjoy two bootanimations mixed!
Thanks to @tj_droid for allowing me to port his watchdogs bootanimation into mine.
I have made it a lot better and great for you all
I have made many changes and most importantly fixed the FONT ISSUE!
NOW ENJOY the HD BIOS bootanimation
I have provided 7 screenshots of how the boot animation looks like. Many asked for original one not to be altered so didn't do much change in that but there is much more you can imagine Don't make me kill the suspence Check it out NOW!
Warning Before flashing this zip manually backup your stock bootanimation by going to root directory of your phone via root explorer then go to /system/media and there you will find your current bootanimation.zip file. Just copy it and save it someplace safe in case you want to go back to your stock animation.
I loved your boot animation. How do I install it?
Another great news is that from now on ALL OF MY BOOTANIMATIONS WILL BE FLASHABLE zip's
Just download the bootanimation from the link I provided and then boot into CWM or TWRP locate the file you downloaded and then flash it
Simple no
CHANGELOG V 2.0
Code:
Added new bootanimation screen
Fixed the FONT ERROR
Made the zip Flashable, now no need to do any crappy stuff's like downloading any software to install or locating bootanimation file manually and replacing it. ;)
Now the next thing I want to do is add sound in it But don't have any good sound clips matching this boot animation
If you have any ideas/file to share then please share a mp3 sound file of not more than 30-32 secs
Here is the download link : https://app.box.com/s/fchf9vkeoy4wg7u0q7b5
If you liked it then don't be shy from hitting thanks
EDIT : Please do leave a reply, your opinion it's must..!
Great improvement from the first boot animation! Can really see the change in graphics!

Font fixed? Nope... Still wrong! Everything should be in the font "fixedsys"
The whole idea of the BIOS boot screen you based yourself on is to keep it as original as possible, without all the "bling bling" that you have added.
The original is nice to add a nostalgic touch to your phone. This one just looks amateuristic and non-coherent.
This is how it should look like...
Proper version is attached for those who like the original end 90's - early 2000 look.
You gotta learn dude. I don't copy the bootanimations.
Original 90's is my base if Ii could have wanted I could make this old crap to b in work.
My main aim is to keep the original as BASE and modify it to as better as I can!
Hope you understood.
Creating every frame and designing it takes crap out of you! If you made this original bootanimation then comment here don't just show off on "someone else's" creation

If you had thoroughly looked at the file I attached you would have seen that every frame has been modified!
Totally different from the original file. Not only dimension wise but the text aswell.
And atleast mine has the correct font, unlike what you claim to have...
I was trying to help you when posting mine in your previous thread. Even now, I mentioned the name of the font once again.
Very nice bootanimaton my problem is only showing 4.3 OS when i have 4.4.4
Haha sorry I actually run 4.3 so I made it 4.3
Anyways thanks for your suggestion next of this bootanimation would be 4.4
Hit thanks if u liked this bootanimation
Did you make this bootanimation? If yes then you keep the authoritiy to say you own this. I created this bootanimation and I kept my own font which I preferred. If you want to share your bootanimation start a new thread don't do that here
