I got my Motorola Razr Maxx a few weeks ago. 1 of the main reasons to buy the phone was the huge battery. A good friend of mine has the Razr Maxx aswell and is getting very, very nice battery life with some small tweaks like disabling wifi.
Unfortunatly my Razr Maxx its battery life isnt that great. I do not use the phone a lot. Only a few SMS / Whatsapp messages a day but even during a night the phone loses 10% battery. So for some my battery use may look "good", I believe for my minimal use its quite bad...
My settings: I am running JB, this release. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2231289 My friend is running the exact same software. When I installed the software I did a factory reset aswell
G3/G4 disabled (set to only G2)
Wifi off (Only enable it when needed)
GPS disabled
Autosync disabled
BlueTooth disabled
SmartActions, Google Now and other apps wich will eat battery are uninstalled. We have compared the 2 phones but cant really find a difference in settings. I noted some people upload screenshots, please few mine below:
Can anybody point me in the right direction to resolve this problem? The 10% battery loss in 1 night with only G2 enabled shows something is wrong when the phone is not doing anything I think but I don't understand what's the problem.

How did you make custom carrier name?
Sent from my XT910 using xda premium
I never changed anything about the carrier name. This is default with the software/firmware I used. However: I use the Dutch telecom provider "Hi".
And I understand for most users the 2 days seems quite good but a friend of mine has the same phone, uses it more often and gets his phone at 30% after 4 days and 16 hours.
Keep in mind: we are not browsing websites, facebook or anyting with it. I only use the phone for SMS / WhatsApp and a few minor other things.
And please also mention the 10% drop in 1 night of sleep (6-8hrs). That can't be normal?
I know it's not normal, but from WLD screens I can't notice nothing abnormal, that's the strange thing...

Honestly i don't see any problem at all. Believe me, 4 days and 16 hours, he doesn't do anything with his phone just take few calls.
uhmm did you buy a brand new cellphone or a used one? because if is an used one may be that's the problem the battery doesn't have the same peformance

Thats the problem I'm using the phone even less and get worse battery life.
The phone is brand new, bought it on Amazone.
A few ideas.
- My old sim-card did not fit in the slot. The phone shop used a special tool to modify my sim-card so it does fit. It works perfectly, but could the older simcard cause this problem?
- I suspect my house is located in the center of 2-3 cell towers. Is there any way to monitor the phone switching or searching the cell towers?
Changed the simcard, no results. Same battery use.
I was just wondering, is there any way to disable "Cell Broadcasting"? I can not find the option anywhere. Or is this not available in the firmware I am using?

Hello. I have tried searching on two forums and googled this but I cant find exactly what I am looking for {and need to get back to work!} so I apologize if this has been answered already.
Anyway, about two weeks ago my boyfriend bought a Vibrant from Walmart and his battery warning comes up when it is at 20%, not allowing him to watch movies and take pictures, etc.
I just bought a Vibrant from the tmobile store yesterday and it allows me to do everything until it got to a battery life of 1%.
I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else?(At what percentage does your battery warning pop-up?)
Is there something wrong with the Walmart phones?
Is there any way to fix his so it is like mine? Does he need a new battery?
Any suggestions or answers would be most helpful.

Where you bought it shouldn't make a difference. More than likely they have a different build date with probably different versions of the 2.1 software.
It doesn't matter where you bought it. Are the build numbers the same? Do you both have myaccount installed and if so have you turned the battery notification off or any other program like that installed?

The one without the pop-up warning probably looks like this:

The other one probably says something different there, where this one says T959UVJI6.
JI6 is the newer version, so the other one needs to be updated.

I checked his phone, the versions are the same as what you posted and mine. Its very puzzling why there would be a difference since we bought them only a few weeks apart. Thanks for your help. Any more suggestions would be wonderful.
More then likely its a defective phone. Just exchange it.

This is the first time I havr heard about a stock vibrant being able to take pics or watch movies at 1% battery. Sounds like yours is defective and your boyfriends works fine.
every stock vibrant ive used, usually at around 15percent battery life fails to play avatar or take pics.
Ps you can dial into the dialer *#*#4636#*#* then click on battery info and it will give you more accurate battery stats than just looking at the indicator in the notification bar.
Battery time lite. It will let you set warning times. Extends battery.

Wow! That would be funny if mine truly is defective that it allows me to go to 1%. But it is true because I purposely ran my battery dry and checked it at every interval after it hit 20% and I could still do everything. I have yet allowed it to get it that low since, but I will try it again.
I will check out battery time lite.. thank you!

This solution sounds a bit "Apple style"... It's not that the battery sucks, it's that you're using your phone the wrong way
Now being serious, if I wanted a normal phone, I'd still use my Nokia 2690.

But wats the use of keeping the battery draining simply for 4 days?? U neither used the phone itself.. We enjoy the phone and battery drains..r we the only android users who face battery problem? Nope many r there.. Mine is quite simple use..
1. As i wake up mrng see fb for 10 min(With 3G).
2. Play Games in office wen bored so overall in a day for 2hrs at the max.
3. Chatting for 3-4 hrs.
4. Phone call for few minutes.
I get battery for 1 day hardly. But difference is I DRAIN IT.. It dint drain itself
That was done just for fun. I didn't expect to acomplish anything. It's just that we can see complains about battery duration and draining issues all over the place. Well, at least you admit that you drained it.
And it's not true that I haven't used the phone during that period. Like I said, voice calls and messages were used like any other day (if I remember correctly there was ~45 minutes of voice calls) and ~half an hour of wifi.
Again, that was just for fun. Wanted to see how long will it last if I use it like normal phone. And that was just 4 days period. Normaly my battery lasts a day, two days tops.
I have 70 apps installed from market but everything is disabled on the phone (stock 2.3.6) so if I just use the phone for calls only the battery lasts for 8 full days, I'm very happy with the phone, only use wifi to update apps during battery charge!
Damn, excellent results.
But, you know what they say: picture or it didn't happen
Most of Galaxy SII users have had good battery backup but not me, my phone once went into a bucket filed with water. Had a friend to open it up and clean it with a chemical (Usually used to clean phones circuits)
The phone was fine, then battery problems came up, changed the battery still has issues average time it lasts is for 8-9 provided i do not use it for anything but 2-3 calls or text. or 3-4 hrs is maximum. All this has happened after 4.0.4 update.

it is common when you drop your phone into the water that the battery will start having problems.
For example suddenly you get a drop from100 percent to 50 percent.
I could be wrong, you can check the guide that is in my signature for your battery problems.

The thread is FAB! but like I said I am a noob hence doing everything you suggested is tough for me to understand. Looking at things like removing live wallpapers, stopping auto sync, keeping wifi and data plan off minimum brightness. I have tried it all. Still the problem exists.
Short circuit, perhaps? My suggestion would be to bring it to samsubg and see if they can repair it. I think it's a hardware problem

Seems more like it but they say there is a bug in 4.0.4. Should I try root before handing it over to samsung or just leave it up to them?
I was wondering if someone can tell me why my S2 is shutting down all the time.
A few weeks ago the following started happening. If I use my phone intensively like for an hour or so it just shuts down. When I try to restart it, it says the battery is almost empty. Even though it showed it had at least 50% juice before the shutdown.
The funny part is that if I don't use my phone a lot (only a few calls) it lasts about 2 days and the battery goes down towards 0% as expected. And when I use it intensively again, it shuts down.
So before blaming the battery and buying a new one I was wondering if something else can be the cause and I need to send it back to Samsung.
I was using cm10.1 until 2 days ago. I'm running stock now and the same issue is still there.
Re: Battery half way, S2 shuts down
Check whether or not the battery is loose in the slot. If it is then stick a paper to tighten it.
Other reason could be your battery cell is damaged. It cannot hold the current when some activity like wifi or processor is running.
I had faced not exactly the same but something similar to this only.
Replaced the battery and all okay now.

I had the exact same problem as you, phone would have about 50-60% battery, and after using it for a bit it would power off, and when it rebooted it had like 5% battery. I bought a new 2000mah battery and it fixed the problem.

I bought a fairly new unlocked, rooted (but stock) i717 just under a week ago. I'd been looking for the T879 so I'd have something similar to swap back and forth with my S2 but couldn't find one.
Initially, I figured battery life would be fine based on my internet research but I might have issues with speed and coverage. What actually happened is my battery life stinks and I get pretty good speeds in refarmed Chicago with higher upload than the S2 ever got.
Here's where I am for battery life-

I have the same settings on the S2 and get much better battery life with the same use. Any thoughts?
Here's my speed results, fwiw-
Your pic shows that you rebooted your phone 1 hour 47 minutes ago and that will reset all battery stats.
That's when it was fully charged. I don't have a lot of "evidence" as after the first day or two of such behavior I was sticking the sim back in the S2 for work.
Maybe this will help. I've been using it sim-less on wifi only lately but today I tried using it as a regular phone. Stated at 95% and took these at 15%. Ugh. I just ordered a 2700mah Anker; hopefully my battery's the problem...-
Have you tried without LTE yet? - that is known to be hungry.
I've only had it on TMobile; no LTE yet in Chicago and I'm not sure it will work on TMobile LTE anyways.
I came from an S2X and have noticed the same. The screen always hogs battery and I sometimes don't get a day from the charge. I tried playing with a different governor and that helped a bit, but frankly the battery on this isn't as good as my Hercules. Mind you, the old S2X maybe had an extra hour or hour and a half so at least they aren't grossly different.
I might play around with underclocking or other governors, but I don't know how much more one could do. Oh well, I just accept it as it is. I still like this phone, but battery could be a bit better in my opinion. Oh well, just me.
Carry on all

I believe that if in Settings/Wireless&Networks/Mobile Networks/Network Mode you allow it look for LTE then it will energize 2|4 antennas rather than one. I don't know if that is accounted for in "Cell Standby" or not. Turn it off when you don't need the LTE service.
Your stats show what I would expect - your beautiful screen is consuming your battery. Some ROMS are better than others at battery conservation.
So far I am quite happy with "Vanilla". Today I'm at 7 hours, mostly idle with 80% battery left using 35% screen and 30% Cell standby on LTE with Auto brightness and 1 min to display sleep.
Thanks Dan, when I get off the train I'll swap my sim back in and have a look.
Fwiw, I have a good data widget on my home screen and use that when the sim's in it.
When I got to mobile networks all I saw were 2 TMobile's and three AT&T's with no option for LTE or to even view the above.

I don't know for sure and do not have the same ROM as you but there is some way in one of those Mobile Network menus (Not in APN section) to specify 2G only, CDMA, GSM, GSM+HSPA, GSM+HSPA+LTE.
