[Q] Hasoon All-In-One Kit - HTC Amaze 4G

So, I'm going to start off by saying, I'm a complete noob when It comes to Rooting. I'm quite an experienced jailbreaker, but when It comes to this, I feel like a fish out of water.
I was browsing around and found the Hasoon (or Hassoon?) all-in-one kit for my phone, the HTC Amaze 4G for T-Mobile. My main question, since this kit claims to be noob-proof, is when I do this, will CM10.1 be installed? Or does this JUST root my device, and not install any ROMs. I am wanting a vanilla Jelly Bean experience. Of course right now, I'm running 4.0.3 with Sense on top, but my mom just got a phone with vanilla Android, and It's making me a little jealous. It's time to fix this.
This is my first post here at XDA Developers, and I would just like to say thank you to everyone who has made this site possible. I use it near every day.

Oh Sorry I've got 4.0.3. Typo. Since It only gives me root access, how would I go about getting the Vanilla 4.2 on there after I rooted? Thanks.

well since your already on ICS all you have to do is flash 4EXT or which ever recovery you like (i personally recommend 4ext) enable smart flash and flash any rom your like within the dev section and READ THE INSTRUCTIONS and thread aswell to get a idea bout that specific rom

CM9 or Official OTA?

A small place to post your opinions to keep a conversation here lol. Well, which do you think will be delivered first? Which will you take? I prefer CM9, but most probably the ota will come first though
Sent from my HTC Amaze 4G using Xparent Green Tapatalk
ay, CM9 has more root capabilities and customizability, plus ive always been a fan of CM, so im in for CM9
Well the OTA or a Amaze 4.0 leak will help with the progress with CM9.

CM9 FTW for sure!
I think OTA will arrive first, but I'm looking more forward to CM9!
CM9 for me. Although I can't wait for ICS, I can wait for a stable CM9 build. Unless another developers releases a nice ICS Sense build till CM9 becomes a daily driver.
CM9 will probably never become stable and I have not even bothered to root the phone since all I needed it for was tethering. Luckily the phone can be be tethered without the need for root.

Most newer phones can be tethered....but you have to pay for it with root you don't....back on topic cm9 is going to be awesome if/when it comes out I like stock aosp but cyanogen just offers so much extra goodness

I believe we will see an OTA update before we see CM9 for the Amaze. I've been a fan of CM for a while, and hope I'm wrong. Just my 2cents.

Plan to root...But...

Hey all,
I plan to root, though I am quite scared...
But, is there/coming soon a Sense 4.0 ROM for the RaZr?
Please Note: I have a GSM Moto Razr and not the CDMA Droid RaZr.
Any help?
Unless some developer does some crazy magic you will not have a Sense 4.0 ROM on RAZR.
Sense = HTC skin on Android
Blur = Motorola Skin on Android
To get a sense ROM you will need an HTC device.
About rooting, its easy as cake nothing to worry if you follow all the simple steps

Thanx man!
This is me:
System Versionn: 65.1.40.XT910.AsiaRetail.en.03
Model No: XT910
Android Version: 2.3.6
Baseband Version: U_03.1C.91P
Build Number: 6.5.1-167-SPD-IRD-40
Can I root?
And forgive me for even saying this, but back in Windows 6/6.5 days, We could run Sense/non-sense ROMs, along with other ROMs...so, I believe, there is no such thing anymore...?

Of course you can root. Look up the Motofail exploit.
As for Sense, things are unfortunately not as simple as they were in the Windows Mobile days. There is a lot more hardware variation, and a lot more differences between different manufacturers' Android versions than there were between Windows Mobile devices. It is extremely unlikely you will ever see a Sense port to the RAZR, between its locked bootloader and limited support (As well as very little demand for Sense) it's just not likely to happen. If you just want the look of Sense, there are plenty of themes around to emulate it.
Please post questions in the General section next time.

When I first left my DROID Eris I missed since. I bought the paid version of launcher pro and it did a very good job of replicating it visually. I've since moved other launchers ie. Adw and go, they all have skins to appear like since and have as much or more functionality.

Those are more integrated into HTC's UI. Chances are, we'll never see any of them on a Moto device, esp one with a locked bootloader. Maybe the keyboard.

Root access is great but an unlocked bootloader allows radio and kernel flashing. As of now, we can install the ICS leak and revert back to Gingerbread. But theres a newer ICS leak that locks us from reverting back and pretty much takes us off the upgrade path. It's just easier flashing and reverting on an unlocked phone. I went from 4.0.2 to 4.0.3 to 4.0.4 and flashed every radio that existed on my Galaxy Nexus. Reverting was crazy easy. Moto just requires more work arounds.

Has anyone made one yet? Or is it still in the making? Or is it the same way you root your phone previously?

Well, if you want root, then I recommend you flash a custom Rom, when I had stock I was never able to get root, and if you get a Rom you'll get better performance anyway
Amaze 4G ENERGY ICS
Use the Amaze all in one toolkit and re-unlock your bootloader, and use it to flash a custom recovery (it only includes TWRP, which works fine), then use the recovery to flash the Superuser.zip, which you can find all over the place. Sorry for no links, I usually just stumble upon them all.

Lol man don't take it personal... I love ya guys that are here doing something. I've tried most ROMs out there. I really liked a couple, but it always comes to this.
I run stock rooted sense. I kill the cap key lights, installed a new launcher (apex pro of course), I debloated, I installed custom splash screen, boot animation, and down animation. Juice defender handles my battery. I've got adw ics theme installed just for aosp icons for homescreen. All I have left, is to get working aosp apps to replace my system sense apps.
What don't I have that a custom sense rom has?
And for the record, I tried miui on my mt4g (cuz mrmako777 swears by it, and he's a cool dude) and I hated it. Reminded me of iOS. I just mentioned because its an alternate OS that a lot of people like. But I LOVE cyanogenmod... And we won't get that w/o proper driver code being released.

Don't update it. In my experience, technically challenged people don't appreciate it when their technology changes, sometimes even if the change is for the better. The phone works great on Gingerbread...if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

That's like going to a Chinese restaurant and only hoping to see pizza on the menu.
Seriously, though. . .if your wife is happy with GB and is not particularly interested in, or adept at learning, new tech there's no sense in updating just to update. As for the "official" update, the responses seem to be all over the place. . .from folks who love it to those who loathe it and say they're going back to GB. It really all depends on how happy your wife is with her phone as it currently is AND how prepared you are to deal with possible problems caused by AT&T's implementation of ICS.

Complete stock here. 4.03. Personally I think you should go through with it . Like others have mentioned there isn't a big change in the user interface . So your wife shouldn't have trouble figuring things out since there nearly identical. You can help show her some new features she may like such as full screen web browsing, the new task manager ,screen display or data manager. Then again you can always set it up for her so she doesn't even need to understand how to "turn on the feature"
Aside from the phone OS experience, I'd also consider apps. If your wife only uses Browser and Gmail, then stick with Gingerbread.
On the other hand, now that ICS is "stock," I would plan ahead for developers dropping support for Gingerbread - at least in some cases.
Apps from mainstream companies (Amazon, Netflix) tend to be extremely backwards-compatible, while smaller shops may focus efforts on fewer versions, and once you can guarantee access (carrier-provided stock ICS), that's one less version to maintain.
For my part, I wanted to try out the Chrome Beta. Won't run on Gingerbread, so that's a no-brainer for me.
For the record, I do not run stock, but I used the above logic when I went from a Gingerbread ROM to an Ice Cream Sandwich ROM.

App developers have to consider the market. Currently (as of June 1) approx 20% of devices are running 2.2 Froyo and 65% are running 2.3 Gingerbread. Those two account for 85% of the market. Only 7% of devices are running ICS. Not too many app developers are going to give up over 90% of the market and make their apps specific to ICS. See here for details.

Tried it and had some issues. On the subjective side I thought it didn't seemed as smooth as GB. Objectively I had some issues with notification sounds not working. Also the menu is different enough that it could be a little confusing at first for someone that doesn't like to mess with their technology.
I first Flashed the Stock ICS with CWM from AJ Newkirk to keep my root. The stock did not seem that much different than GB. I progressed to v6b of the Newkirk ROM with Touchwiz UX and other changes. Much more interesting. Then Flashed the new Shishir ROM with Touchwiz UX and the UCLE5 Modem and am experimenting with them both. Unless you plan on moving to the next level with the custom ROM's I would question if the update is worth it.
Thanks to AJ and Shishir for their hard work and speed to get their ROM's out.

Custom Jelly Bean Roms For Rezound?

So I've been looking around and from what I can tell, the jelly bean situation for the rezound is looking pretty bleak considering the fact that it hasn't even received ics yet. That doesn't phase me though because I figured I could just install a custom rom and get it now; however, it seems thats not the case because for some reason no one seems confident that a custom jelly bean rom for the rezound is possible. Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't there already custom jb roms for other phones? So I was just wondering if anyone could explain to me why a custom jb rom for the rezound is not possible? And if it is why hasn't anyone made one?
If you were to search a little more I believe the answer would become more clear to you

Rather than flame you into oblivion I'm going to spare you and explain.
There are currently no AOSP ROMs available for the rezound - only sense based ROMs. As there are no sense based jelly bean ROMs, there are no jelly bean ROMs period for the rezound.
Now my real advice - read more, wait patiently, and don't ask for etas.

Rather than flame you into oblivion I'm going to spare you and explain.
There are currently no AOSP ROMs available for the rezound - only sense based ROMs. As there are no sense based jelly bean ROMs, there are no jelly bean ROMs period for the rezound.

Why are there no AOSP ROMS like ICS for the Rezound. I'm running Desensed Roms but would love to get my hands on pure ics.

We're in a position to get AOSP, not /about/ to get AOSP. Just because there's a working RIL doesn't mean the kernel or the rom is ready to go. Could be days, could be weeks before we see it. Don't get people's hopes up, you're less likely to be disappointed.

Soooo uhhh hmmm... When's the ETA on when we can start asking bout ETAs? Lol jk.. just yanking or chain. K.. my answer for OP: I can almost certainly promise u that by mid next 2013 we should see jelly bean for Rezound. Reason I say that is because as of recently the RIL (which is what allows the phone to receive 4G LTE) has finally been cracked/resolved. And the official OTA ICS is soon for us. Also ICS-Jelly Bean is not that huge of an update, it is most likely we will be receiving that as well.

Means nothing, 2.2 -> 2.3 wasn't massive either, yet it still took Verizon 6+ months to update some of their phones.

cant be that broken.........its cm9 which has basically all the base code for msm8660 devices.....the kernel is the only thing that might not be ready due to being a 2.6.35 kernel and not 3.0 but 2.6.35 works fine for the most part

Erm, chads had pretty good luck with the ROM staying stable as far as I can tell. He's just having issues with 4G having a short attention span.

Are you serious? Stuck?
Considering that only 0.8% (not event one percent) of Android handsets globally have JB, Rezound owners will now be in the category second only to those with GB on their handsets. Enjoy ICS for now and you know very well that the amazing devs here will generate a JB ROM for the Rezound as soon as they have the "raw materials" to do so.

Yes i am very much serious that I'm stuck. Don't get me wrong, i like ics a lot, but I find it annoying that Google releases New versions of android and i don't get to use them until months later. I know it's not Googles fault, but it is frustrating nonetheless. That is why I'm waiting for the next nexus phone. Until then I'll rely on the awesome devs here at xda.
