Hi,
I am running Desire X DEODEXED Stock ROM 2.20.401.5 Jelly Bean Sense 4+ ROM on hboot 1.24.0000. I tried to perform a factory reset by going to Settings -> Backup & reset -> Reset phone. I clicked the 'Reset phone' option on the warning screen. The phone rebooted, but when the UI comes up, I can still see the widgets and apps I had installed earlier. SMSs and call logs are also intact.
Can anyone please help me to perform a factory reset?

When I do a factory reset, my phone resets to this very strange state. I recently flashed on a new kernel, which is when I first saw this strange factory state. I tried to fix this by flashing the current version of my phone (Xperia Arc LT15a, 2.3.4 build 4.0.A.2.0.42). So now the firmware is back to normal but factory reset still changes my phone back to some strange state (for example, the home button doesn't do anything when pressed... i.e. doesn't take you home!).
My question is, how can I alter my phone so that it factory resets to the ROM that I want it to? I don't know how this strange state got on the phone, but it's not resetting to the factory state that it used to.
Or point me in the general direction for a solution?
Thank you
Alex

This [SOLVED] the problem. THANK YOU. Another success story!
Just need a quick answer.
If I factory reset my phone (gsm) from this rom:-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1202422
Would this bring back to my stock rom? or would this simply reset the to virtuous rom? or would it brick and i would have to flash again?
Factory reset will reset your current rom(virtuous). All messages, contacts, settings, third party apps, etc will be deleted
Hello,
my girlfriend has her Desire X for almost one year. During this time everything was quite ok, apps were installed and internet was working correclty.
Lately she found out that her smatphone is working slower - home screen is loading for a long while, when she has a possibility to enter text - her keybord does not appear as fast as it would be smooth and gentle
Well, for now I know that I can make her root and install an ew rom or wipe data and restore factory settings, but do not really want to loose data.
I have tried to unistall not used apps and restore factory version of some as well - it did not help.
Do you have any idea how to bring smile on her face again and make her phone working well again?

Factory reset, root doesn't make your phone smoother but factory reset does
What GtrCraft said. Also, since the DX is ICS+ you can use adb to backup apps+data ("adb backup -apk -all -nosystem") so you don't lose a thing. (Depending on apps this may be counterproductive however)
No other way than factory reset?

Try wiping cache and dalvik-cache via fastboot. To do this, connect the phone to PC, put it into fastboot mode, and do fastboot erase cache as well as fastboot erase dalvik-cache.

You must do as follows:
1. Backup your contacts and sms, NOT OPTIONAL.
2. After backup go to settings and factory reset your phone.
3. After factory reset restore everything and see if this happens again.
4. Post here the result to know if we must do other things.
5. Good luck.
I have an S3(android 4.2) and I wanted to flash it to 4.4(for Pokemon GO). Now I installed [this](http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/development/rom-blekota-s5-lite-beta-4-5-1-t2752331) but I dislike the S5 menues, hud etc.
I want to reset my phone(everything). How can I do that? I tried via the menue, however it resets the phone, but keeps the S5-look(check the link above). My goal is to reset the phone and only update to 4.4 kitkat, while keeping everything like it was before on my S3.
Thanks.
@faaaz: I recommend SmartDroid: JB-style & light. If you need extra SammyCrap, use Bloatinstaller. Wipe system, data, cache, DalvikCache before. No need to flash firmware before, if IMEI and net-access are ok.
