Hi guys, i'm making a bootanimation of god of war(love that saga) from a video but the zip weight is so high 42MB. The thing i wanted to ask is that if there's anyone who knows how can i reduce the weight and also if there's a problem with the weight or if it doesn't matter
Thanks in advance, regards.

I think the size is not interest , but you should make it 320 X 480
and all done

42mb for a bootanimation is HUGE
How many frames is it & what res/dimensions are the frames?
What size in kb are the frames?
How long does the bootanimation run for?
I'm curious because an average boot animation frame at 320x480 is around 25kb
42mb = 430008kb, which based on average bootanimation frame size = 17200 frames
At 30fps that would be a 10 minute animation

It has almost 200 frames with res of 320x480, the frames weight between 30kb and 200 i think that's probably cuz i save each frame from the video (with camtasia) when i make the frames with ps weight like 10kb
Do u know if the zip weight affects something?
Thanks both of u

I'm no expert but with a 42mb bootanimation zip it's going to make your rom about 30-35% larger and use up 42mb more of your internal storage.
Maybe you can compress the file size of the larger frames down
For example, if the frames are .png format use something like http://tinypng.org/ to compress the image
It can compress file size by about 60-70%
Firstly try if the bootanimation works...if everything u've done is good and also if u hav some free space for bootanime then try to use it. Also if size matters do as the above post says..optimize ur pngs...
Cheers,
AJ

Hello everyone!
I was wondering what are the best pictures/wallpapers to put in our Home Screen?
I just tried some but the final result was always disappointing...
Can you give me some pictures and tipos to make a good homescreen only by changing images...
Thank's!
If you're using the default S.E. homescreen, then using a PC, resize/crop your images to exactly 480x320 then make sure you don't crop the image further when setting it as wallpaper on the phone (i.e. make sure the handles are dragged out all the way
Also, saving as PNG is often nicer, as you won't get any compression artifacts, that can make the image look ugly on the phone
Here are a couple of wallpapers I've resized to the right format
You can check out these wallpapers, they are the correct size:

Nice collection
Another trick I learnt from a different blog to get the right sizes is get images in the size of 960 x 854
Check out this blog post and a few wallpapers there too . . . . For later searches simply go to Mobile9 or DroidForums for wallpapers in the 960 x 854 size

I use Virtual dub to break down the movies. if you would like you can pm me and i can break it further down to you.
....for the ViewPad!
bootanimation for viewpad7
Since there is nothing listed here so far, ill just post my stuff here.
I've created a custom bootanimation.zip based on the dr who title sequence and tweaked it so i would run well on my viewpad.
Images are ripped from youtube video, so i can only take credit for converting and resizing them. to reduce size and speed up loading time i've reduced the images to 400x240 and stretched them out using desc.txt in the zip.
Install the bootanimation.zip using adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local/
I've also included a replacement boot sound to go with the animation. My viewpad 7 runs DearDeer.ogg from /system/media/audio/notifications/DearDeer.ogg as it's bootup sound. The only way I've found to change that is replace the file with something else of the same title.
Wow loove the boot animation!
Whats the procedure for creating it etc, I tried to edit the standard one off mine, I edit a few frames with ''stolen from ''+my address and re-saved the frames, rezipped, copied back into the phone, and it just skips my edited frames...
Whats the specific file format and what did you save the frames with/as ?
Not exactly sure what you mean, but when rezipping, have you set the compression to store ? if you compress the images in the zip they wont load.
My procedure:
1. downloaded youtube video from dr who title sequence in mp4 format.
2. Used Quicktime Pro to cut and export the video to a BMP image sequence.
3. Used Irfanview to resize the pictures to 400x240 and 256 colours to reduce size.
4. used Irfanview to convert the BMP to PNG
5. used pngout to further compress the PNG files for smallest file size
6. Downloaded a custom bootanimation.zip and replaced the png files inside.
7. Edited desc.txt in the bootanimation.zip for correct screensize

+1 nice & good start, going to try it out once DW get home as it's hers now to use.
Anyone got customized & business-like ringtones (Mp3 format?) to share - non.copyrighted ones, please - the stock ones included sounded subdued and not distinctive - not that we've planning to use it as an oversized smartphone.
TIA.

Netflix works perfectly on the Viewpad 7e.
Sent from my SPH D700 using XDA App
Cyanogen Mod 9.2. I like my Ice Cream!
Works really cool but it takes for ever to start.
Can you explain better the desc.txt ?
the screen size of the mini pro is 320x480 and when I download a wallpaper (of the same size) and look at it in with the gallery app, it fits my screen exactly. but when I then want to set it as my wallpaper with gallery, apparently I can only use a part, at maximum half of it as max size? how come? how can I get wallpapers to be properly displayed at their full screen size?
Wallpapers need to be wide enough to cover 3 homescreens - due to the scrolling. It does not scroll more than 3 screens regardless of actual # of homescreens on your phone.
Therefore your wallpaper should be 960 x 480 for full coverage (3 x 320 by 480). Took me a while to work that out myself
thanks for letting me know
but then I wonder why people upload so many wallpapers with just the size for 1 screen?
edit: now Ive read that the best size is actually supposed to be 640x480, because apparently it doesnt move that far when scrolling

3MB+? are you joking?
