Hi,
I would like to share you with this application.
It's called DisableService.
Not only did it solve my GPS Daemon problem but it has also improved my battery quite a bit!
Disable Service helps you to disable services running in the background such as "push service" ,"upload service" or "pull ad service" and so on.

Thanks for the app.
Would be nice if we could make a list of services that we can disable.
I have media server problems, anyone know what's the service name.

Mine was GTalk.
Go to System Apps/Google Services Framework
Disable GTalk. That was my GPSd problem. I recommend using Wakelock Detector from Pkay Store first if that was not your problem.

It will depend on your application usage. Basically I disabled everything safe running on my background.
What kind of Media Server problems? Can you elaborate? Screenshot if possible.
Why you didn't try greenify? The general wake locks are from google search/now, google maps.

I already have Greenify and Greenify Donate Version.
The problem is, it's located at the Google Services Framework and the GTalk wakelock is like Airdroid, even if you hibernate it won't.
I don't know if it's still an issue in Greenify now but I froze mine.
Thanks so much, the app is amazing , at least I can disable unwanted services like checking for updates and so on ...
but I have a question, does disabling gtalk service have any effect on push notifications like whatsapp or facebook notifications ?
I'm sorry I cannot help you but I can tell you that I do disable Gtalk service and Whatsapp has no problem.

Accidentally sent from my Samsung Galaxy Note 2
Hello everyone,
I tried no of things to clear gpsd wakelock to stop consuming battery.
I found one file in system bin, I deleted from root browser, good thing is gpsd doesn't occur in wakelock detector and even in battery screen.
But what I am facing the peoblem is phone gets switched off and will not start with power key. Need to remove battery and then restart aftrt installinh battert. Plz advise whether is did wrong job by deleting gpsd from directory or this kssue is something else.
Awaiting for valaued comments

Gave my network (O2) a call and all they tell me the data usage occurs in the mornings. That doesnt help much. Can anyone shed any light on this? Its doing my head in. Im on the latest ICS and atm, its unrooted. Hopefully one of you great people will be able to help me out. Got a sensation and this is fine, got a nokia lumia and this is fine. Thanks in advance guys

You can restrict data for certain amount of mb as u want in setting data usage
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Hi there,
You can download an app from google market called Permissiondog.
It tells you what permissions each app has on your phone so you can see which ones have access to your data usage.
It's handy for other things too! like checking if an app is being sneaky and accessing things on your phone other than what they' ve stated.
It could possibly be some malware that you have installed so maybe get a virus checker too I use Avast and it's pretty good.
Good luck!!
I downloaded and installed 3GS Watchdog as recommended by Tefanym. The culprit is the email app!!! Its used something like 548mb in a couple of days. Ive turned my data off atm but how can I fix this? Is there a fix or do I need to get back in touch with my network??
Check email settings for sync options, perhaps you can limit the number of times it syncs with its server

Lot of traffic for a mail. It's private or business one? You can try to limit how often the app is syncing. Also you can try to play with the settings like to download only headers etc.

I'm just making this thread to inform people of some battery issues they may have involving the official Facebook app. I don't exactly know when it starts but it seems to be affecting people that have updated the app. This afternoon I decided to download an older version of Facebook and immediately update it through the play store. As you can see in my first screenshot, within 12 hours it has kept my phone awake over 80% of the time even with Greenify forcing it into hibernation. The two wakelocks come from facebook syncing which shouldn't be occurring since I have both push notifications and syncing disabled for this app. In the second screenshot you'll notice where I uninstalled Facebook. Mind you, during the tremendous battery drain, I had the screen turned off almost all day. This is with only 2 hours of screen on time. I hope this helps people solve some unwanted battery drain.
I apologize for the small screenshots. For some reason it wouldn't allow me to upload them in the bigger option.

If you're not worried about getting notifications, then Fast Facebook without the Notification addon. Only updates stories and whatnot when you open the app.

Something I haven't noticed I suppose. I'll check that out though. I hate the UI on Facebook's app.
So far my battery life has been fantastic since moving to JB. Except for some catastrophic failures (Unable to connect via USB, No MMS, etc) the battery life has been phenomenal... Facebook hardly makes a dent. Plus I concluded that Facebook usually ate up a lot of time if notifications were being received from the message app or facebook directly. Worse if you have both installed.
Since I just read news feed on Facebook and I hate the top stories sort in the official Facebook app, I uninstalled the app. I just use LG Social + widget to get stories and they always sort in descending order. Best of both worlds.
Hello,
Here are some screenshots of my betterbatterystats and the battery history. Anyone have ideas on how to reduce these wakelocks? Also, I have noticed that my screen on time is pretty low yet the battery drained almost down to 0. Such a big increase in such a small amount of wake time (I only browsed the web and watched 2 videos. Any help is appreciated. Btw, from 100 to 97 the on screen time was 15 mins.
Anyone?
I can't help with your specific situation but many people are having issues with Google play services eating up battery. A Google search will return many results.
Only suggestion I have is to disable location services. Although I don't see how it would be relayed to gtalk reconnecting. Sorry

I saw an XDA article talking about the app greenify and how great it was. It essentially hibernates apps so they're not running in the background and was made to copy what the iphone does. I use it but can't tell if it actually helps and don't know of any other app like it.
My question is does anyone use this app? Or another one like it?
If you use it, do you see significant results?
I just wanted to see other peoples' experiences.
Thanks

Yeah, this app will prevent other apps from waking up your phone. So if you don't care about notifications for that app then you can "greenify" it, so that it will not be able to perform automatic tasks in the background.
It does save some noticeable battery life.
I use it too. It's been great for keeping Google Maps' battery suckage down, though the newest update to Maps is supposed to help with that. (I personally refuse to update it, so I'm still on the last version.) It also keeps other apps that may be constantly working in the background from waking up your phone.
I have Google Maps, Pulse, Walgreens, Amazon Appstore, DeskSMS, Google+, and Words With Friends hibernated in mine.

long story short it's generally considered on xda to be the best battery saving apk, even if you just use it for maps and Facebook.

I ran Greenify for awhile but didn't understand it and couldn't tell if it helped at all. These posts give me a better idea of it function. I'll load it again and set it up better and get back here if I get a better idea of its benefits. Thanks for posting.
I like it alot. I don't need notifications for emails constantly so I stopped that. Battery life is improved from greenifying other things like maps and Facebook as well.

Hi, I think I have problem with Facebook and Messenger app. Once hibernated I can't connect to data after app being launched again (fb app doesn't refresh, messenger says "no internet connection"). I hibernate only these two apps. Have no problems with any other, so It might be a greenify issue. Happens no matter which hibernation option I choose. I need to manually close the app and then launch again. Anyone has the same problem?
