Not S-OFF for Desire X yet.

No need to s-off.
Flash a custom recovery.
Flash your custom Rom.
Follow instructions and TAKE BACKUP BEFORE DOING ANYTHING AT ALL .....

I sent a message to kmdm from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42322906 and ask him if i can use the "revone" to my DX but not responced.
Any news about Revone S-OFF by team Revolutionary? It seems it's working on a lot of HTC devices. :fingers-crossed:
As long as nobody tests it, no... I can't give my phone for that, too important it keeps runnning...
I see. We should contact team revolutionary and ask if we should try. Anyone is in touch with them on facebook, twitter or some other channel?

They say:

Please visit #revolutionary on the Freenode IRC network.

I could go there in IRC, but I can't test it on my phone with the risk of bricking it, so someone else is needed for testing...
I see. Well, let's see what they say. Maybe it's safe or (more probably) they are sure it won't work.
s-off
I don't use my desire x and don't really care about it. Should I test revone s-off? Only if you guys really really need s-off. Dont just say you want it because some say so. I'm still risking a phone here.
If its a yes, please give me a link to the necessary files. As I have super slow internet atm. And I cannot load up several pages to find it. Used up all my data usage again >.>.

I thought I would start a thread to help people that sent there DNA out to get JTAG s-off and now are trying to flash a custom Rom.
If anybody want to put there experience on here so people know the steps and the correct way to handle the bootloader.
I think it would be helpful. I am still waiting for mine to come back from mobiletechvideos so it would be helpful for me to.
Thanks to anyone who contributes.

The purpose of the forum is to get the right info I've seen conflicting points on whether or not you still need to unlock the bootloader after s-off.
My understanding was that once your s-off you don't need to unlock because it bypasses the bootloader security checks. I am probably wring but I was hoping to get a clarified answer with this forum what do think choochoo

You shouldn't have to all you really need to do is flash the ENG Hboot and flash a recovery and then flash a Rom most have root already and your good to go. If you wanna use the stock hboot and only want su permission then you do need to unlock hboot it to be able to flash a recovery and superuser or supersu.

The eng hboot has more functions available so there is a better chance of messing up the phone. Most people stick with the stock hboot since that's good enough for most.

Just got my phone back from the JTAG service and this was the exact procedure. Flashed the ENG boot and then flashed recovery. Bootloader still says 'LOCKED' but allowed me to flash.
I've JTAGG'd 18 DNA devices so far on the OTA update (I do this on the downlow due to specific "developer" who can't understand how to get all phones to take the RIFF JTAG flash software.
Flash ENG Hboot if you want the options available to it, though not mandatory. Install a root program (SuperSU is my recommendation), then flash a recovery.
Immediately backup your current setup, then go for any ROM you see fit. Profit.

Yes, there are 3 ways
1. Softwate/OTA update from HTC (Officially)
2. S-OFF your Desire X and use a modified P66IMG.zip to manually flash hboot update.
3. Use an RUU for Hboot update (if available)
Regards
Yasir
As far as i know option two (S-OFF) isn't possible for Desire X as of yet, and option three (a JB RUU) hasen't been released.
So we're just left with option one. Do i miss something?

You can only update hboot via OTA update, and for that, you need stock Rom, like it was before rooting, and stock recovery. Then you'll get the hboot update to 1.24 and then 1.25 hopefully.

s-off involves high risk of bricking the device thats why devs stay from it and its very hard to attain s-off as it requires lot of hardware knowledge.. leavin aside some fancy mods, we can still do alot of development without s-off
S-OFF
ohok didnt realise it was that hard to do also when a device is bricked due to this does that mean using a JTAG recovery thing, (I saw one of the guys in the elegancia rom post meantion this) would not recover a bricked phone ?

I recently tried an experiment. My bro Huawei phone got ota but as he had modified system apps, the ota failed. His ota also had firmware and hboot update (89mb)
I opened the ota zip, in updater script removed all assert checks, and then flashed ota, and it completed, even his firmware and hboot got updated. Have we ever tried fooling HTC stock recovery ?

It was not working for One X ... so I believe the same for DX ... the write protection thingy.
Lo.
I've found a lot of threads on this topic - the problem is they don't explain in detail (probably because everyone knows what they're doing, I'm not too into the whole custom thing).
Basically, I don't know where to start.
I'm running AOKP with the BLADE kernel, and although AOKP is lovely I encounter too many bugs. I'd like to revert to stock, but still be rooted of course.
Is there a detailed guide for this, that I've missed? I've bought my phone in Europe, so I suppose it's just the international version.
If anyone can point me in the right direction here, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thank you.

Hi, you can either install the stock rom (ruu) or pick a rom that is based in the stock rom but without some things that makes battery life longer. i know you want to keep the root so i guess the second option would suits you best. although, i think flashing the stock rom and rooting again is kinda better, you know because of the kernel thing, well is your call mate. salute

I would recommend this. It's pretty much stock, but with optimizations and tweaks.
The RUU thing is way more difficult
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1987885
You can do a RUU and then root your phone with Hasoon's Toolkit.
For do a RUU, simpy relock your bootloader and run the "RUU.exe".
For root, follow the instructions in the toolkit thread.
Thanks and sorry for the late reply, apparently the app dpesn't notify me. What about the kernel I'm using?
And do I need to unroot my phone? I want to keep it rooted..
I like this rom but it's madly unstable unfortunately.

More difficult how? One person said it's simply one exe.
And from your experience, how stable is this rom. I'm getting a bit sick of camera, text, wifi crashes.

frankly, that takes 5 seconds on fastboot. Only gripe is that u have to use a PC, but still we dont have that many kernels or Roms to flash in order to make s-off much useful
On my old bravo, it made more sense, because they could remap all the partition sizes and hence decrease size of cache and system partition and added that to data partition.
But still, maybe someone will benefit from it

Yeah! There aren't much kernels or roms to flash & roms can be flashed through recovery!
But the major feature is that we can get our bootloaders locked instead of relocked & have the warranty back.
