USB OTG

Yesterday, i bought a USB OTG cable unaware of the fact that our phone doesn't support. But, i read that kernel must be supported to run OTG cable. Does anyone know or can help out to run USB OTG ?
HTC one x supports USB otg by stock kernel it is a possibility that that our phone too supports it
Sent from my HTC Desire V using xda premium

As i said, that i tried it already and it's not working.
If you want to definitely find that a device support OTG (aka Host Mode) Cable you can install that, run it and in results you have your answer. Basically, for a device to support OTG it must contain drivers, Android configured for that, and a built-in hardware.
I am a Desire v user. even I tried the otg cable, (not support) run the diagnostic, and my device is not supported. isn't there some sort of driver that we can install in our device to enabel otg support? my phone is not rooted.
Following Desire V characteristics, it`s based on Qualcomm MSM7227A Snapdragon (S1) Chipset. By typical specifications of MSM7227A, CPU not support USB OTG. CPU even can`t supply power to the mini-USB port.
So it will be a miracle if any developer will take a look for Desire V & compile custom 3rd-party kernel with supporting overclocking, governors, frandom, etc. And may be it will support USB OTG with external power supply.
But I'm afraid this does not happen. So forget about it.

[Q] OTG Cable Compatability - Rookie Q.

Hello! I was redirected here from XDA Assist Forum for the following.
The device i am using is a Kindle Fire HDX 7 32GB running Thor-Gapps-13.3.2.4-v1 ROM.
I've been searching for an answer on how to get an OTG cable to work for my Kindle to play roms. I tried a much older method http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1652800 but with no result. If there is or isn't a method please let me know :highfive: Thank you for taking a look :fingers-crossed:
Huh?
USB OTG isn't enabled on this device. I believe it is at the kernel level and since we don't yet have a released bootloader unlock, all ROMs have to use the stock Fire OS kernel.

Thank you for letting me know
Still the case? Any idea from anyone of the developers if its ever going to be a possibility? I'm about to buy another one due to its perfect physical size for my mod need and I need OTG for an FM Radio.

[Q] ROM with OTG support

has anyone found a custom rom FOR MTK6572 in a DOOGEE TITANS DG150 phone? Im looking for OTG support so I can use a flash drive and external hard drive s. Factory says OTG is not supported, I dont know why its sounds daft not to.

I need help!

A reason you haven't gotten a reply is you weren't even close when you decided to do your first post in Android Development and Hacking > Android Apps and Games
Although you are a new user, that showed a total lack of effort. And as such, no one has made the attempt to help.
At the top of the forum web site is a search box..... Type To Find Your Device.....
The five seconds it would have taken to do that... would have gotten you here. The perfect place for your question.

What do you mean by USB OTG signal? You mean usb otg functionality?

Well i dont know if this could be useful, i have the 4G LTE and the 3G moto e2, the otg works in the 4g (i have tested it with a mouse and a 16GB usb) but in the 3g version when i plug in the otg cable nothing happens, the usb otg notification doesn't appear, and if i go to the storage settings the usb doesn't show.
So i may assume that the Snapdragon 200 has no OTG support (or maybe it's disabled on this device)
Please correct me if i'm wrong
And sorry for my Google translate level english XD

N00b Question regarding Kernel/Custom Os

So i've installed this custom os [ROM] [N6F26Q] AOSP Nougat (12 Jan 2017) on my Galaxy s2 plus, and then my DSLR camera connection stopped working (OTG), but the os says it should be compatible with OTG, i'm not sure the DSLR has anything with OTG to do tho?. Now i have googled around and found files neccessary for it to work, installed them and USB Host Controller detected them, still not recognising the camera.
So is there a way to install what's "neccessary" from the original stock firmware into some kind of kernal or "added function" via Custom Recovery or perhaps Odin?
Thanks to anyone that can potentially help to solve this!
This is something you give up when you use aosp. The otg works only if they use the open source version which most do not.
With aosp only the very basic functions will work.
Any custom rom for s2 plus that it works on if you know?
If anyone else have the same issue, it was never a problem with the os, i've tried it on several custom Os aslong as your phone is OTG compatible it works, it seems.
Buy a new OTG Cable and it will work again, or rather say buy the adapter version of it, better then the ****ty cable version that i bought, that broke out of thin air.
