I randomly miss some short messages sent to me. These are sent by different senders and problems occurs almost everyday.
My operator says everything is ok and according to their logs all the messages have been sent to my phone. I have sometimes tested this by myself sending a message from another telephone. Sometimes a reboot of the device will help for a while, sometimes another test of sending comes through.
This is annoying and frustrating because you can't be sure if someone has sent you something and all this happens randomly.
I'm currenlty using Samsung Galaxy SIII I9300 with Omega Rom v.45. I noticed this problem with the previous version v.44.x.
Any ideas what may cause this? Do I have to blame the ROM or my operator or my phone?

Is it based on a leak?
Flash a ROM based on an official release and do a factory reset. if that doesn't resolve the issue, probably a network issue - although if yo0u're using a leak, it's not unexpected to find major bugs

What do you mean by "Is it base on a leak"? I have downloaded the ROM from Omega's official donwload center (Omega I9300 XXUFME3 v45.1 JB 4.2.2, torrent-version), rebooted the phone in to the recovery-mode and installed the ROM with "Full wipe"
Any suggestions for an official based ROM?

IT IS BASED ON A LEAK read the rom description .
SMS is a well posted problem .
Use a rom based on 4.1.2 if you don't want to use leaked test beta firmware 4.2.2

Ok, thanks for your replies!
same issue
I also had the same issue.
I'm also using Omega with stable release.
I notice the problem appear when I did a nandroid restore or same problem when I update rom without full wipe.
I was able to receive the missing sms with Ghost SMS.

Ok, so ive had a couple of problems with my recently bought Sgs2, ive got all the other problems fixed except this one: when i turn on the camera app, the flash goes on and off once, the same happens when i turn off the camera. Its a very fast flash that occurs.. it doesnt matter what camera app i use, it does it everytime.. the flash does work properly during camera use if needed, and works normally as a torch.
It doesnt bother me much, but would be nice to get fixed..
Any ideas?
If your using a custom jb rom then it's normal. It's a known bug.

Im using SlimICS 4.2+ Siyah 5.0.1
So he said.... That if You using not stock rom flash bug be...
Looks like he said: if its a custom JB rom, the bug occurs. Im using ICS and the same thing happened before i even flashed a custom rom. The phone was running a stock Samsung GB rom then..

I have the same problem, that the flash will light up shortly when the camera app closed, and when I read the last comments it seems that this is a known issue for quite a while.
How does it come that this is not fixed yet. I'm using custom roms now for a few month now and from the beginning I was wondering about the strange flash behaviour compared to the stock rom.
Is it because there is still no official release from Samsung for JB or why is it so difficult to fix? Are the camera drivers closed source?

Guys, it has got nothing to do with the hardware, its a random one that happens with all ICS and JB based custom roms
@Sun90
If you read the whole thread , i had the problem before custom roms with a 100% stock Samsung GingerBread rom..

have u tried flashing a Stock ICS rom (v4.0.3) and seen for the issue
if not give it a try and see, just to confirm whether its really a hardware issue or a software one
nothing to loose though, if the problem gets resolved for u it would be fine right
do a clean wipe before installing.

I used to get that on my x10i with certain roms.Definitely a software problem.
Same issue here, came about randomly day before yesterday. LED flashes once, quickly, whenever something tries to activate it.
Only ever used stock soft/firmware, and Chainfire's kernel. Cleared all caches, tried factory reset, problem persisted.
Flashed to whatever the latest ICS is for H3G today, problem still persists, I shall try official kernel tomorrow, see if that fixes it -- I don't hold much hope.

I'm using hellybean 4.2.1 and I don't have this bug!!
Hello
Might be a silly question. I have a i9300. I used to run stock rooted and the camera used to work fine (a couple of times I had the" cannot connect to camera" issue but it resolved itself). I then upgraded to 4.2.2 Pardus HD rom (variation of samsung stock to preserve the camera compatibility versus aosp) and my camera would not work. It would say "cannot connect to camera". I flashed 4.1.2 stock using Odin(for my country) and the camera still had the same problem. Once I gave it to the service center, they said the camera needs to be replaced i.e. hardware issue.(its cheap so getting that done).
So my question is that could it be possible that upgrading from 4.1.2 to 4.2.2 caused a bug in the camera firmware(I read you can manually change that) which caused it to fail? Or is it really a hardware problem? Because then I wont update to 4.2.2 again and stick with a 4.1.2 ROM
P.S. Idk if it matters but I live in Pakistan and the latest software update we have had here officially is 4.1.2
P.P.S. I never had camera problems before (software or hardware) till I started using a sandisk 32gb sd card. That could not be the issue can it?
Thank you in advance for any help!
As its not completely stable you should avoid upgrading as per my perspective.Dont know others suggestions

But the 4.2.2 ROMs are more or less stable (like OMEGA ROMs) and have no problem with them as reported by other users..

That could break the camera?
As the ROM itself says leaked so better dont upgrade there are plenty of 4.1.2 custom ROMS go with them.

hmm I never had a problem like this when I flashed cm10.1 based ROMs. They were all fine. Then again the camera was buggy due to the sources not been released.
Anyone else input on this?
Fact flashing a rom may in certain cases damage camera firmware its know to happen very rrely .
Search the camera firmware posts identical questions .
return to warranty condition and take to a service center
Fact 4.2.2 is giving relatively few problems for a leaked beta test firmware .
The claim that most 4.2.2 roms are overheating and draining battery can safely be ignored .

hey everyone im using swedish three (3) carrier with an unlocked phone!
it is a samsung galaxy s2 currently running infecteds linaro sabermod build rootbox V.4.2
i switched because i thought it would help , the problem i am having is that sending text messages sometimes doesn't get sent away to the one i want to send it to. so sometimes i have to send 2 text messages for 1 message to be sent. i had this problem in official cm10.1 also and P.A.C and not in rootbox V4.2.
does it have something to do with my phone that it has become defective or is it something with my simcard ?
another problem i also have is that mobile data (3G internet) very often gets dropped. and doesn't work for a while so no apps are syncing. what should i do.. i am thinking of buying a samsung galaxy nexus from ebay ,because noe store in sweden has it anymore. because i want a fully open source phone..
anyway what could the problem be ?

It could be that the problems are related - your lack of signal is causing messages to be unreliable. Have you tried flashing a few modems to see if you can improve your signal? Modem only, not modem+ril as you're on 4.2.2

Ok,so what modem is part of the stock ROM which is released by your carrier in your region. First port of call is to flash that.
No luck? Flash full stock ROM + kernel (root on the fly using Mobile Odin Pro if you choose) and see if you get the same issue.

my regions modem is XXMS2 from XWLSS 4.1.2
and i just did a stock rom flash last night to see if it would help but no ...
and then i flashed rootbox 4.2 and it is not working !
Been having this problem for a few weeks now on both SlimROM 4.2.2 and 4.3 as well as stock CM 10.1.3 and 10.2 nightlies.
Randomly, my phone app freezes and I cannot make calls. I try to make a call and nothing happens and when I try to hang up it won't let me. I cannot force close the phone app either. If i restart the phone I get the same problem.
The only way to solve it is to dirty flash the rom again. This will keep it good for a day or two and then the issue comes back.
I've tried several different modem/Ril combinations to no effect.
Has anyone got a solution or at least an idea as to how to troubleshoot?
Cheers!

As far as im aware you should not flash modem ril on any rom other than on sammy based only flash the moden on other roms. This might be the cause?
Try flashing stock and see if you face the same problems.
I'm not sure what you mean sorry. Try flashing a stock rom or stock baseband? I'm using official modem Ril from an Australian telco xxlp9 at the moment with CM 10.2.

What he means is non-TW roms & RIL's = tends to lead to busted connectivity. You only flash RIL's with Samsung-based roms -they don't play nice with AOSP-based roms, so that's quite likely the cause of your problems.
The suggestion to do a clean install of stock, preferably a stock rom released by your carrier (as this will have a modem that should give you good connectivity), is sound. If that solves the problem, then you can re-root your phone/re-flash CM or whatever you want to use, but don't flash RIL's again. If you're not 100% happy with connectivity when you reflash CM, stick to trying modems as the PP suggested.
Thanks, I'll give that a go and see what happens.

I always have problem with sms, love the phone. So please confirm you have working sms and it delivers instantly to your phone after someone text you. if this is problem with my phone, then I will buy a new one.
No matters how I had tried, clean or dirty install 5.0 or 4.4 ROM, factory reset, wipe everything, I still have problem with delayed message whenever someone text me. I take at least 5-10' for message arrive. everything else including sending message, receive call from someone or calling are fine.
it happens to all AOSP ROM but stock ROM. it works fine on any stock ROM.
Thanks for your help

Swapping phones probably won't help. I don't run custom ROMs, but I have read of others having this issue on custom ROMs.
It is what it is I think. The custom ROMs still have issues to work out, especially when it comes to LP.
Mine is fine.
Did a dirty flash of Jasmine.
Works Fine Here

What modem are you on? I'm using the 12B modem from the latest update and I never have any issues with cellular service or SMS/MMS. I did have issues on Lollipop until I flashed the new modem, and since then, everything has been great. Also, make sure your data mode is set to LTE (recommended) and not Global unless you specifically need this.

I've had 12B modem since before flashing AOSP, and I consistently had SMS problems using Lollipop roms, including CM12. I've always had to go back to modified stock ROM after a day. This past Friday I installed latest CM12 nightly, and finally SMS is working as it should. BTW, I've made it a point to clean flash every time.
Wow you're right. My first time on rom in two years. On illusion. And my sms is about 45-60 seconds behind. Good thing I use hangouts more than anything these days....
