[Q] USB mode not working - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

Hello
I flashed the Hyperdrive rom today on my phone and then I went just now to plug my phone into my pc, it recognizes it, and lets me view the contents on both the HD and SD card, but when I go to copy something to either place it tells me that an error has occured or that my device is unplugged?? Help please!

I would probably go back to Stock Firmware and then re-flash your ROM. It might have been corrupted.

I have it all fixed thanks everyone!

[Q] SD there but not there

So I'm running JT's vanilla Gingerbread. And after a day my SD card is not showing to be inserted thru gallery or if I try to download to. However I can play my music find ringtones on the card view pictures thru other apps and when I go to storage under setting it say card mounted and shows memory. Also something else weird is I can't delete anything from the card. Not really sure what's the problem and could use some advice Thx. (update) So two days now I've realized the problem has nothing to do with the SD card it self, everything is still there and I can do back ups from it as well as export contacts and flash in recovery. The problem seems to be somewhere in the rom. Gallery show a message "Sd unmount or not present" as well as I can't delete anything from the card thru the phone. Root explorer says it's deleted but it's not, every other way I try I get a "file can't be deleted" message. I can view pictures and video thru astro just not thru gallery. So I'm thinking this is not a wiped or fried Sd card issue but something with thew rom, I'll try flashing powerwashed rom and see if the problem continues and update.
If your running anything gingerbread expect your sd card to get wiped, do a backup asap.
Keep me Fascinated.
I am having the same problem

I would try backing up the card, then formatting. Not sure if it will work, but it's something to try.

So my problem continued next i was getting the status 7 code about recovery can't mont so here's what i did. Go to the how to go back to stock thread and follow the directions. Odin the CWR v4. Place Jt's VGB on your SD card with the gapps zip and flash thru CWR 4. 24 hours now and no problems. Hopefully for good as I really like this rom

[Q] USB Storage damaged

I can't get my internal or external sd card to work anymore it keeps saying "usb damaged you may need to reformat it." Anyone have any idea of a way I could back things up before i have to format?
Should probably mentioned that CWM still recognizes it and that it happened after I flashed the v5 preview of checkrom in the I9100 section (hellraised of course) and that the issue still appears even after going to my Android backup, ICScrewD

Try hooking your external to a computer and copy all the files to another folder. Format it. Then put them back on.

Problem is that the external is fine but not the internal, I think I have a solution but I have to wait until I get home

If it's accessible from CWM, adb pull

i can adb pull the entire sd card right?
This happened to me but worse...
For a week or so I had a feeling my ext card was dying (backed up weekly), yesterday it stopped working. Had to reformat then use some recovery programs on Window to get the files back most of which I got back.
I thought that was the reason for my media scanning loop, but once I removed the card it still did that the rest of the day, I ended up reformatting the internal portion as well, but I moved everything to my PC before doing so.
Was able to get rid of all the junk from leftover apps/roms as well, feels smoother.
Hopefully your able to retrieve everything, good luck!!

just need to pull the android folder on the sd card, too much stuff to do manually with droid explorer
Never used Droid Explorer, I just pulled it directly using windows since it was just the USB. Going to grab it when I get home and see what Droid Explorer can do for me.
Thanks!

it can't do folders but it basically is ADB with a GUI, ended up saying screw it and wasted the Android folder and everything is back on
I had the opposite problem once. My computer would recognize storage, but the phone wouldn't. I ran a disk check and it fixed the problem.
I'm having a different issue when I plug in the USB and hit the drop down to "select to copy files to/from computer". When the computer recognizes the two SD drives, I get a popup that says there's a possible problem with my internal SD card and wants to scan it for fixes. Not sure if it's safe to let windows mess with my internal card. I can opt out of that popup and everything works fine. The question is, is it safe to let Windows scan and possible fix it?

USB Storage is damaged too, no CWM, no connect to PC
Hi,
Just rooted my phone 2 days back and today just got the USB Storage damaged in notification bar.
I cannot accessed to both internal and external in ES File Explorer and also not able to connect to my PC. I do not have CWM too.
I did have a copy of Titanium Backup for all users and system apps in my PC, is formatting the ONLY way? I am afraid that after formatting, the system files would be gone and I would not even able to restore from Titanium Backup and Samsung Service Center would charge me since I had void the warranty by rooting the phone.
Please help! :-(
Go into recovery and mount the internal and use adb or Droid explorer to get the necessary files out
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA App
I am using Quickboot to go into recovery mode, Tried the Reboot system now but still same issue. which one to select? Pardon me as I am new to rooting.
Reboot system now
apply update from sdcard
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
You don't have cwm installed it seems

No CWM installed.............you sounds like I am done for :-(...............what's next for me? Really hope I do not need to send to Samsung, sure charged me for warranty void.

My advice is to just flash a kernel with Odin, getting into Download mode with a jig, and then trying to pull the files off with CWM.

[Q] Need some help please.

I thought I was doing pretty good with this One being used to the HTC One X . Now a new problem I can't figure out. When connecting usb. It says usb connected. Debugging mode checked. My computer says Android device , My HTC. but it wont show as a hard disk in the computer, It only shows as a portable media player. I can't access the SD card, can't go into Recovery and mount SD card to copy or delete. This just started when I flashed Cognition 1 rom. I had factory on it before and was reading the SD by copying and deleting roms to the card. Any backup I make in recovery and rename , it still has a label as factory rom.
Windows 8,
unlocked , rooted, TWRP recovery v 2.5
I have a folder on the SD card labeled "Roms" where I put the Rom zips to flash in recovery and can't find that now either. In settings , under storage there is "mount usb storage " as greyed out. I have deleted HTC sync. Deleted drivers, reintstalled drivers and back to where I was before. Any help ?
Try rebooting computer

At least you offered something even if it didn't work. I can't figure out why it was working fine, then nothing. I can get to the"portable media player" thru my computer and all is recognized but the SD card wont show or be able to mount in recovery.
Yea I haven't ever had that issue yet lol if I find anything I'll post it here for ya maybe @gunnyman may have some insight he's been around the HTC block before

Only thing I can think of is try cwm recovery instead of twrp

If you get stuck, I always choose sideloading because that doesn't require access to the phone storage.

I haven't got stuck yet to the point of no return. I tried using CWM no difference. Tried calling HTC. they offered no help. For some reason I just made another folder for roms and presto there is the folder. When in recovery I see the "rom" folder and whats in it, but connecting to the PC there is no folder except now the one I made. When I go back to recovery there is only one "rom" folder but I can also see what I put in it before making the new folder and adding to it. Still can't mount the SD card in recovery tho.

Never call support... Absolute uselessness in that solution. Just install from zip to get the boot.

Trying to install ROM onto phone, keeps giving error

Lately I have been trying to install a ROM on to my phone, but I cant get the files onto my SD card. Keeps saying, "Cannot copy item. The device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected.". I just rooted the phone about a week ago and figured I would change the ROM. Also tried unblocking the files but got nowhere. Also tried other ROMs, nothing is working. But I can transfer files to and from my SD card with no error. Any ideas?

I can transfer pictures and such to and from the card, but not the ROM files. I am trying to install the 4.4 kitkat rom found here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2519988.
My device is a sprint samsung gs3 with CWM recovery. I would try putting the SD directly into my laptop but I dont have an adapter for my micro SD to use in my laptop.
Hey,
use another 4.4 rom like SlimKat or just use a SD card reader and not connect your phone

HELP-stuck with PhilZ and nothing else-HELP

Hi All
I wanted to install another rom( [ROM] [4.4.4] [CyanogenMod] [GCC 4.8] [Stable] [Flexible] [Excellent] [31/07/14] ArchiDroid V2.5.2) and the first time round it ended up at continuously booting so I reinstalled it again (through odin)and deleted all data.Installed according this
Now I have philz clockworldmode and nothing else.
I do not seem to be able to add the stock rom to the ext sd card as the computer does not recognise the s3.
What can I do??? HELP
Thanks
Use a pc to copy the firmware onto the external sd card.

The sd card is not visible? Can't open those folders?
How can I fix this?
Not through the phone. A usb adapter. Put the zip version of the rom on the root directory of your sd card via computer then flash with philz

Are you sure you've got the latest Samsung driver installed?
I personally use a MicroSD adapter to transfer files between the laptop and the phone with a MicroSD, do you not have anything like that?

Hi mild_peril, thanks.
That is exactly what I have been using and after a couple of tries I managed to get the local rom from SM flashed. All good now except I wand to remove a couple of counters.
