What do those icons mean? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

see attached picture. What do those two icons in the top left mean? I have smart gestures disabled so why is that 'eye' icon showing up? what is the other icon next to it... some navigation thing? I have GPS disabled but the location services Is on.

The eye icon is for smart start. That keeps the screen on as long as your looking at it. The one next to that his the e911 icon for you location to be broadcast to emergency services

If you have any questions about icons again, there is actually an icon glossary under "About Phone" in your settings.

[Q] (Q) What is up with my notification bar

Attached is a screenshot. Everytime I check notifications a weird rando number shows up in upper left corner. Weird characters show up instead of times on text messages as well. Anyone else have this issue?
Looks like an app you installed is causing that. Def a battery app. Your battery meter in the notification bar is showing the percent left of the battery which is not stock. Try checking the settings of the app you installed.

I agree. Probably that battery widget app. I would try to uninstall and see if that stops it. Then reinstall.
I have the same one I believe, and it is working fine.
I can't for the life of me figure out how you get the "notifications" and "quick settings" options at the bottom of your dropped down notification bar. How did you do that?

Rooted with venom. I'll try uninstalling battery widget

Battery widget wasnt the culprit
Check your DEVELOPER settings. I think there's an option in there that superimposes some info onto the screen.

Unknown icon in status bar

Hello good people
I have a strange new icon in my status bar on my samsung galaxy s III nordic version,
since i cant post any pictures yet i`ll try to explain how it looks,
It`s to the top left, a grey square that have a pointy side to the left, and in the box, there is a black line
I have uninstalled all the apps that might put icons there but no luck even finding out what it is, I have searched through different forums, but can`t find out what it is for.
Would love some help?
It is not clickable?

I have the exact same icon on my Samsung Galaxy Note w/ ICS. I do not have a "Notifications" toggle, nor can I see where any of my notifications have been turned off.
Thoughts for me?

How to remove blocking mode notification in status bar?

I really like the blocking mode built into the os, but is there any way to remove the notification from the status bar when blocking mode is enabled?
Sendt fra Tapatalk
I have same query
I was wondering the same thing , its great but also a bit annoying being in the notification bar
Not that i know of, but it should stay there, you need to know it's on since it disables key functions.
I noticed that, while blocking mode was enabled, whatsapp sounds still go off in the middle of the night.

True, but we don't need to know it's enabled when it's not doing anything. If you set the between time it should disappear when it's not affecting anything.
Looking for a way to get Tasker of NFC Task list to enable and disable it.
Yeah... this notification is pretty annoying...
I hate it too... And just like everything else it shows how samsung can't make 100% good software.... Everything is always "almost good"... There is always something that spoils everything... That's why I can't stay with sammy rom for too long...

when you try to change the sound of notifications in whatsapp, and you select "Default ringtone" it doesn't use the notification ringtone, it uses your call ringtone, it's really annoying, but I think that's why, it's whatapp's fault
really hate this "feature" to notify me about blocking mode not being enabled...
annoying
yeah I agree this thing is completely annoying, it should be in the status bar when on, not when off! Image having a notification all the time that says your alarm is scheduled to go off in 8 hours.

that's the beauty of technology.. nothing is "perfect" otherwise, if everything is perfect on sammy then we wouldn't be in XDA now, would we?
I managed to hack away this notification!
The process is relatively lengthy, and does require a rooted, deodexed ROM... But it works!
The notification will be COMPLETELY removed - it will not show up even when blocking mode IS actually active (i.e. during the active hours).
Anyway, in case you're interested: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32872016#post32872016

isn't it easier to access the resources folder, look for the block mode icon and delete it?

I'm not sure if that'd work. It might remove the icon from the notification bar (the thin one on top), but likely not the ongoing notification when you drag it down fullscreen.
I'll try tomorrow and post it, but I think I remember seeing all that icons (the quick settings icons too) in system framework...
JFYI, I've put a couple of CWM zips together, see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1943987
By the way, couldnt find the icons on framework.apk
if you pull down your notification bar and press and hold blocking mode notification you will see app info, click on that and you should see a box about notifications and if you uncheck that the icon and notification will go away.

You can't uncheck this one, it's checked and greyed out (in other words permanent).

Status icons on top bar

Hey guys, two questions. One, why do I have so many status icons on the right side of the status bar, and how do I get rid of them. And two. Can anyone tell me what the icon is between the GPS location and vibrate icon. I can't find the meaning anywhere. Thanks

Hmmm
You can get rid of the most icons but not all.
Lets start from the left side of the notification bar.
1. Saver- You can turn off the saver and the icon will go.
2. then You have taken a screenshot , so You clear it by pulling down the notification bar and clearing it.
3. then You are using facebook messenger the would remain their or simply drag down Your chat and the icon would go (Your chat would go)
4. You can turn off Your location services and the pointer icon will go.
5. You can turn off You NFC when not needed and its icon will also go
6. And among the rest , You cant get rid of the profile icon nor the signals but yes You can turn off the battery percentage ( but percentage really helps).
I guess i didnt help You much
sorry
This was a lot of help! Why would I need NFC on anyway?

Notification won't go away - displaying over another app

I installed an edge app since I really liked that feature on my s7 edge, but now it get a notification when I pull down from the top.
There is a notification there that says the edge app is displaying over another app and I cannot get rid of it. I can delay it and make it go to sleep for an hour, but I cannot dismiss the app.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

I'm using a program called AutoNotification from the Play Store and it gets rid of those annoying Displaying over other apps prompts.

I have tried that, but it still shows enabled.
I hold down the notification I want to get rid of, then select the setting cog (by swiping right or left), which opens up the android notification panel.
I find the notification that I want to disable, "edge screen displaying over other apps" and select. I turn off all the notifications but it still shows enabled on the android notification panel. Would you know how to turn that off?
Thanks for your help.
