Hello,
my girlfriend has her Desire X for almost one year. During this time everything was quite ok, apps were installed and internet was working correclty.
Lately she found out that her smatphone is working slower - home screen is loading for a long while, when she has a possibility to enter text - her keybord does not appear as fast as it would be smooth and gentle
Well, for now I know that I can make her root and install an ew rom or wipe data and restore factory settings, but do not really want to loose data.
I have tried to unistall not used apps and restore factory version of some as well - it did not help.
Do you have any idea how to bring smile on her face again and make her phone working well again?
Regards,

Factory reset, root doesn't make your phone smoother but factory reset does
What GtrCraft said. Also, since the DX is ICS+ you can use adb to backup apps+data ("adb backup -apk -all -nosystem") so you don't lose a thing. (Depending on apps this may be counterproductive however)
No other way than factory reset?

Try wiping cache and dalvik-cache via fastboot. To do this, connect the phone to PC, put it into fastboot mode, and do fastboot erase cache as well as fastboot erase dalvik-cache.

Hello,
I'm using latest stock rom from toshiba from months without problems...
Now, in two weeks , I have had two "automatic" factory reset !!!
Yesterday I switched off without errors my folio after reading emails, newspapers and some web surfing with dolphin hd, and today when switched on, after a little long bootup time (again without errors) I have got the standard wallpaper, and all my apps and settings were gone, exactly a factory reset!! (sd/storage data are here)
I restored back my backup and all is working again but i want to understand why it happens!
Why do folio "select" a factory reset automatically???
Thank you
I could be that you setted some settings for that or stock rom have some "limits" for cache and date?
Ir the problem persist, do a backup with Titanium.
fastboot erase cache
fastboot erase system
And reinstall

Thank you.
Do you thing there is a problem with these two partitions?
Can I do a "fsck" ? My folio is rooted and I have busybox installed... but I cannot do it ("busybox fsck") becuse it says there isn't any fstab in /etc...

All i can say is that worked for me.
After flashing FolioTNT from stock rom, it worked fine some days, later it give me exactly the same problem. Doing fastboot erase worked for me.
I think sometimes the operating system screw up himself.
I would recommend you doing fastboot, not fsck. But it you want, try it.
After flashing a new version of CM11, i found myself in a loop upon startup where many of the core applications of android stopped working. When i reverted back to the old version that worked(I didn't have a backup saved but rather i flashed the older nightly of the rom again), I noticed that my home button, lock screen, and notification bar/toggle screen wasn't working any more. I looked into it and looked at my apps, and saw an unnamed app with the description "com.android.keyguard". upon looking this process up, i found out that when people disabled this process their home button, lock screen, and notification bar stopped working (coincidental eh?), and decided that this was the source of the problem.
Is there any way to load on a new, fresh version of "com.android.keyguard" or should i just do a factory reset? I would prefer to save my local data, but if i must do it in order to have a phone that does anything useful, i obviously will.
If I need to do a factory reset, what is the cleanest and smartest method of doing so? I know titanium backup can cause a lot of problems (and in this case i'm worried it will duplicate com.android.keyguard), but I assume there is some sort of method that makes a factory reset while retaining the bulk of user data very easy. am i correct?
Do a full wipe and flash again, check the md5 of your download.
Only use titanium for use apps, never system apps or settings. There is no easier way to change rom.
I have the same problem now..I have did the full reset. But the problem is not going at all.
What should I do?

Flash back to stock and start over.

Hi,
Last night I installed the new stock lollipop. Initially I had a problem with rooting it but eventually everything was working fine. I've used Philz recovery and cf-auto-root. All seemed fine, and I've got all my apps, accounts, etc. back.
This morning I woke up and it looks as if at 6:02am the phone just froze. The strange things are (1) I could turn on and off the display so it was not completely frozen, just the UI (displaying new screens and receiving a response from the keys or the touch screen). (2) I thought to reboot into recovery and when I did - it was the stock recovery! not sure what happened to Philz that was there before?
In any case, I did clear cache and restarted. The logo came up but after 20 sec I've got "unfortunately, media storage has stopped". Of course - it did not receive any response from keys or the touch screen so I could not release this message - only on-off worked. After a minute or so, I saw that other services are crashing...
Of course I can do yet another "wipe to factory" but I was wondering if anyone experience the same. If I will make it work after clear to factory - I'm afraid it will behave the same after a day or so... Any suggestions?
Thanks!

This happened to me. I had to do a factory reset.
I seriously do not recommend cf auto root(because its not designed for this firmware). Use chainfire's update SU zip that you flash through a recovery. That update SU zip will prevent the stock recovery from being re-flashed. In addition, I always do a factory reset (wipe entire internal storage) before updating the ROM since I root. If I didn't root or anything, I wouldn't wipe my data. But when we root and mess with stuff, plus all the tries to prevent root, it conflicts sometimes. So a factory reset is always best. I was able to use Titanium Backup to restore everything. Just forgot to backup my Internal SD card.. xD

Thanks elesbb, I saw your message just now but I have my phone working already since few hours ago after a 2nd stock reflashing. If I have the same issues as before - I will use chainfire's update SU.
What I did find is that once I enable accessibility (to apps like Tasker, and an LG bluetooth headphone I have (so it could announce notifications) the phone becomes unstable; it just went through 2 boot loops but eventually recovered... Hopefully it will stay stable.

Hey guys,
I'm wondering if there is any way to disable the forced factory reset if you go to bootloader via key combo. Picture: www[dot]upload[dot]net/file/d/4686/sgyhu6up_jpg.htm
It's really annoying to reinstall and reverify all apps if I install the latest update of the resurrection remix.
So would be great if someone could give me a hint.

First of all, can't view the picture so not 100% sure what you're referring to but I'm pretty sure I know what you're asking about. So, on all LG phones pretty much, when you use the button combo to get to recovery, it comes up factory data reset screen and ask you to select yes or no and you have to select yes two times and are brought to TWRP. If that's what you're referring to, it has nothing to do with RR and everything to do with LGs bootloader. If you have TWRP installed selecting yes does nothing except brings you to TWRP, it does not factory reset anything. Installing an update to RR doesn't reset anything either unless you manually wipe stuff within TWRP. Only thing that sometimes gets affected by installing update is it all ask for super user rights on apps again, but no way around that and it may ask you to set some programs as default again (like if you use a different messaging app instead of stock). So, again, the reset screen is not related to RR but instead the bootloader but did nothing except bring you to TWRP. Installing an update doesn't erase your data or apps unless you manually wipe them within TWRP. If you're doing a dirty flash (just updating) no reason to wipe anything except cache and davlik after it finishes flashing, and then it doesn't erase any apps or data. Only wipe system, data, etc if you're trying to do a clean install. In that case, I recommend using titanium backup to backup and restore all apps and app data.
Hey, thanks for the fast response, and yes the thing with the factory data reset was exactly what I meant.
That when TWRP is installed it doesn't wipes the data is very good to know, I sadly found nearly nothing about this.
So I think the problem is solved with your answer.
Thanks and have a nice weekend.

I'm so lost and confused over this since yesterday...
so 2 days ago my phone started lagging and hanging and freezing until i realized i have got this issue with data encryption
i have a rooted sony z2 with TWRP Custom recovery
first i didn't know it was with data encryption failure so i literally factory reset and installed all my apps and data again and again!!!
On both rooted and non rooted rom ....
after every time my phone started to lag !!
after one whole day of trying everything i finally realized its actually with the data encryption and i should change my ex4 to something else... so here again i wiped the phone and changed to ex3 and installed and all my data and apps all over again
but after a couple hours...same problem again.....
im literally so tired of not knowing what to do ! my head hurts so much due this ugh....
Please help me get rid of this issue thanks ...!
Hey, i would flash the full stock rom without root and twrp and look. I think it is a problem with the twrp recovery.
On my V30 with Oreo we should flash a zip that disable data encryption after some modification in Recovery.
Just try for a week the full stock rom.

Well i have already tried using the stock ROM without any root or recovery !!
and its still the same
however im not sure whats the zip file u r talking about and where i can get it for my Sony z2 D6502...
By the way i just thought it might be another reason that my device is lagging so much after installing like 30/40 apps.
i have overclocked my CPU with root and even after flashing the stock rom i feel like CPU settings hasn't been reset? is it possible?
its always on end MAX and less Min value on both stock/pre root rom my CPU gets very hot on TWRP specially, its more than 70Celcious so i thought maybe its a hardware issue and my CPU is overheating bcuz its old or something... and i should prolly change my CPU ?
i really don't understand whats wrong with my phone and im so confused about what to do
I had here a Z1 and Z2 both was my previous phones.
I didnt experienced such problems except i backup or restore anything in TWRP.
My questions for you are:
On which Version are you now?
What do you done exactly before the problem starts?
Get a Monitor App from Playstore and look what cause this high load. Or you take a look in the Developers Option for this.
We got here a not tasty problem, maybe you backup your whole data and reset all to stock and don't install any apps, after a while installing step by step your apps.

I dont think if its even about TWRP because i even installed the stock rom with Flashtool and started installing my apps one by one and after a couple hrs device started lagging and freezing and odd how Wifi gets soooo slow ! (like everything gets slow in it) and also when i reboot the phone it oddly takes long time on boot menu to load .
im not sure if i did anything to cause it tbh...
it just happened on a normal day...
it gets soooo slow and leaves no other way for me but factory reset option...
i have the latest rom 23.5.A.1.291
the only time i can get it temporary fixed is when i backup the rom on TWRP and factory reset the Rom and Restore it back!
and everything is working fast and fine again only for like 6 or less hours...
and while data is restoring TWRP shows the CPU Temp on +80C !! Is this normal?
Btw i have a unlocked bootloader.
do u have any idea what i should do?
Yes i do! You need a structure by fixing a problem, my plan is:
You must explorer the problem why your phone get so laggy.
Perform a factory reset and use your phone for 1 Day with this stock setup. (Dont restore your old apps or data)
Look often into the Task Manager to show what cause the cpu load.
