Hi All, Viber has a feature of tagging your location to sms. This location is automatically taken from the GSM tower location of the phone. Can anyone help me tweak this to ensure my Viber reports a location that I want it to report. Note: I do not want to disable location sharing all together, I just want it to tag a location that I want it share.

Can someone enlight me in how to disable the collection of anonymous usage statistics that get's collected when i turn on the GPS? I don't want to participate in such google-projects where i'm collecting data for anyone...
Somehow this seems to me that Android is a new google-project where google continues where their streetview wifi-data collection-effort ended... :-(
I am looking for such a solution too.
I don't want to use my 3g for google projects and I don't want to be a part of google projects.

I am developing a mobile application that needs send push notification and messages to the user depending on the device geolocation. I have been testing some push notification providers (Urban Airship, Notificare and Parse) that allow me to send geolocalized notifications.
However, the problem is that the accuracy of the location highly depends on the frequency with I refresh the device location. If I refresh very often the location accuracy is improved, but the battery consumption increases a lot. If I refresh only a couple of time per day, the battery life is improved, but the location accuracy is worse.
Has anyone had this same problem? How did you solve it? Is there any provider allowing to send geolocalized push notification without having to be send the device position to the server?

I know your thread is a bit older, but I have recently started using matchinguu and it seems that their service was deviced for that exact problem. Used UA before and in my book, they did not really provide geo -> problems in Europe, Geo more as a segmenting topic of the past etc. Then I worked with Estimote which worked well for iBeacons, but only for those. With matchinguu many of these issues are now integrated and seem to work fine. They also provide a monetization option on top.
Alternative could be to use RadiusNetworks Open Source library.

So simply Google maps couldn't seem to fix my location with data connection it does only with WiFi.
BUT.. In other apps like Whatsapp for example when I try to send my location through it, it fixes my location at lightning speed!!!!
How is this even possible?? :/

Been looking for a while for a GPS based location and directions app that has the following functionality
1. Pinpoint any location on a map and save the location by giving it a unique ID (alphanumeric)
2. Share this ID with your friends using the same app by sending this ID via the app or email or sms.
3. Users use this ID for location and/or directions instead of typing the entire address or GPS coordinates.
4. App can use google maps or Nokia maps or other maps.
Please suggest some apps with similar functionality.

I would like to know is there any file or database any where in android system where it stores gps coordinates or location information whenever location get locks?
Reason that if someone wants to get all history whenever any apps like google map or gps navagitor uses location services, other then that apps, does android operating system stores or cache consolidated location information?
