USB OTG - HTC Desire V

Yesterday, i bought a USB OTG cable unaware of the fact that our phone doesn't support. But, i read that kernel must be supported to run OTG cable. Does anyone know or can help out to run USB OTG ?

HTC one x supports USB otg by stock kernel it is a possibility that that our phone too supports it

As i said, that i tried it already and it's not working.

If you want to definitely find that a device support OTG (aka Host Mode) Cable you can install that, run it and in results you have your answer. Basically, for a device to support OTG it must contain drivers, Android configured for that, and a built-in hardware.

I am a Desire v user. even I tried the otg cable, (not support) run the diagnostic, and my device is not supported. isn't there some sort of driver that we can install in our device to enabel otg support? my phone is not rooted.

Following Desire V characteristics, it`s based on Qualcomm MSM7227A Snapdragon (S1) Chipset. By typical specifications of MSM7227A, CPU not support USB OTG. CPU even can`t supply power to the mini-USB port.
So it will be a miracle if any developer will take a look for Desire V & compile custom 3rd-party kernel with supporting overclocking, governors, frandom, etc. And may be it will support USB OTG with external power supply.
But I'm afraid this does not happen. So forget about it.

Its supported by kernel itself (stock and custom), but not supported by roms (stock and custom).
So ... what are the chances to have it? What can be done, at what level?

No chances Its needed to add something to audio libs/configs/frameworks to route sound to DAC.

[Q] OTG Cable Compatability - Rookie Q.

Hello! I was redirected here from XDA Assist Forum for the following.
The device i am using is a Kindle Fire HDX 7 32GB running Thor-Gapps-13.3.2.4-v1 ROM.
I've been searching for an answer on how to get an OTG cable to work for my Kindle to play roms. I tried a much older method http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1652800 but with no result. If there is or isn't a method please let me know :highfive: Thank you for taking a look :fingers-crossed:
Huh?
USB OTG isn't enabled on this device. I believe it is at the kernel level and since we don't yet have a released bootloader unlock, all ROMs have to use the stock Fire OS kernel.

Thank you for letting me know
Still the case? Any idea from anyone of the developers if its ever going to be a possibility? I'm about to buy another one due to its perfect physical size for my mod need and I need OTG for an FM Radio.

Xperia M4 Aqua and USB OTG!

Hi.
I'm thinking about buying this device, but have question for people that have already this device or know the answer to this.
Does this device support usb otg so I can connect usb drive, xbox controller etc?
Waiting for answer.
Apparently not. I've just plugged my USB flash drive in with an OTG cable and nothing.
they're screwing with us. Its not a cheap phone after all, so sony could add support for this, but nooo....
I read somewhere that Android M will have native support for flash drives, and giving the fact that this device is new its high possible
that it will get Android M support, with could possible fix that problem.
Android M?? No. I don't expect that Sony will release Android M to us...
I just want to have a very fundamental function - USB OTG!!!
Come on, Sony...

Sony announced an update t 5.1 for the M2 and M2 Aqua see blogs.sonymobile.com/2015/06/04/android-5-0-lollipop-rolls-for-the-xperia-z-series-android-5-1-coming-for-xperia-m2-and-xperia-m2-aqua
So I think there is a change for us to get Android M.
(Sorry for the text link, I'm not yet allowed to post links directly.)
OTG doesn't work on my M4 aqua.

Seriously? Sony will update M2 to Lollipop 5.1 and it has already announced a Developer Preview of Android M for Z series (plus two or three minor model).
We'll surely receive Android M.

Today sony announced that the sources fir M4 are available on github. So even if Sony won't create 5.1 fir us, there is a good chance that there will be a cyanogenmod ie other alternative roms.
See developer.sonymobile.com/2015/08/14/first-64-bit-xperia-devices-added-to-sonys-open-device-project/

Lets hope for Google to release M soon, then we will have it also soon

Can't we use a powered OTG cable?
I have seen them on some sites.
Xperia L got OTG support through a similar method.
Please confirm i am really looking forward to buy the m4 aqua.
Overheating is okay as long as it doesn't overheat while calling.

What cable are you using? I have Y type USB otg cable and i tried putting power to the one end through either usb port of pc or charger but nothing happened. I tried several softwares from market. If somebody succeeded with certain cable and software please post links.
Can you kindly check whether sony m4 aqua has a usbhost driver. You can check this via AIDA64 app, goto devices in the app. What i believe is that if a usbhost driver is present otg should work.but sony removed powering up of the usb device.
Hence it might be possible to get otg through a powered otgcable.
Xperia L got OTG through a similar method.
I didn't buy the m4 because of otg problem and lack of storage.
It is not a cheap phone too.
OTG is a must.
I checked but do not see such thing in devices in aida 64. We may only hope on future update to bring up this support.
recently bought the m4 aqua DUAL
i was wondering if the m4 aqua dual had the same overheating issues the regular m4 aqua does, the most up to date firmware version is one month newer on the dual than regular m4
m4 aqua:
Latest available software: 26.1.A.2.99
Release started: 2015-07-17
m4 aqua dual:
Latest available software: 26.1.B.2.102
Release started: 2015-08-03
so is it safe to say the dual update has eliminated both overheating and performance issues? i got the dual version instead of the single slot version because it comes with 16GB of memory
Don't you see a usb host driver like this?
We should send sony support aski
asking for otg via a firmware update.
Otg is a must for this mobile.
Sony e3,m,m2,C,c3,sp,t2 ultra all have otg
Only phones which do not have are e1,e and e4.
We should ask to add.

There is no such driver unfortunately. I hope that sony will add it in future.
