Are you rooted? If so use your recovery to clear your cache.

it doesn't work..
i have tried it many times, also dalvik chace..
If your device is rooted, try to install and launch Lucky Patcher. It will probarly give a notification at start-up which says 'Unused odex removed!'
If that doesn't work, remove /data/app/fileName.odex using root explorer.
Hey,
You can go to /data/app in file manager with root privileges and there you can remove the app you want to install's .odex file.
Eg. If you want to install Swiftkey.
Go to --> /data/app
When you are there remove, swiftkey.odex file.
It should work
(This is basically what DroidHackz said)

It's basically a small error in which the odex file remains even though the core apk of an app is removed, an odex file is generated by an application package to improve its execution time(basically the app becomes faster).

Sounds like Chrome does not want to be installed as a system app then Is there some benefit to having an app installed as a system app? Or why do you want to have it installed as a system app?

OK I don't know how things work on phones outside of the HD2, but can't you just push the .apk to /system/app with a root explorer, fix permissions in CWM and reboot?
Try to use ADB to move it and remember to set permissions
You need to extract libchromeview.so from the Chrome APK (found at: com.android.chrome-1.apk/lib/armeabi-v7a/libchromeview.so) and move it to system/lib. Optionally, you can remove libchromeview.so from the Chrome APK and zipalign if you want to save a couple of MBs of space.
This worked for me on v. 0.18.4531.3636. I attempted this some time ago on an older version unsuccessfully. If you have an older version for some reason, you'll probably need to update.
Latest titanium backup update said something about fixing conversion in what's new

If I'm not mistaken system apps load first on boot and are often quicker at starting up than user apps. That's been my experience anyways. However a lot of em are more hassle to convert than the slight increase in speed is worth imho
im trying to install an apk file but it keeps coming up "could not be installed , free up some space and try again"
i have iused 16GB of internal but still have 9.6 gb of internal memory free and about 30GB of extsd
how can i fix this ? i have had this apk installed a few days ago but got rid of it .
I would say part of the file is still on your phone as you had it installed recently, you need to make sure all of it is deleted it think you do this through astro, someone with better understanding will be able to tell you if astro can't do it.

Use a root explorer. Go Data\App
Delete anything related to the particular app you are trying to install.

I cant get it to install, i cant download and install anything else but this. I had it on my phone and it disappeared during a auto software update for TB?
I had this same prob. Check your system/app or system/data folder to see if its still in there. Remove then reinstall

If you already installed this and if you use something like Luckypatcher it can happen.
Try uninstall and reinstall and if the same wipe your dalvik cache (and remove patch in Lucky if you use it)

My guess is that you have old *.ODEX files related to the application that prevents you from reinstalling it. Are you rooted? If so, you can use any compatible file manager to remove the associated *.ODEX file (it probably has the same name as the application package) in /data/app folder (supposing it's an user application).
hey guys can any1 tell me how do i change my superSU app with other 1... like superuser and remove the previous 1?
the reason i want to change is coz i cant access few apps like "root explorer" and "ad away" coz when open them they say "Either su binary could not be found or you did not allow the root permission for adaway" but i have already granted the permissions... this is happening in these 2 apps so far while other apps like greenify and other are working fine.
the thing is that there no option either to update the SU binary in superSU app which is installed in my custom rom "SUPER JB"
here is the link of the app which am using https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.supersu
and am attaching a screenshot also of the error i get.
plz help me out... thanks in adv.
I'd check your root, sounds like you might have broken it.
EDIT: You already have a thread so there was no need to start a new one.

Did you try to reinstall? The option is down in settings.
After re-boot and re-install it will ask to update binary.

I think I found out why its happening in these 2 apps... Coz I installed them manually frm file explorer using their Apk file n not from play store... But I still dont understand tht
Y is it happening.. I mean bfre also they used to work... Maybe is it the new custom Rom I flashed.. superJB?
But bfre this also I had custom Rom called powerJB..
Is therr anymore solutions?

Hey, how's everyone?
I have a backup file made with Titanium Backup for GMD GestureControls, but for some reason I'm unable to restore it to the phone! It just hangs with the box saying "restoring" and at 0%. If I try to install it from the APK it just says "App is not installed".
Really frustrating because I've been able to install/restore things flawlessly before and now, what gives with this junk?
I've used ADB to push the apk to /system/app but that didn't work either!

Well I'm familiar with Lucky Patcher but how exactly do I initiate the removal of the unused odex?
Edit: Well I tried to use Lucky Patcher to install the APK file that I had, and it said "must first uninstall the application before installing this apk-file as the signature applications are different because of the recompiling. Delete the app?" I clicked okay and it said "restore failed."
So I think there is something from the old app still there but I don't know how to remove it

Just install SystemCleanup from Playstore an CleanUp the system. It will erase unused ODEX files.

Guys, I need you to be very careful when discussing Lucky Patcher, it is almost always used as warez. I will let the discussion of it as a tool to remove unused odex files stay, since this a legitimate, non-warez producing use for it. But please, please, please, don't stray into a discussion of its other uses.
Thanks!
